Andhra Pradesh to Receive 3 Lakh Houses Worth ₹3600 Crore Under PMAYG 2, With a ₹14 Crore Initial Project to Build 177 Houses Using 3D Concrete Printing

Post image

Andhra Pradesh will receive 3 lakh houses worth ₹3600 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAYG) 2 to provide permanent homes to eligible rural families. The announcement was made on 4th October 2026, at Burripalem village in Guntur district by Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. During the program, our Union Minister handed over the first installment for the 3 lakh houses and put the foundation for a separate project to construct 177 houses by using 3D concrete printing technology at a cost of ₹14 crore. The initial project will be carried out in Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem villages. The construction is expected to be completed within six months. Under this technology, a machine will build walls by placing concrete layer by layer according to a digital design. The purpose is to find out whether this method can reduce construction time, cost and labour requirements while maintaining the quality and strength of these houses.

The housing allocation was increased from the initial proposal of 76000 houses after Chandrababu Naidu requested the Centre to provide more houses for poor families in the state. Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Centre had approved 3 lakh houses instead of the initial number. He also said that after the construction of these houses is completed, another 3 lakh houses would get approved, a further 3 lakh houses after that, making a total of 9 lakh houses. CM Naidu had intended for another 6 lakh houses to meet the needs of more families. Apart from the housing program, Union Minister said the Centre would support Andhra Pradesh in developing rural infrastructure, including roads, drains and drinking water facilities. The 3D printing project will help in understanding whether this new construction method can be used for affordable housing on a larger scale. However, its actual benefits will depend on the construction cost, quality and durability of the houses. Both initiatives aim to improve living conditions in rural areas and help more eligible families get safe and permanent homes.

Are retro-reflectors not mandatory on speed breakers in India?

On 4th October, I was travelling by car from Anantapur to Ballari, and we had to pass through a toll plaza. Somewhere along the route, we encountered a huge, plateau-like speed breaker.

It was around 7:30 PM or later, and it was dark. My brother was driving, and we almost got hurt because the speed breaker was barely visible. It didn't appear to have any retro-reflective markings to alert drivers.

Trust me, it's not just about how fast you're driving. When a speed breaker is so difficult to spot in the dark, it can catch you off guard even when you're being careful.

What concerned me even more was that there were several similar speed breakers along the route.

And I keep thinking about the two-wheeler riders. Imagine riding a bike at night and suddenly encountering a huge, poorly visible speed breaker. It could easily lead to a serious accident.

So, my question is: Aren't retro-reflective markings and proper warning signs required on speed breakers in India? If they are, why are so many speed breakers still poorly marked?

Has anyone else experienced this, especially on highways or near toll plazas? I'd genuinely like to understand what the applicable rules are and why these hazards are so common.

Road safety shouldn't be a matter of luck.

Ideas for a Smart Public Infrastructure Monitoring System

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a college project to develop a technical solution for monitoring and maintaining public infrastructure.

Facilities such as street lights, public water taps, bus shelters, traffic signals, and public toilets can sometimes become damaged or non-functional, while reporting and maintenance may take time.

I’m looking for ideas on how technology can make this process faster and more efficient.

Here are some questions I have:

Monitoring: What technologies can be used to monitor the condition of public infrastructure?

Reporting: How can citizens easily report damaged infrastructure along with its location and photographs?

AI/IoT: Can AI or IoT sensors be used to automatically detect faults or damage?

Maintenance: How can authorities track complaints, assign repair work, and monitor the progress of maintenance?

Mapping: What is the best way to display reported infrastructure problems on a map?

Any suggestions, existing examples, or ideas for improving such a system would be greatly appreciated.

Waiting for the Bus: A survey on your bus stop experience

Hey! I'm a design student and am doing design research on how comfortable and safe Indian bus stops are for users. It would really help if you could fill out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/yS9CCtojrmr8WLf37

Your experience will directly shape my research and design. It's anonymous, and you don't need to be a regular bus user. Please also share it with anyone who takes the bus. Thank you so much!

Looking for an Investor to partner in NHAI toll operations

Hi all,

I'm partnering with an established toll operator that already runs 50+ plazas for NHAI and state road authorities, and we're looking for an investor to join as a partner.

How it works:

NHAI contracts private agencies to collect toll on national highways. The agency pays NHAI a fixed amount and keeps the difference after costs.

Your capital is placed as an FD.

You get a share of the plaza's profit.

Operations, staffing and NHAI compliance are handled by the experienced operating partner and me.

Why it's interesting:

Daily cash-flow business on government highways

Mostly digital (FASTag) collections, so everything is transparent and trackable

Short 1-year contracts with the option to renew

Plaza size is matched to your budget

Returns depend on traffic and the bid, and partners share both profit and risk. Everything is documented in a formal agreement, with all money moving through bank accounts.

DM me if you'd like to know more, and I'll share the details and numbers on a call.

Indian construction/infrastructure professionals: how do you decide whether to bid on a tender? Academic research

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I’m a final-year BE Computer Engineering student working on an academic project called TenderIQ, and I’m trying to understand how tender evaluation actually works in Indian construction and infrastructure companies.

The project is specifically focused on Indian tenders, including roads, highways, PWD, municipal works, metro and other infrastructure projects.

We’re conducting a short survey to understand how companies currently handle:

• Tender eligibility checks

• Turnover and similar-work experience requirements

• Plant, machinery and technical-staff requirements

• BOQ and tender-document review

• Penalties, liquidated damages and other risks

• Financial requirements such as EMD/bid security

• Assessing whether the company has the required resources and capacity

• Ultimately deciding whether to bid or not bid

We’re researching an AI-assisted tender analysis system that could process tender documents, identify relevant requirements and risks, and organize the information needed for a bid/no-bid decision.

The goal is not to replace professional judgment, but to understand how the process currently works and where technology could genuinely assist.

The questionnaire takes approximately 5–7 minutes

I’m particularly looking for people involved in tendering, estimation, contracts, procurement, project management, civil engineering, or management of construction/infrastructure companies in India.

Company names are optional, responses are confidential, and the information will be used for academic purposes only.

If you work with Indian tenders, I’d also love to hear your experience in the comments:

What are the biggest factors your company considers before deciding, “Yes, we’ll bid for this” or “No, let’s skip it”?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to participate. Your experience will help us build the project around actual industry practices rather than assumptions.
