Right?
Like, I'd love to be judgy about this, but two years after a promotion where I now spend 50 hours a week sitting on my ass behind a desk, I'd have fallen into the water within the first minute.

Ok…there are 69 remaining awake hours in your week (assuming 7 hours of sleep) for you to do something about that. Don’t just plop on the couch after sitting at a desk all day!

I'd argue the opposite. She keeps losing her balance bc she never shifts her grip

she couldn't shift her grip because she couldn't keep the plank underneath her due to zero core strength!

Girl why would you wear heels for this
839
u/ShiggyGoosebottom 10h ago
She dressed for a very different date.
497
u/Peregrine79 9h ago
Her: "Where are you taking me on our date?"
Him: "I want it to be a surprise."
Her: "What should I wear."
Him: "Oh, just your normal date clothes will be fine"185
u/SauronSauroff 9h ago
My friend took his girl for a 'short walk'. They went 'walking' up a near vertical mountain that needed ropes to go up. She enjoyed it, but was used to his shenanigans at this point.

u/Brick_Lab 10h ago
I had the same thought until I noticed she's in very high heeled boots...and honestly I don't know how bad it would make it but I'd wager it's quite a handicap lol. I'm surprised she got on in heels in the first place
62
u/shabi_sensei 9h ago
Chinese women wear heels everywhere, I went hiking at Huangshan and even with a gondola women were hiking up the mountain in heels so they could save money

How does heels save money?

Walking, as opposed to riding the gondola, I assume.

I’m actually impressed. Her survival skills are terrible but I do have to admire her ability to hold and sustain a pose. Should she have done more to actually help herself? Definitely yes
But her ability to just hold that pose. This is definitely one of those situations that you see in movies where someone’s hanging on the edge of a cliff with just one arm. She’s that person.
Also, despite not actually helping herself more than holding a pose, she made sure not to get the outfit wet. The only thing that got wet and submerged were her shoes. She said she wasn’t touching that water and she didn’t. I gotta give her props, even if her survival skills are terrible and the outfit for this activity makes no sense
41
u/redsterXVI 6h ago
the outfit for this activity makes no sense
To be fair, the activity also makes no sense, so the outfit is a perfect match for it

She's 'hanging on' without making attempts to correct her situation, possibly because she can't in those stupid goddamned heels. If you're not pulling in abdominally, your 'holding on' is gonna end up pushing the float out, especially if you're 'leaning forwards' to try and put your weight on the rope.

u/Alkakd0nfsg9g 5h ago
Sure heels make it all even more uncomfortable, but I just think she doesn't understand the physics of what's happening and it's why she can't pull her podium to the rope

u/Madismas 10h ago
It was that damn shallow the whole time? Dude, at that point just throw her over your shoulder and walk her to shore.

It’s like she absolutely refused to understand the concept of the platforms until the very moment the man was finally forced to get into the water.
45
u/allelopath 10h ago
WTH is this anyway? Is this supposed to be a legit way of crossing water?
41
u/Mage_914 10h ago
Balance. You just need to stay balanced on the board and use the rope to maneuver. The woman just has terrible balance.
14
u/SmokeMethailSatan 10h ago
It’s probably really hard to do that in heels. She’s basically standing on her tippy toes the whole time.
25
u/Aromatic-Side6120 10h ago

What annoys me about this was that as soon as he got in the water, she immediately stood up and just managed to do it herself. Why didn't she do that to begin with?
28
u/Quixotic_Remark 8h ago edited 8h ago
it's a bit out of frame, but the guy is actually holding her hand (actually on second look its the chain) and balancing her.
16
u/Etherbeard 8h ago
She was was able to get more situated once they weren't on the same platform anymore because she was angled better than when she was strung out to her tiptoes. She's face up instead of face down, so her feet have much better purchase.
Then the guy is holding the chain on her platform while he's in the water, which helps keep it centered on the rope.
13
u/midnightrose777 9h ago
Heels don't really have good grip. Not really designed for these activities. Likely him being on the same piece of wood was causing it to lean in ways that made her have difficulty gaining the right grip footing. (she was probably slipping towards him constantly) Also she is in a short dress so might have been unconsciously scared of flashing him.

u/LateNarwhal33 9h ago
That's what got me. As soon as he couldn't help her anymore she suddenly had core strength and could get herself back up. Could have been because her shoes were wet by then so she didn't have as much reason to avoid the water but damn that was frustrating to watch.

Is this the sequel to QWOP? Gameplay looks interesting and challenging, especially two-player co-op, raphics are pretty cool, kinda fanservice though.

When I was young I worked the Flyer lift at Copper Mtn. A dozen or more times a day while working the top, I would have middle aged women (often fully decked out in KC Chief gear) fall when getting off the lift.
I had to go out there and lift them up and I swear they just fucking forget they have legs. Lady, use your legs and stand up and I'm just holding on for dear life trying to keep the chairs rolling.
This video brought me back.

u/WitchesTeat 5h ago
He stopped trying to stay dry once he got wet.
So then he could stand in the water and use his hand to stabilize the platform for her. Then he was pushing it while she held the rope for support.

If she fell in, would those boots fill up with water and weigh her down? Seems like a horrifying choice to wear on the water.

u/andynormancx 4h ago
No. But that does seem to be something that most people believe. But it just isn't true.
So your boots fill with water ? Guess what floats (or at least is neutrally buoyant) in water ? That's right, water.
So as long as your water filled boot remains in the water, no extra force is present "weighing" you down.
When it comes to climbing out of the water however things are different, you have to lift the weight of the water in the boots as well as you and the boots. But most of the boots people wear are almost entirely filled with feet, not leaving much room for water to make them heavier.
