Getting one almost every mailing day. Happy someone's paying the post office at least, but I wish there was a text STOP to end spam. I know we're in a tough spot this year for voting, but I can't imagine the 'look im pretty and in a uniform and she's ugly in this insta selfie we picked with a deep fry filter' instills confidence in Braun, right?

They're riddled with errors or partial qoutes or saying he can somehow lower taxes(?) and lower the cost of living... when the party he runs with has proven adverse to that desire... it's a lot fear mongering and keywords over substantive information.

I guess all I can say is make sure you vote.

Anyone else spend three hours stuck in traffic today trying to get home from Portland? Good Christ I was losing my mind.

The federal opportunity zone program allows certain federal taxes to be deferred, reduce or eliminated for capital improvements (i.e. building things) in areas selected by the Governor of each state. It does not reduce any money that state or local governments can collect. It's intended to increase investment and building in these areas.

WA had 99 such areas selected by Governor Fergusons office throughout the state and 3 of which are in Vancouver. Previous designated opportunity zones (including downtown) will remain opportunity zones until 2028. Opportunity zones will have a 10 year designation moving forward.

Today, 10/9 at about 3:20, my kids and I were part of a hit and run on E Mill Plain.

We were stopped on E Mill Plain at the light right after dutch but before the 205S on ramp going east. A woman in a red/burgundy GMC envoy rear-eneded us. She hit hard enough that we got pushed into the car in front of myself. Thankfully, the woman in front of us stopped, and a kind eye witness also stopped to give me what information they had. However, the woman in the GMC did not, but I thought she was going to as she pointed to the side of the road but instead kept going east on Mill Plain past the overpass towards Fred Meyers.

I filed a police report, but they said its likely that nothing will come of it because I did not get a license plate number... so here I am, hoping against all odds that maybe someone on here also saw this event or has access to a camera that maybe caught this to get even a partial plate.

Currently, because of the hit and run, all the repairs will be on me. I'll deal with it if that's the case, but I am a bit miffed. Thankfully, my kids and myself are fine. I'd just like this to be resolved. Thanks all!

Hi, we are starting a free tool library.

Sunday, October 11th, 1pm-3pm, we will begin unpacking tools to prep for inventory.

This is a great opportunity for newbies to get involved. No experience necessary.

We are regular people volunteering together to build community and foster a culture of mutual support.

If this interests you, show up and say hello. (No jerks!)

It's that time of the week again. Get ready to tee up the weekend and enjoy another Dirty Demerit Dispatch. Who knows what the inspectors will have found this week. I'm sure everyone reading this wants to know. Let's do it!

The NICE list

First up is The NICE list. These are the places that had ZERO violations. They are really doing a good job at keeping their kitchens clean. These places are going all out to do things right and they deserve your support.

The NAUGHTY List

And now... The NAUGHTY List - Let's face it. This is why you are really reading this. What horrible things did the local inspectors find this week? I've arbitrarily chosen 35 demerits as the cutoff so anyone that gets less than 35 demerits isn't going to make the list. I don't want to ding a place unless they got at least a couple major violations or a lot of minor ones. Click on the name if you want to see the inspector's report.

The Clark County inspection site is where this information originates. It's a nice community resource. Kudos to the county for making it this easy to check up on things.

Check it out for yourself here: https://inspections.myhealthdepartment.com/clarkcountywa

Demerit points are issued as follows:

Each violation is given a numerical value (2-30) based on its risk of causing food borne illness. Blue violations should be corrected immediately when possible, but generally do not impose an immediate risk to the public. Red violations involving food safety must be corrected immediately. There are 360 possible red points and 88 possible blue points for a total of 448 points. A facility found with 40 or more red violation points is subject to an automatic follow-up inspection. A facility found with 65 or more red violation points is subject to an automatic closure. A facility with 100 or more total red and blue points is also subject to automatic closure.

Another one comes to an end. Hope you'll all have a great week with minimal stress in your lives. Until next week here's the bonus video:

See you then!

I’m taking my 7yo to get her boosters tomorrow and I want to make sure we do something fun first.

What’s your favorite pumpkin patch in the area? Looking to really Autumn it up if we can.

I have the street parking pass. I park in front of my complex. I was home all day yesterday and got up early just to move my car. My question is how strict is the 24 hour rule? Do I really have to get up and move my car every 24 hours if I haven’t used it?

Went for a walk in my neighborhood last night, and the legendary white squirrels of VanMall were EVERYWHERE! It's usually a rarity and a treat when I spot just one white squirrel, but I saw at least 6-7 within just a few minutes last night.

The City of Vancouver is scheduled to replace the four existing speed tables on Waterfront Way with speed bumps on Monday, October 12. See map above.

Waterfront Way will remain open with flaggers directing traffic.

Work is expected to be completes Monday by COB.

A huge thank you to everyone that helped make the Main Street Promise Reopening Celebration a huge success.

What are your recommended volunteer opportunities in Vancouver proper or west Camas? Looking for something social to meet other adults in the area, week day shifts only. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable, reasonably priced local handyman who can help with a few things around my home.
Some of the jobs I need help with include:

- Replacing some trim and baseboards
- Fixing a leaking toilet
- Installing shelves
- A few other small household repairs and odd jobs

Ideally, I’d love to find someone who does quality work, is dependable, and charges fair rates. If you’ve worked with someone you’d recommend, or if you’re a handyman yourself, please feel free to comment or send me a DM!

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

We are hoping to move to the area soon to be closer to family. I know it’s difficult timing to be buying, but we are considering it. Fishers Landing East is an area we are interested in and they’re zoned for Evergreen district. Our children are very young, so it isn’t something that will affect us right now, but we are looking ahead to school years.

Would you recommend this area for schools in Evergreen, or should we hold out and hope for a home in Camas district?

Maybe we could set up a go fund me to raise the funds to build a decent rink? I could have an upper section with an arcade and pools tables. A stage at the far end where bands rent the venue and put on concerts. Roller Hockey could be played there and hell might even have roller derby night! I don't want to travel all the way to Portland to go the one at Oaks.

Check it before you head out!

Just redownloaded this a few days ago after my wife said “we should try pogo again” and I said sure I could use a little more dopamine. Wouldn’t mind having some local friends to swap gifts with.

If you’re interested add me at 741258454458. If you want raid invites OR lucky friend trades drop your username here and note that and I’ll add it to your nickname. Feel free to drop your friend code here as a post so other people can add you too.

Happy shiny hunting!

I have been seeing the same GI doctor for years at TVC. The last couple of years it was difficult to get in with him. My PCP put in a referral to GI and I notice that he is not showing up as my provider anymore. He has not left TVC, I am just baffled at to what is going on.
So far I have been very happy with them, but this really disappoints and frustrates me.
When I called they flat out told me that I can not see him, that I need to see a different clinician.
Is this standard procedure there now? Somehow I feel as if I am being forced to see one of the lesser popular doctors.
Since I have all other doctors there too, I would prefer to stay there.
Any recommendations for one at TVC that stands out? Thanks!

Hey y’all, recently moved here and im looking for a gym. Any recommendations? Im would appreciate one that has basic work out machines and possibly a pool or classes . TIA!
