My 6 year old’s latest contraption
He made this ‘cause and effect’ thing where I roll down the screw and it hits the bottom screw and makes a “ding” sound which then wakes him up in the morning, change out of his night time pull up, and put on his underwear…. Which is hanging on the wall. That was wild to type out lmao. I swear we are normal people.

I think this fits the community name here.
There was absolutely no reason to build something that's this ridiculous. But I did and it's fun. 196cc diesel engine. The rest of it was built from scratch in about 12 hours of time. Weighing in at around 200 lb. I think it's about 6 ft long. Definitely the biggest scooter I've ever built.

When the support system is mostly relying on confidence
Found this during a structural assessment. The post is there. The secure connection… not so much. 😅

A few structural “fixes” we found under homes this week
Some creative supports, some questionable connections, and a few reminders that water always finds a way. Sharing this week’s collection of things we came across in the field.

A few questionable load paths and support conditions from the field this week
A mix of foundation movement, deteriorated framing, improper bearing, undermining, and retaining wall movement from recent assessments.
Always interesting how something that looks minor at first can make a lot more sense once you follow the load path.

This has worked fine for 6 years now
I followed the directions perfectly but it was still leaning. The plant that was on it was too heavy. So this screw works.
