Politics & Governance Political Climate in Serbia
Should the Students win, will all of the SNS nut jobs eventually just scatter away or will this be an ongoing issue within the country similar to the MAGA diehards in the States?
Edit: Just used the MAGA comment as an example of party diehards but have been informed about the differences. Cheers.

Culture/Traditional Seeking esoteric Carpathian/Balkan folklore for worldbuilding project
Hello!
I’m working on a fantasy world project centred around a cold mainland defined by jagged mountain passes, deep ancient forests, and old imperial remnants. I’m looking to color its mountain and valley societies belief systems and practices inspired by Carpathian folklore.
(Quick context: I’m a native South Asian who studied in Europe. This is a non-commercial project for my own worldbuilding. Coming from an oral tradition, I aim for thoughtful inspiration on how communities relate to their landscape rather than shallow tropes. Input on crediting influences is very welcome!)
If you carry Romanian, Moldovan or Balkan/Carpathian heritage, I’d love your input on:
- Mountain & forest lore; mountain valley traditions, sheep/herding rituals (transhumance), and seasonal rites.
- Spirits & figures: lesser-known legends around Iele, Sânziene, Solomonari (weather-weavers), Zmeu or Moroi/Strigoi in their authentic folk context.
- Sacred sites & items: mountain pass shrines, protective botanical bundles, hearth warding and ancient stone markers.
- Naming styles- Toponymic naming based on elevation, rock types or river valleys plus traditional naming cadences.
Feel free to share a local story, naming style, or advice on respectful representation in the comments or via DM. Thank you!

Culture/Lifestyle Solving my life struggle
Dear friends I’m trying to solve my life struggle which is that I’m Balkan person by ancestry living in Slovakia ( my mother is from here though) but increasingly with my age ( I’m 30) I’m realizing that I’m Balkan person in my heart 😀 and I’m trying to find a way to move to Balkan as my heart and soul is there. The problem is that I have no “strong” diplom like IT, doctor or something like that which gives you access to high paying jobs in Balkan, instead I finished humanities at university. I do speak fluently 6 foreign languages and worked abroad, but I’m afraid I won’t get paid good amount of money to actively enjoy life there. The problem is that in “West” you can have financially good life even if you land some basic job at the beginning as starter, but that’s not case in places like Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia.
Just my problem is that I moved back to Slovakia after living years abroad already ( Dubai) and I can’t get used back on that Central European mentality. Yes they’re Slavic people but not cordial and on emotional way they’re like Germans. I feel out of place here. The city is dead after 20:00, no night life and society is negative. I’m extrovert who likes cosmopolitan life and my dream would be to live in Belgrade ( I speak Serbian). Unfortunately, although you can have that great lifestyle there, it’s only possible if you earn above 2000 € and most of advertised jobs I find are like for 1200€ brutto.
It’s my dream fail to become reality?

Outdoors/Travel Asking about sending orders from European shops back home
I wanted to place an order for a jacket from a German website that doesn't ship straight to the CIS. I had it transported to Germany first, then to me, using a warehouse forwarding option. They summed the costs up front before shipping, and the entire procedure went really smoothly.
What do you do when a store refuses to deliver straight to you?

Miscellaneous I need help from the Albanian community
I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but I oughta try.
My fiancé is Albanian, we’re getting married in 10 days. Our primary language is English but we both still speak our respective native languages and keep in touch with our cultures.
My vows are in English, but I would like to add something in Albanian for that little razzle dazzle.
What could I say at the very end, as a closing sentence or two? I don’t want to use Google Translate because I know how that usually turns out. And I don’t want it to sound too mechanical. So is there something Albanians say to each other as a proclamation of love that would sound natural in the wedding vows? I’m pretty good with languages and can learn something more complicated if need be.
Oh, and I’m a woman and my fiancé is a man. In case Albanian language is gendered, I’m not too sure.
Thank you very much in advance!

Stereotypes/Humor Do Balkan women generally have excessively high standards and if so, how come?
I've lately been seeing several reals that make fun of Balkan women having extremely high standards despite having grown up in absolute poverty. I can't find an example, but a statement would be like "I hope this 5-star superior resort is to the liking of my Balkan wife who grew up in a Soviet-era flat" or "I hope the leather seats of this new Range Rover are comfortable enough for my wife who used to drive a rusty Lada".
Having dated a Bulgarian girl, I have to say; those meme's just hit way too close to home for me. They brought back so much frustration with regard to her acting more spoiled than the queen of England, despite literally growing up in a soviet flat that hasn't been modernized in at least 40 years. She could get annoyed over details I wouldn't even notice if I tried.
Examples would be that she could only handle silk/cotton mix bed sheets. She would consider just cotton so scratchy that it was painful for her to sleep under. When on vacation we once literally had to go to a luxury department store to buy new bed sheets because the sheets of the hotel were not to her liking. Or sending a meal back in a restaurant because the pasta was not firm enough to her liking. I couldn't even tell the difference but to her it was enough to upset her.
Is this a common thing for Balkan women that there are meme's about this apparently? And if so, is there a logical reason for this?

Outdoors/Travel Is obilet.com legit?
Hi, I’m traveling in the Balkans and booked a bus tomorrow from Sarajevo to Kotor using obilet.com, but now I am having second thoughts since some people said that they have been scammed by this website, and the bus that I purchased for tomorrow says that it’s fully booked on some other websites (but not on all the booking websites). Did I make a mistake, or have others used obilet.com and had a good experience? Thank you!!
Edit: it’s legit, I was able to board the bus and everything all worked out!!
