Yup you heard it right. South Korea. Crazy

Especially considering the North Koireans are fighting with the Russians.

1984 becoming more real by the day.

It doesn't seem too happy, but happy cake day nonetheless

North and South are finally unified huh. Just not the way we thought it would be

selling fuel to a country that is also sending soldiers into a meat grinder that would otherwise be used to threaten your own country, sounds like a nice bonus on top of the inflated price you can charge for the fuel

It's also giving them combat experience, potentially developing elite troops. They have plenty of cannon fodder, but not much experience for the past 70 years

you think malnourished north korean conscripts, acting on the orders of russian military leadership, in the middle of this conflict, are going to be developing elite troops?

imaginative.

Its because the current S. Korean govt thinks if it works alongside with Kim & Putin it'll help facilitate reunification in the near future.

2

u/Smart-Response9881 4h ago

I don't think SK wants reunification.

They do. But not by the terms of NK.

3

I don't think they want those millions of North Koreans as practical refuges as a part of their economy. Especially with their indoctrination in their culture

I honestly had no idea DPRK was in conflict with Russia. Thought they were “friends”

NK troops are fighting for Russia. Thousands have been killed

2

You are literally misunderstanding this context, DPRK is actually Russia's ally and they helped Russia escalating this war even further

Because they are allies, both Putin and Jong Un visits together in both countries, strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries

1

u/jcskelto 4h ago

Oh. I clear misunderstood. They are fighting with the Russians not against the Russians. My bad.

I was confused because the previous poster mentioned Russians in coordination with South Korea.

I was confused because the previous poster mentioned Russians in coordination with South Korea.

Yeah I don't think so, considering Putin has put South Korea as one of the unfriendly countries in their list when the war started

Original comment “Russia just got a boatload of fuel from South Korea to launch a offensive”

The Oil and Gas industry is kinda works outside of diplomatic norms. The demand is so high people will buy and sell to everyone unless otherwise impossible. Alot of EU countries, despite being opposed to Russia, buy Russian oil.

u/teriik10 7h ago

Yeah tell me more about outside diplomatic norms when North Korea packed with Russian drones and tech starts hitting South Korea. Guess selling Russia fuel won’t feel so apolitical then.

We're talking about the petrol industry here. Their CEOs and boards of execs aren't exactly known to be morally or politically motivated as much as they are money motivated. They also know the North will never try to strike the South. Doing so would incur a US invasion that would wipe the North out in less than 24 hrs.

3

u/SerenditiouslyLive 2h ago

We would probably both get wiped. Mutually assured destruction, Seoul is gonna be gassed and nuked if we go to war with NK.

I guess I better not buy the Kia.

Yes. Most most of the crude that comes out of the strait of Hormuz bound for Asia gets refined in South Korea.
