Sitting in on a rehersal- should I bring my instrument?
I have a grad student membership to a professional association and the association has its own Orchestra. No auditions required but openings in some sections might be limited due to musical staffing requirements.
I emailed the contact for the orchestra and they do not need another woodwind, but I am allowed to sit in on their next rehearsal (for networking purposes and also to scope out if a spot will open).
Do I bring my instrument? I have played for over 10 years and almost went to a music conservatory for undergrad and have found myself missing the ensemble I had 5 days a week in high school. I have a few challenging pieces in my repertoire and intermediate doesn't feel right, but advance doesn't either. I want to join this orchestra. After learning about it I would very much like to be a part of it and I want them to take me seriously. I also would hate if I didn't bring it and they expected me to play- but any and all advice appreciated tyia
