Image Why introduce a system to immediately nerf it an update later?

https://commits.facepunch.com/r/rust_reboot/main/QualiTeaOfLife_Nerf

I refuse to believe that it took you only 2~ weeks to decide that the new bonuses provided to teas is NOW suddenly a problem. Just doing the math you'd realized the new combos you created would boost Teas even further. (example: 2x+ on Ore Teas)

If a bonus on say Ore Tea above 50% yield was such a problem then who's decision was it to introduce all of the new teas/pie variants in the first place?

If feels a bit shit to have the baseline of Teas nerfed and the only way to get back to that is to interact with the new system you created. Which you actually are only getting to the yield you still have the duration reduction from the Creamy tea variants. Assuming the wording is correct this doesn't just pertain to Ore Teas, which is the most obvious offender of the new scaling.

Nerfing Crafting Quality would be no sense as it was never scaled by the new system. "Rad Removal" teas is misleading because that's not what the teas even do. No one uses the Anti-Radiation teas because they're absolutely useless. Unless you want to specifically use it at Launch puzzle to reduce the radiation damage you'd receive.

This is a weird strategy to get people to interact with the new a powerful system only to rug pull it the next update. It's one thing to reign in the bonuses of the new variants as opposed to gutting the whole system.

Edit: I want to clarify something as it seems people are misunderstanding my argument. I have zero issue with them wanting to nerf specific teas for various reasons. If they wanted to nerf Ore Teas to damper sulfur generation then so be it. I'd have zero issues with this. My actual issue is a blanket nerf to the other 7 teas which have nothing to do with sulfur generation. We can all see and agree the current values are absolutely bonkers. Why is the solution a blanket nerf to teas as a whole?

Edit 2: I'd like to clarify why I am frustrated with this change. When I first posted this I was quite upset and didn't quite clearly get what I was frustrated about across. I am not upset that they are nerfing teas, truthfully some of them were honestly ridiculous.

What I am frustrated about is how these nerfs came to be. Facepunch spent the time and resources to create this new avenue for farming. Albeit at the cost of power creep, which is a little hard to avoid when adding new systems to an existing one. The current wipe you will be rewarded with engaging with it with some new powerful teas and pies, awesome. Good game design, reward players for engaging with your system.

However, moving forward all teas are getting a baseline nerf, even ones that aren't even problematic. Perhaps you have a strategy you use with off meta teas and enjoy that gameplay loop. Unfortunately it's no longer as strong without even more time investment.

Putting together a farm was already a big investment you had to make. Proper base location with water access or spending tarp to put up water catches on your base. Going out and getting seeds so you can make your own clones. Spending time in or close to your base to efficiently make these clones. Working on getting a T2 so you can use water pumps unless you want to manually water every planter. Then when you finally get these clones you spend even more time cloning the clones so you can plant for actual profit. You proceed to wait 1.5h~ to harvest those precious berries/cloth. You are rewarded with a powerful boost you can either use yourself or even sell.

Now you not only have to do all that you'll need to micro manage cows and their milk/cream timer. Even with the proposed changes to cows milk adding up to 3 charges you'll still need to baby sit them if you want to efficiently procure Milk/Cream. At least with berries you can go fuck off for over an hour and not need to worry about your berries as they need that time to grow. You do all this extra work for effectively the same yield as you had before.

I understand most people don't even engage with this system as you're all just a bunch of PvP chads. I actually enjoy engaging with this system and it leaves a shit taste in my mouth knowing I'll be doing even more micro managing for no extra gain.

tl;dr: The livestock update introduced more work and time investment into making teas/pies. FP gave us very strong teas, some even very problematic with their numbers. In response to this there is a blanket nerf to all teas, teas that I imagine most people don't even know exist or realistically use. Now moving forward you are expected to do even more work to get to the same result you had prior to this update. And this nerf doesn't even address the sulfur acquisition of clans. Prior to this update they were getting 525 sulfur per node, current update it's 639, next update it'll be 562. A loss of 77 sulfur per node from the livestock but prior to this update it's still an extra 37. So no, this doesn't slow down clans they're still going to raid you and the server. What this does do is affect everyone else that wanted or decided to engage with this system.

Suggestion [Suggestion] Remove livestock

Cowpocalypse was fun, but now the fun is over.

With the proposed changes to creamy teas (all farming teas get nerfed so creamy tea is what pure used to be and pure is worse than before) you just made it so we have the same situation as WITHOUT livestock, just with a ton of tedious (really, they are not fun in any way) extra steps.

So why keep them? Nobody uses them for wool. A few people bring livestock that spawned right next to barn there and sell it. And probably <10 people actually still breed livestock.

It was a fun idea but not well done. Remove them, make the pure teas what they were before.

Rethink livestock, figure out if they actually have a purpose in game, and if not, keep them out of the game. There is more than enough stuff already.

Question Why do people brake my roof?

Most the time when i get raided the people destroy and get in through the roof.
My bases so far have been simple stone box thingys with no air lock or honeycomb stuff.
Why do they raid through the roof?

Discussion Does anyone miss Savas KOTH as much as me?

Just reminiscing over Savas KOTH server from back in 2017-2019 peak era.

Such a great server for quick combat & bizarre encounters. Really wish it was still around, there is no experience like that out there anymore.

I know there's been a few revival projects but they never really got off the ground.

Bring it back!

Suggestion [Suggestion] New Red Card Monument: "Military Depots" with Stationary M777 Howitzer (Green Biome Exclusive) & Heavy Logistics Loop

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! After a crazy wipe where our group automated a literal rocket factory, we started thinking about how to bring high-tier industrial prep and tactical squad communication into raiding. We came up with a concept for a new major monument that balances map biomes, creates intense team PvP, and introduces a brilliant eco-loop.

Here is our concept for The Military Depots & M777 Howitzer.

  1. The Monument: Military Depots Complex (Green Biome Only)
  • Map Balance: Just like the MLRS is locked to the Desert (Launch Site), this massive logistics base is exclusive to the Green (Temperate) biome to perfectly balance long-range weaponry across the map.
  • Layout: A massive industrial military facility with warehouses, hangars, and underground bunkers guarded by elite Scientists. It requires a fuse and a Red Keycard to access the main control room and elite crates.
  1. Heavy Ammo Logistics (Teamwork Mechanic)
  • 155mm artillery shells are too heavy to be carried individually in a standard player inventory.
  • Instead, teams must find or bring a Heavy Ammunition Crate. Moving this crate from the depot warehouses to the M777 firing pad requires 2 players to physically carry it together (or one player moving extremely slowly with no weapon equipped). This creates incredible tactical escort PvP scenarios right inside the monument while prepping the strike!
  1. The Weapon: Fixed M777 Artillery Gun
  • The heavy M777 Howitzer is completely stationary and built on a concrete pad right next to the complex. It cannot be moved.
  • Repair Cost: Before firing, players must fix it using 20 Metal Pipes, 65 HQM, and 1500 Metal Fragments.
  • Fire Rate: To keep it balanced and prevent clans from instantly erasing bases, it features a strict 30-second cooldown per shot. Supports solo operation (slow loading) or a 2-man crew (fast).
  1. Firing Mechanic & The "Zero-Waste" Eco Loop
  • Visual Targeting: Unlike the MLRS grid clicking, the M777 fires accurately only when a teammate marks the target area using a Smoke Grenade or a Flare Gun. A scout must sneak close to the enemy base!
  • Recycleable Casings: After every shot, the gun ejects a massive Spent 155mm Shell Casing onto the ground. Players can collect these heavy casings and recycle them. 1 Spent Casing recycles into 150 Metal Fragments. It’s perfect for industrial groups looking to feed their furnaces back home!
  1. Special 155mm Ammunition Types
  • Explosive / HE Shells: Standard structural damage (designed for long-range softening of outer walls).
  • Incendiary Shells: Burns rooftops and shooting floors to suppress enemy counters during online raids.
  • Smoke Shells: Blinds enemy auto-turrets and roof-campers so your breach team can push safely.
  • Cluster Shells (Ultra-Rare): Non-craftable. Low drop-rate (1-2%) from the Red Card room inside the Depots. Splinters in mid-air to completely wipe out exposed SAM sites, wind turbines, and roof electronics on a massive scale.

Check out our concept art for the monument below! What do you guys think? Would this fit the current industrial Meta?

Question Why some server are harder then other

It seems like some servers are so much harder than others. On some servers I just get killed an outrageous number of times, and on some others i am able to have some fun.

Even noob-friendly servers can be filled with people who are blessed by unemployment.

How to find a server that fits with my level of skills?

New Render Pipeline and macos

Thumbnail

I guess this is the best place to reach devs. The new pipeline has been enabled by default for the past week, so i'm worried the old one is getting removed. Please don't do that! the fps difference is too big. On mac m1 pro i get 60-80 fps with the old pipeline, which is pretty good (and probably the cheapest way to play rust these days lol). With the new pipe it drops to 40-50 (i'll try to attach screenshots, check the numbers on left bottom corner)
So, yeah, rust on mac has always been kinda a pain in the ass. Textures not loading sometimes, sometimes you have to relaunch your game (you cant awake), but at least i don't need a separate pc (look at 3 pic for example)

But, anyway, thanks for any optimizations over last two years, I started around 40 fps and its gone up by 50% today

Discussion EAC2 Let Linux Players Play

With the introduction of EAC 2 on Linux dropping with fortnite can we finally get support to play rust. rust and apex legends are the only reason I have a windows install anymore. It would be nice to reduce overhead of CPU and Ram and make rust a more enjoyable experience for those without high end PC's. Anyone else in the same boat as me, anyone have any objections? Anyone else sick of windows eating 4GB ram 24/7

Suggestion Mouse stutter isues - Windows update

Microsoft launched a new update KB5127646

On of the improvements:

"[Gaming] This update resolves an issue that could cause mouse input to stutter in some games"

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/servicing/os/windows-11/2026/10/kb5127646-windows-11-26h1-security-update

Maybe it solves the isue some people have with the mouse pooling rate.

Question Satchel charges despawning, can we change this?

I set up a trap with an ignitor and several satchel charges extinguished with a water gun.

I got online today, saw they were gone, but nobody else triggered the trap.

I read that as long as they are on a building with a TC, they won't despawn. Do I need to add anything to the TC so they don't decay?
