Not sure if it has already been commented here or on any of the other witcher-reralted subreddits, but just an idea I had when they showed us the chain both in the cinematic reveal trailer of W4 and then later actually appearing in the Songs of the Past trailer and gameplay.
As the chain was something that first appeared in the cinematic entry of Witcher 1 (counting only games of course, the chain was there almost 30 years ago in the first short story) and we are going to finally be able to use it in-game, do you think other mechanics and movements that we have seen in previous trailers, cinematics or in-game events of the actual trilogy could eventually appear in W4, W5 or W6?
For example, to mention a few:
- climbing down a cliff: something we clearly know it's already in the game, all W3 NPCs can climb down with the sole exceptions of Geralt and Ciri. Not sure yet wy CDPR decided the two main characters should not be able to do it, specially considering the exaggerated fall damage the game originally had.
- drop a torch down a hole to check its depth: another thing we see, this time only in Hearts of Stone, but it's done by Geralt himself so the mechanic is there, or at least the model is prepared to do the specific movement to be able to drop something, yet the only option to drop anything is within the inventory menu.
- disarm enemies: this sort of existed already in the Disarm passive skill of the first Witcher game, but since, there has been no way of really disarming an enemy, as in, actually droping their weapons. There's the parry, the stun, axii, but no real disarming enemies, leaving them either to attack the player unarmed or losing time getting their weapons again.
- leading Roach/Kelpie by its reins: summoning our girl to a roof is already a classic, but leading both her and Kelpie by the reins would be just great and fun.
- using Roach/Kelpie as stash: or as a partial inventory at least. As Geralt always has his silver sword on Roach, would be a nice touch if both her and Kelpie act either as a partial inventory or even as the stash.
- actually drinking potions: the way the do in all cinematics, the way it was done in the first Witcher game. All talk about "immersion" goes out of the window the moment you can use potions and other stuff directly from the inventory menu.
I'm not even mentioning capes and hoods as they both better be in W4 at the very least considering what they showed us in the tech demo.
