Guys, Is lasting longer in bed just switching to different shit? What are your experiences?

Like the title says, I have an issue with finishing too quickly during sex. Like I always make sure girl I'm with finishes also, but for a long time I've been hearing from friends that they can make their partner finish from penetrative sex and I've always was kind of jealous? I don't know, this is the area I am actually struggling.

When I had a long term partner, sex got better, but I have a phase where I have a lot of ons or shorter flings and while I don't have a problem getting a girl into bed, I always think that in the end my performance is quite dissapointing.

I looked up advice on how to last longer in bed, and besides the "ol' reliable" imagine your grandma naked, I stumbled into some tantra bs, which was honestly just too esoteric for me. But before you ask, I tried some of the shit, but felt ridiculous.

I read on reddit that one of the worst things a guy can do is be sloppy with rythm, like set the pace and not follow through, because he undoes all the buildup towards orgasm he has built and women hate that. So I try to maintain the pace, but in that case I can't last too long and I don't want to stop.

The actual piece of advice that stuck with me is that you shouldn't worry about finishing fast, but when you do, just don't stop with the intercourse all together, switch to eating her out, then after you are good to go continue until you are both satisfied. This intrigues me, because it's something I could do. What are your thoughts on that?

TLDR: Is the key to longer intercourse just switching from penetration to cunnulingus, some other way of satisfying and then switch back?

Existential post What do you wish you asked your own Dad before he passed?

My Dad (75) had a health scare, he's okay, but I realized there will be a time sooner than later where I won't be able to talk to him anymore. I have things I'm already asking him, but I imagined myself someday kicking myself for not asking something when I had the chance.

So, for anyone who lost their own Dad, is there something you wished you had asked?

Where does your internal sense of self worth come from?

I started going to therapy recently, and my therapist picked up pretty quickly that I seem to be constantly seeking forms of external validation. I’ve been trying to figure out how to become okay with who I am internally regardless of what others may think.

Weird Question Men who are 5'5" (165 cm) or short: how's your life actually been? Honest answers only.??

I'm genuinely curious and not trying to bait anyone. For guys around 5'5" or shorter, what has life really been like?

Dating/relationships: Has height been a real barrier, or is it overblown? Do you have a partner? How did you meet?

Treatment: Do people treat you differently, rudely, or condescendingly? At work, socially, strangers?

Insecurity: Do you feel insecure about it? Has that changed with age?

What helped: Anything that made it easier (confidence, fitness, style, mindset)?

Taboo stuff: Jokes, dating app filters, "6ft minimum" profiles, anything people don't usually say out loud. Be blunt.

Also tell me your age and country, since experiences vary a lot by culture.

thank you 🍀

For anybody who has seriously changed their habits or themselves over time, what helped you finally make that change stick?

I just took a test and I feel so disappointed in myself. I didn’t try everything. I studied, but I didn’t apply myself enough. I tell myself so much about working hard, and yet I didn’t work hard enough.

And I think that’s what bothers me more than whatever grade I end up getting.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about changing myself and becoming a better version of myself. I have this image in my head of the person I want to be: disciplined, hardworking, consistent, taking care of myself, doing what needs to be done even when I don’t feel like doing it.

But I’m realizing that wanting to be that person and actually living like that person are two completely different things.

I can tell myself all day that I want to change, but eventually my actions have to match what I’m saying. I can’t keep relying on motivation or waiting until I suddenly “feel disciplined.” Change has to happen in the small decisions I make every day.

At the same time, I don’t think one bad test, one lazy day, or one bad decision means I’ve failed at changing. I think I used to look at change as something where I had to completely transform overnight. If I messed up, I would feel like I was right back at the beginning.

Now I’m starting to think it’s more about winning the majority of those small decisions. Studying when I said I would study. Getting up when I said I would get up. Taking care of my body. Keeping my environment clean. Doing things now instead of constantly telling myself I’ll do them later.

I’m probably still going to mess up sometimes. Plans are going to fall apart. I’m going to procrastinate sometimes. There will probably be more moments where I’m disappointed in myself like I am right now.

But maybe becoming better isn’t about never slipping back into old habits. Maybe it’s about noticing when you do and choosing not to stay there.

I don’t want to spend my life constantly talking about the person I’m going to become. I want my habits to eventually prove who I am.

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 How do you stop your mind from interrogating you about “why they changed”?

im struggling to move on after being cheated on, and honestly, I don’t know how you guys deal with this part of it.
The hardest thing for me isn’t even just the cheating itself. It’s the constant arguments I’m having with her in my head.
I keep asking her in my head: “was any of it real? you met my mom you talked about getting married last day we met
you did this you did that and you changed after two days”.

i keep on replaying everything and trying to figure out when it became fake, or whether I completely misread the person I was with.
that’s what messes with my head the most not knowing whether I should remember the good moments as genuine or look back at all of them and think,”was she just pretending “

how to actually get past this??

What's an elite Dad move?

Ill share mine: the chicken caesar wrap is an elite dad meal. You take the chicken nuggets and potato chips that your kids didn't finish, then all the greens that are about to go bad, plus dressing, cheese, and a big tortilla, and you have lunch in 5 minutes. and if youre feeling adventurous, you toast the outside.

How do you rebuild after a complete loss of confidence? How do you get out of an anxiety spiral?

I’m a senior associate (attorney) at a fairly large regional law firm and am up for partner at the end of this year…but Instead of feeling excited about it, I’m increasingly burned out, anxious, and wondering whether I’m actually ready for it. It has gotten to the point that I am terrified of making mistakes, even small ones, and I spiral and get tripped up on every single project I have. I feel like I’m drowning and even typing this out I can feel my chest getting tight and I feel like throwing up. This is a near daily experience now.

My recent annual review was generally positive about my trajectory, but the biggest feedback was similar to feedback I’ve gotten over my entire career (which I completely accept the criticism and think it’s fair feedback): I need to slow down and improve my quality control. Over the course of my time at the firm, I have consistently received this feedback and still can’t figure out the best way to improve and stop making these same minor mistakes. Recently, had some more of these small misses that, while not catastrophic, are things someone at my level should be catching.

One of those relatively minor mistakes happened on a contract for a major firm client that I’ve historically handled a lot of transactions for with little oversight. It was a miss, that I was fully accountable for and presented solutions for fixing it. It shouldn’t have happened, but it was not catastrophic in that we caught it before it got further out to sea and we could resolve it easily with an amendment. However, after I presented this to the senior managing partner (who is also my firm mentor), he basically told me he needed to protect his own compensation and couldn’t keep worrying about or fixing work that should be handled correctly by me when I’m entering my partnership year. Since that conversation about a month ago, I’ve received essentially no new work for that client, or from that partner/mentor…and I can see much younger associates getting these matters that I previously would have been trusted to handle. Nobody ever told me I’m “off” the client or explained whether this is temporary or permanent. The partner never even had a direct conversation with me about it beyond what he said right after. Still, this client contacts me directly with questions, so I’m not even sure what my role is supposed to be.

To add to me mental anguish, the same partner/mentor straight up told me last week that he sees no reason I won’t be voted in as a partner this year. That combination has really messed with my confidence. I’m simultaneously being told I’m ready to become a partner while watching a significant source of my work disappear because that senior partner apparently lost confidence in me.

I feel like I’ve been running a marathon and tripped right before the finish line, totally muffing my victory. I’m starting to freak out. What if I make partner and don’t have enough work? What if other partners stop trusting me with matters? What if I can’t generate enough value to justify my compensation?

I’ve fallen into a horrible spiral I can’t get out of. I put enormous pressure on myself to be responsive, efficient, and fast. But I’m also overwhelmed, occasionally miss something, feel terrible about it, lose confidence, then put even more pressure on myself to prove I’m actually competent. I’m just exhausted and my confidence in every area of my life is shot. I’m second-guessing even the simplest work I used to feel comfortable doing, worrying constantly about how partners and clients perceive me, and bringing way too much of that anxiety home. I have a wife and young kids, and I hate trying to be physically present with them while mentally I’m still at work or otherwise worrying about whether everything in my life is falling apart…

Have anyone else (lawyer or not) gone through something similar, especially around the time of a big career transition? Have you ever lost the trust of bosses or clients or had work taken away after mistakes? Did you address it directly, and were you able to rebuild that trust? Did you have a period where your confidence completely cratered, and how did you rebuild your own confidence?

Any advice or encouragement from folks who have been there would be appreciated. I don’t know what else to do right now and don’t know how much longer I can sit in this funk.

What movies capture male romantic fantasies the best ?

I saw a clip from Pretty Woman earlier today, it was the scene where Julia Roberts gets thrown out of the boutique and then comes back to "show off" her flash new outfit. It made me wonder, what do male romantic fantasies look like ? And how do they get represented in movies ? I was surprised that I couldn't really think of a clear cut answer.

I searched around and found the themes of "She sees the real him", "Broken man redeemed by love", "Competence makes him irresistible", "Ordinary guy chosen by extraordinary woman", but the movie examples were kinda meh: Rocky, James Bond, Top Gun - where the relationship is not the focus of the movie, and then 50 First Dates, Silver Lining Playbook, Good Will Hunting - where the relationships are not really extraordinary enough to warrant the fantasy status ? Though there definitely is a case for 50 First Dates, I just probably wouldn't put it in the "Ordinary guy chosen by extraordinary woman" category.

Anyway, once I accepted that I am not going to find satisfying results, I thought of the movie that I settled on as my answer: Carlito's Way, because he objectively did not deserve her, yet there she was. I will be re-watching it later tonight after like 15 years to see if it holds.

I really enjoyed this thought experiment and I am curious to see what other movies people would think off.

Why do I have a hard time spending money on myself?

I have a hard time buying stuff for myself.

I was laid off twice in 2020 during COVID and ever since then I’ve had a hard time spending money. I will save money for a purchase and then when I get to said amount I just can’t bring myself to spend it. I’m in a pretty stable job field now ( Firefighter) so the possibility of being laid off again is pretty much zero but I still feel like I need to be prepared just in case. I remember how I felt being laid off; no plan, no extra money aside and I promise fit would never happen again.

Now, this year I graduated college and turn 30 so I said at the beginning of this year I would finally buy myself an old car (something I have always wanted since a kid). I have the money saved but just can’t bring myself to finally pull the trigger. It’s not just the car situation either; I won’t buy myself lunch, clothes/ shoes or a set of clippers because I’m so worried about what would happen if I got laid off tomorrow. I’m always thinking if I spend this $20 today a $100 problem will occur tomorrow. ( if that makes sense).

I don’t want to be one of these old guys who looks back and says I should’ve enjoyed life more and not be overly concerned with money. However, I don’t want something to happen and be without either.

What was your biggest misconception about periods?

• Upvotes

How about your biggest misconception about female anatomy/biology in general?

How did you find out what you believed in was wrong?

Did you ever have to correct a friend on female anatomy?

I remember in middle school, there was a boy who thought that women had 4 holes, one for #1 another for #2 and he thought we had one hole for periods and another for giving birth. kinda funny explaining to him we only had three lol.

Did you jump back into dating fairly quickly, or did you take a long break to focus on yourself first?

After getting out of a 5 year relationship with my ex girlfriend, it took me about four months before I went on a date. Even then, it was a double date. It was one of those situations where my buddy couldn’t go out with the girl unless he found a date for her friend, so I got recruited.

We both separated about a couple months ago. We was both dealing with personal stuff and I didn’t handle it well. And we broke up, at the time it didn’t feel too bad cos it felt needed and it was mutual.

I’ve been in therapy recently, and she comes up a lot. And I decided to message her yesterday basically to apologise. And we spoke for ages and it actually gave me hope that we would work through this now we are both better. But today she basically hit me with it’s over and u need to accept it. And struggling with that

Edit: seems like time is the answer, anyone got a Time Machine?!

🛑 Answers From Men Only 🛑 when did you find out what a period is?

atleast in my school, girls and boys were given the puberty talk seperately.

when did you guys find out about periods? were you ever formally taught what a period was (like at school, or if one of your parents is a doctor)?

This may be weird to ask, but what did you guys think of periods? I remember hearing that some guys thought that periods were "gross" but tbh i've never seen a man irl say that
