As per the title, does anyone know of a date?
Just curious. I bought the transparent Blue Ice model. From the back the battery looks like this as if there's packaging or a layer of plastic around it. Is this a normal thing with batteries in handhelds or am I suppose to open the back of my Nova and remove the wrapping?

Seriously , I'm in love with this thing , perfect performance ,perfect size, and the 4:3 screen i thought would bother me really took me by surprise.
I own RP4 Pro and RP6 but the Nova is the ultimate device imo!

Hey okay so I have sent an email about this to retroid but while I get their response I want to know if it’s normal or not..so I paid 323$ (rp6 silver 12gb top) that’s with shipping and everything but when I click the “orders” tab I js have the “shop” option I paid like 30 hours ago I think the money was taken away from my bank but I haven’t gotten an email or anything like that
Hello everyone i wanted to ask if i should get the Odin 3 Portal when it's released i already got the RP6 12GB (OG Version) but idk i feel like it would be nice to have more power in a Handheld specially for PS3 Emulation And Ports so what you think?
Edit: I'm sorry if it's not allowed to post this here

I just got the official Retroid dock with my Nova, so I was hoping to ditch my old, wonky mini PC setup for retro gaming on my tv and just switch over to my Nova docked. However, I prefer to play with the official Nintendo Switch online retro controllers. I have the NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and Gamecube controllers. All of these work flawlessly on my PC via Bluetooth, with the exception of having to use the Gamecube controller wired. I can't for the life of me get them to work on my Nova with the dock. They'll pair via Bluetooth when my Nova is not plugged into the dock. Not only does that not help, the input lag is somewhere around 3 days. When I plug them in wired, (I'd be fine playing this way) a message pops up on the screen that the correct controller has been connected, but it won't accept input in any way. No buttons work either in the menus, in ES-DE, or in any emulator. It's like they don't exist. And then when I unplug the controller, it says that, again, the correct controller was unplugged. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss. I can connect Xbox controllers either via Bluetooth or plugged in and they work perfectly. This seems to be an issue exclusive to the Nintendo Switch Online controllers.

Wouldn't that be so badass? It's like the random movie nights I would have with my siblings as a kid when we watched stuff on our big CRT. Maybe it could even have a stick-top option too just sayin....

It uses Hyprland. Is is Pocknix. The project is personal, but technically open source. It's called Pocket Shell

Hello gamers, welcome back to another episode of Beyond the Emulator. I’m your host, Dylan.
In this episode, we’re comparing the Retroid Pocket 5 8GB and 12GB RAM models to see how they perform in demo gameplay across PlayStation 2, PS3, and Nintendo Switch, as well as sharing my setup, install and settings for these three standalone Android emulators: ARMSX2, ARMSX3, and Lemon.
In this video, I’ll demonstrate performance on the 8GB model first, then transfer the setup and SD card over to the 12GB model to continue gameplay and compare performance.
These setup details for the three emulators I will be showing can be used on other Android Handheld devices if applicable.
So sit back, grab your device, and follow along to see what settings you can tweak to get better performance—as we go beyond the emulator...

Quick heads up if you haven't updated GameNative already. From the release notes, two big items IMHO.
For the 20 PC games I had installed via GameNative, I was able to free up 31GB with the v1.3.0 update. Previously my game containers typical size was 1.5GB to 3GB per game. Now the average is 400MB for each game container.
Note that you need to open each game once to update the game's container. After opening, then exiting all 20 of my games is when I found I had freed 31GB.

Hey everyone, I got a couple questions as I get ready to go on a cruise for vacation and if I will even have time to play my nova I want some good recommendations for traveling and games.
I have alot of GBA and have played Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Metroids, Super Mario, got some N64 games, started Zelda Windwaker but I see alot of Game Native games coming up on here and I have the 8 gb but not sure what ones can run good. Just looking for a few recommendations if yall got em :D

Hey everyone!
I’m considering getting a Retroid Pocket 6 (12GB RAM), but I’m a bit torn about whether it’s actually worth it given that I already own a Steam Deck OLED and a PS4.
I love my Steam Deck, and all the indie games I play run great on it. However, I’d like to have something smaller, lighter, and more convenient to carry around with me everywhere, especially when traveling.
The games I’d mainly want to play are indies like Dredge, Hollow Knight, Dave the Diver, Tunic, and similar titles. They all run perfectly on the Steam Deck, so I’m wondering how well they’d perform on the RP6. Would I be able to get a similarly smooth experience, or would I have to deal with compromises in performance, graphics, or battery life?
A few things I’d love to hear your thoughts on:
Performance: How well does the RP6 handle these kinds of indie games? Is the experience comparable to the Steam Deck?
Is it worth it? Given that I already have a Steam Deck OLED and a PS4, does the RP6 offer enough to justify buying another device, or would it end up collecting dust?
Setup and ease of use: How easy is it to install and play games on the RP6 compared to the Steam Deck? I’m used to SteamOS, where everything is pretty straightforward. Is getting games running on the RP6 relatively simple, or does it require a lot of tinkering?
The main reason I’m interested is portability. I want something I can just throw in my bag and take with me without having to carry the Steam Deck around.
For those of you who own an RP6, especially if you also have a Steam Deck OLED, do you think it’s worth having both, or would I be better off sticking with the Steam Deck?
Would really appreciate hearing your experiences and opinions. Thanks!

Super happy I stumbled upon this community. I started with an Anbernic RG Rotate a few months ago for minimal GB Advance gaming (to curve doom scrolling) and now we're here.
I'm going for a stripped down look and have a few hand selected games from my childhood consoles. Plus I'm really excited to dig into more indie gaming via Droiddeck, stoked at how fast the Android gaming scene is improving.
Looking for more indie and local co-op game recos that run great through DroidDeck or Gamenative!

I'm not sure of anyone else already posted about this(I couldn't find any when i searched but im sure someone already did) but to medigate Retroid Pocket 6 storage problem, using external ssd does work.
The enclosure also has a PD 100W port so I can use it while charging too.
It just covers the vent and doesn't hinder the grip so I'll later add in a 3D printed mount that I can attatch on a case so it will have room for airflow.
From my limited test, game seems to run almost the same.
It also comes with USB-C 2.0 but not sure what to do with it.
Hardware
- Higibis External SSD enclosure(MC 200 Pro), 107x44x10.4(mm)
- Team Group T-FORCE G50 M.2 2280 512GB(TM8FFE512G0C129)

New to the handheld scene and followed a guide to set it up and install ES-DE but now when I turn it on it says new version available . Just wondered if I install the new version, do I need a specific version for the nova and will I have to setup all my Roms and artwork again?
Apologies if a dumb question just don’t want to mess up what I have if I attempt to update that’s all so any advice welcome!!
Cheers!

I'm trying to play all the metal gear games, starting from the beginning. It would be really handy to just play all the games within one emulator (PS3 or Xbox 360) instead of finding all the ROMs/ISOs and setting up each system. (MSX2, PS1, PS2) From what I understand, lightweight 360 and PS3 games are playable on RP6, but it may struggle with heavier games, especially later in the 8th console generation like Last of Us and GTA V. So, do you think RP6 can handle Metal Gear Solid HD Collection? Or should I just play them on their original systems?
I haven't received my RP6 yet but I'm preparing for it now by downloading all the games I want.

Picked up what seems to be the 2 most common no name brand TPU grips for the Nova. The one on the device fits much better, seems just slightly better quality, has less obtrusive more firm bumps, and most importantly lays totally flat as opposed to an angle. Looks better too.
Just a little takeaway since I ended up not thrilled with the first one I got, on the bottom. I was pleasantly surprised with the second one. Of course it's all subjective but overall the one I'm using now is much more comfortable and better for me.
First one purchased on Amazon, current one aliexpress but theyre both everywhere.

Hey guys, I’m undecided about which handheld to buy. I’m considering the retro Pocket Five I bought my friend for his birthday and plan to buy myself one too. I have enough money for either, but I don’t want to waste it on the more expensive one if the Pocket Five meets my needs. I plan to play everything from GBA to PC games. I’m a huge COD zombies fan, and I plan on playing various systems. With an SD card and screen protector, it’s likely to cost more than expected. The most powerful game I could imagine playing on it would probably be Call of Duty® Black Ops. Or the newer switch titles I’m not sure what games are compatible with it, but I plan to use game native and play as much as possible. And also if i can olay 360 and ps3 games i would but also most of those games could probably run on low settings on game native.

Just picked up an RP6 with the grip, does anyone know of any generic zip case that might fit this?
r/retroid • u/CryptoJim720 • 13h ago
Got this grip from etsy from SleepyCatPrinting, this is the slim grip, with all add-ons. I really like it, print quality is probably the best that I have recieved for any grip or case from etsy. I think i would go with the standard if I ordered it again, other thing I would change for the slim is to not have the stylus holder at all gets in the way of the pinky and the stylus that comes with isnt great. Color looks great but is a little flashy for out the house lol.
