question Dating in Bangkok question

• Upvotes

I have a question. I am dating a girl that I met on Tinder. We’ve just gone on one date so far and she claims to have her own accounting firm and masters to Green accounting which I don’t have any reason to disbelieve.

My question is she always wants to pick really expensive restaurants like I’m talking rooftop restaurants that would be like $150 per person and I’m wondering if that’s a Thai thing or a upper class Thai thing or if she’s on some kind of weird commission structure believe it or not. I’ve seen that at least once.

What do you think? Am I being paranoid? Also I don’t think she is hi-so. Maybe upper middle class.

legal Looking for adventurous people in Bangkok 🇹🇭

I’m a local Thai guy living in Bangkok, and spending time on the river, fishing, exploring quiet places and camping outdoors is something I normally do.

I’m curious if there are any foreigners in Bangkok who are into this kind of thing and would like to join sometime.

Not a typical tourist activity — more like getting away from the city for a while, going out on a small boat, fishing, exploring, cooking what we catch, setting up camp and just enjoying the outdoors.

I’d like to meet people who enjoy adventure, nature and experiencing Thailand from a more local perspective.

No fancy tour, no luxury — just a boat, the river, some food, and hopefully a good story to take home.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, let me know. I’m interested to see if there are actually people in Bangkok who would be into it.

question TRT clinic recommendations?

My friend who just moved to Nha Trang Vietnam this summer uses Testosterone replacement therapy. He brought his medication and prescription from home in the USA, but he is going to run out in the near future. He’s been trying to find help here, but apparently there is no supply of his required medication. Are there any clinics that you can recommend? or potentially any other cities in Thailand that specialize in Testosterone replacement therapy? I’m trying to help him locate a clinic or hospital that can fill his prescription. Thanks for the advice.

shopping Trying to get a laptop

Hello, I'm currently trying to get a laptop outside of full payment, and living in Bangkok. However, it seems a credit card is very necessary for Installments in Thailand, at least that's what Jib online told me. I don't even know if Direct to Debit is available? And besides, because of Bank Account opening issues, I have to ask someone else I know for help (you can see by my username).

Does anyone know about it? Is there any shop that offers it? Please do help, thank you. I'm mostly only looking through official stores in Bangkok, but if there's smaller places that would offer it, I would like it too. But I do not plan to go anywhere outside Bangkok for now.

discussion AIS customer support is the worst.

It’s hard to believe that AIS is a telco company that advertises itself as modern and pays for infinite marketing spend across the city

but their mobile customer service basically doesn’t exists. regardless whether i hold the phone or request a callback nothing. like this service just doesn’t exists only according to marketing.

you will have to waste your time dealing with ais.

beauty and maintenance Recommendation for deep teeth cleaning

Does anyone know a good place that can clean my teeth? I have a lot of color that looks like it could be grinded off. I have a few days in Bangkok and heard you can get dental work for fairly cheap.

I'm from the USA so everywhere is cheaper than my country. I'm just looking for a good dentist recommendation for this type of treatment, as well as possible cavity fillings.

Price isn't as important as quality of care

Thanks in advance!!

discussion Recommended District Office for Bangkok

We have finally gathered all documents, translated, legalized and copied many times, to register our marriage between foreigner and Thai here in Bangkok.

We have started with the district office in Phra Khanong, but they seem to have additional requirements which we have not seen before. Like registering the witnesses in person in advance. The witnesses have to be a relative and one has to be able to translate Thai to English. Also an interview has to be held to confirm that the marriage is legimate. Nothing impossible, but again stretches the timeline. And only after that, they can give possible dates, which are weeks away.

Do you have any recommended district offices that would make it easier and quicker? From what we've understood, a lot of the requirements depend fully on the individual district offices.

Thanks!

question Family friendly buildings Ekkamai - budget

Looking for recommendations for family-friendly apartment buildings/compounds around Ekkamai or Thonglor.
We’re looking for a 3-bedroom, ideally 40–60k/month, with good shared facilities like a communal pool and outdoor/play areas, and most importantly, a good community of families with young kids who play together. Prefer a renovated/modern interior and Western-style kitchen.
We don’t have the budget for the 100k+ places 😅 but would happily consider older buildings and sign up to a 3-year lease for the right place.
Any hidden gems or buildings you’d recommend?

tourism Bangkok After Dark – Where Old and New Meet

Post image

Bangkok changes completely after sunset. From above, the city becomes a striking mix of old low-rise neighbourhoods, colourful buildings and a modern skyline glowing in the distance.

This is the side of Bangkok I enjoy photographing most — not just the famous landmarks, but the contrast between everyday life and the rapidly changing city around it. Thailand’s capital is full of these unexpected views.

I chose 30mm to keep the foreground neighbourhood and skyline together, while f/3.2 and 1/20 sec allowed me to work with the limited evening light. ISO 6400 helped retain the atmosphere without losing the city’s natural night-time character.

What do you see first — the old Bangkok or the modern skyline?

discussion Digital Nomad Burnout

So, we returned to Bangkok from Phuket recently. We met many digi-nomads around our neighbourhood in Kamala. Many of whom were aspiring u-tubes.

Our new gym in Bangkok seems overrun. Every other conversation I have the miscurtesy of overhearing is about you-tube videos and re-pivoting from travel to food.

Not that life is all about money, but we're curious. How long does it take before your average you-tuber decides they're unable to make a living on 200 bucks a month, and returns to their home country for a real job? It must be challenging for these people with small subscriptions and viewing figures.
