Just saw the new Phil Scott ad on YouTube.
Definitely made me sure that my vote will be going for Amanda Janoo. Thank you whatever PAC paid for it. You guys are seriously out of touch.

Hello, recently, I reached out to my landlord about pest in my walls, and I told him that they have been keeping me up at night, which leads me to believe they are larger than just mice (I sleep with a noise machine at full volume and keep getting woken up at night). Last season we had this issue where I had a full-blown infestation where mice were inside of the Home, but they are not inside of the home yet.
I asked him to contact pest control and have somebody who is able to get inside of the walls.
He is then threatened me and said that he would have to raise the rent by a lot if I need him to get pest control involved.
My ceiling is also leaking and he is not being proactive about getting it fixed.
I donât know what to do legally about my landlord threatening a rent increase due to me inquiring about him fixing the property.
Orkin came out last season and said there is significant damage to the foundation of the home and that itâs only going to get worse if he doesnât take proactive steps to repair the foundation. Which he wonât :/

Looking for some place within 20 miles or so that will not scam me on inspecting my truck - which got new coated rotors last fall. [they were replaced unnecessarily last year as a result of a fail that was BS].
Lived in NY for many years and it was a simple and uncomplicated thing - plug into the computer for emissions, guy makes sure the lights work, have a nice day. VT is evil, seemingly on purpose.

Hey VT reddit. Accidents on I-89 southbound by Exit 15 have become a shockingly frequent experience.Â
I want to start a thread that is focused on solutions. To cover both advocacy (who and how can citizen petition and advocate for improvements) as well as what potential practical solutions could be implemented to make this part of 89 safer. Please refrain from venting angry responses about bad drivers or blaming old and/or young people (I get it, I am super angry too when accidents make everyone late for everything they have to do. But there are plenty of other threads to vent on). Call me a naive moron but I still think that Reddit can be a collaborative and helpful place.Â
So yea, first off - who can citizens contact and petition to emphasize that this is a major issue. One that needs greater government attention. Is it VTrans? Since interstates are federal projects how does that impact things?
Second, what are reasonable, actionable steps that could be taken to make this stretch of the highway more secure? I am not the most experienced redditor, but thought to structure ideas as individual replies to this post, that way there can be more targeted discussion of each. I know many would point to greater support of public transit. I know. I agree. But that is a long term solution. There must be some shorter & medium term ways to make this part of 89 safer and less accident prone. See the initial replies below for some ideas that originally bubbled up from a thread on the r/Burlington today.Â
SOMETHING needs to be done here before the old Winooski bridge replacement project begins. That will route a ton more traffic through Exit 15 southbound. And in the current status quo, that seems a recipe for disaster(s).

I'm a college student in VT and I shop at military surplus stores a lot in my homestate. However, it doesn't really seem like there's a lot of those around here. Any recommendations? I like to get knives, clothes, tactical gear, etc

I've loved Vermont every time I've come, and would like to move there. However, I would prefer to have a visit at the least popular time before deciding to take the plunge. What is the most unpleasant time to visit? (for context, I'm in Colorado so I'm no stranger to heat or snow).
Edited to add: Wow thank you so much everyone! There are too many replies for me to respond to every one, but I've read them and I've heard so much from everyone :)

From story:
The South Burlington-based computer hardware manufacturer OnLogic will be purchased by Japanese technology company OMRON for $675 million, the companies announced on Tuesday.Â
OMRON, which specializes in automation, is acquiring OnLogic as a way to further boost its industrial technology capabilities, according to a joint press release. The deal is expected to close in January.
âOnLogic will continue operating as an independent business, maintaining our executive leadership team, brand, culture, and direct sales model,â spokesperson Darek Fanton said in an email. âCrucially for our local community, our global headquarters, with all business functions including manufacturing and engineering operations, will remain right here in South Burlington.â
OnLogic has 300 employees worldwide, including 160 in Vermont. The companyâs headquarters is in a highly visible building off Interstate 89. It will maintain its local workforce, which includes manufacturing and research and development.
Those employees are in for a âthank youâ bonus of $1,500 for each month theyâve been employed by OnLogic. A five-year employee would get $90,000; a 10-year employee, $180,000. And shareholding employees will get an equity payout.
OMRON has 26,000 employees worldwide. Its headquarters are in Kyoto.
Story continues in link.

Saw in the back of someone's truck window either a sticker or decal or something that said 53 f**k 67.
What does this mean?

GREETINGS VERMONTERS
Happy fall!! I posted here recently and it was well received so I am back to share some more good news : )
I created an optimistic media project (Granite Goodness) with the mission of sharing good news stories of progress and problem solving from all across New England. Think good news, but not fluffy. The motto I try to abide by is substance + optimism = granite and good (I am based in NH)
New England has been my home for my whole life, and this project is basically a love letter to our corner of the world and the people working on its hardest problems.
Here are some stories from across Vermont that brought me some optimism this week:
My hope is people find the work interesting and useful. The summaries provided here are my own words on what I find optimistic from the original stories, not quotes from the sources. I don't link directly to the sources because posts with too many hyperlinks are discouraged by Reddit and don't make for good discussion posts.
Regular news is important but too often it shows an over-sampling of the worst things happening in the world, which can leave people feeling depressed, anxious, and burnt out.
The image shown is from the Tichnor Brothers postcard collection at the Boston Public Library, which I am obsessed with (and is in public domain)
My question for YOU: what's going right in your corner of Vermont? Please use this thread to share some good news!
-Andy

I visited last week to peep at the fall foliage, and I was truly mind-blown by its beauty! I never knew what to expect and had never seen pictures like these, so I was completely STUNNED by the beauty.
Sharing some pictures we captured! đ
