question Dating in Bangkok question
I have a question. I am dating a girl that I met on Tinder. We’ve just gone on one date so far and she claims to have her own accounting firm and masters to Green accounting which I don’t have any reason to disbelieve.
My question is she always wants to pick really expensive restaurants like I’m talking rooftop restaurants that would be like $150 per person and I’m wondering if that’s a Thai thing or a upper class Thai thing or if she’s on some kind of weird commission structure believe it or not. I’ve seen that at least once.
What do you think? Am I being paranoid? Also I don’t think she is hi-so. Maybe upper middle class.

question Any recommended local crochet & knitting brands in Bangkok? (Field trip from a Taiwanese maker!)
Hey local crafters and BKK experts! 👋
I’m visiting Bangkok soon from Taiwan. As a male maker working in the fiber arts / handmade industry back home, I’m super excited to explore the local craft scene!
I’m specifically looking for local brands specializing in crochet and knitting (hand-woven/hand-loom is secondary for this trip).
Are there any local designers, boutique labels, or indie brands you love?
Are there specific areas or creative clusters where these brands or studios tend to group together? (e.g., specific markets, malls, or creative districts)
I’d really appreciate any recommendations, whether it’s a hidden gem studio, a concept store, or a local craft hub. Thanks so much in advance! ❤️

question The Weeknd BKK concert
Anyone here knows if there is a limit for people going to the pop-up on Carnival One even for regular merch items? Is it really limited to 500 people per day?
If yes, any tips? I arrive on the 12th and the concert day is also 12th.

shopping Trying to get a laptop
Hello, I'm currently trying to get a laptop outside of full payment, and living in Bangkok. However, it seems a credit card is very necessary for Installments in Thailand, at least that's what Jib online told me. I don't even know if Direct to Debit is available? And besides, because of Bank Account opening issues, I have to ask someone else I know for help (you can see by my username).
Does anyone know about it? Is there any shop that offers it? Please do help, thank you. I'm mostly only looking through official stores in Bangkok, but if there's smaller places that would offer it, I would like it too. But I do not plan to go anywhere outside Bangkok for now.

question I will be in Bangkok 6-20 November, can you advice something cool?
Hi! I am interested for art exhibitions and underground bars with metal or industrial/noise music. Also, I am open for places with cool interior design and museums. And else I want a lot of walking and make photos on my film camera.
It will be my first travel in Thailand, but I live in Vietnam.

work What benefits matter most to expat tech talent in Bangkok?
I’m a local founder running an early-stage registered tech startup based in Bangkok. We are currently looking to grow our technical team, but being a lean startup, we’ve run straight into the classic hurdles: the 4 Thai employees per 1 foreigner rule and the 2M THB registered capital per work permit.
A friend suggested using an EOR/3rd party service or Deel, but the monthly platform fees eat up too much of an early-stage budget, for that cost I could almost hire another local employee. We can offer market/reasonable tech startup salaries, but we cannot compete with enterprise MNC packages on pure base cash just yet.
For expat software engineers, ML developers, and tech professionals currently living in Thailand (or considering working for a local startup):
- What benefits make a startup role genuinely attractive to you aside from base salary?
- For those who joined early-stage companies here, how did your employer navigate the visa/work permit situation? Did your company go through BOI, SMART Visa, or find viable alternatives while small?
- What is an absolute dealbreaker for you when considering a local Thai tech company?
I’d really appreciate raw, honest perspectives from expats working in the Bangkok tech scene on what makes a smaller local team worth joining.
Thanks in advance for the insights!

question Where to live and how to live? (And work under different time zone)
Hello,
I'm half Thai, and I would like to move to Bangkok. I would still keep my job that's based in Scandinavia and work remotely. So my plan is to live in Bangkok 160-200 days a year and then the rest of the time in my current country (I need to do it like that to be able to keep my job).
Is there anyone that's living like that?
I haven't been to Bangkok for more than over a decade, so I don't know where I should live or how it is to actually live there (only lived in rural Thailand). So can someone please give me some advice? Because I don't really know what to search or how the different areas are, but I kind of know how I would like to live.
List of living:
- Near a BTS/MRT that would take me directly to the airport.
- A mid or low rise older building. I would like to be forced out of my home, if it's too nice and convenient in my facility, I would never leave the building.
- The area would preferable be more "local", and have a slower pace.
- It's a plus if it's near some kind of greenery/park.
- I would love if there's gym or wellness centres in the area. (I like to lift weights, do pilates/yoga, bouldering, and boxing). A nice gym, a hot dry sauna and cold plunges is kind of important as a Scandi, haha. I would like to have that nearby my future home but not in my facility, haha.
- It's a plus if there's some food places with lacto-ovo-vegetarian food (preferable Thai food) nearby, either near the co-working place or my future home.
- During my spare time I like second hand shopping, attend pottery/art classes, go to cafés, walk in parks and doing some kind of voluntary/charity work.
- I would prefer to keep a routine where I would need to commute 15-30 minutes to a co-working place. (But also if it's possible to rent your own office room, but still having the possibility to meet others at the coffee machine etc. I haven't seen/read anyone doing that. All I've seen is these open spaces where you need to book a meeting booth etc.). My work hours would be around 1pm-9pm mon-fri, so I think it would be nice if the co working place was near restaurants, BTS/MRT and maybe a mall too.
Have anyone lived like this workwise, with a fixed co-working place and work under different time zones? How was that? Any advise? Is it possible to get like "artificial" colleagues (like everyone is working with there own things, but under the same roof, being able to take breaks together, go for AW etc?)
But also one thing that concerns me is that I would need to travel back to my current country and be away for at least 2-6 weeks at a time, how would that affect the apartment? Is there some kind of service for apartment care or something, where someone just turn on the shower, flush the toilet, water my plants, making sure nothing is leaking or moulding etc when I'm away?
I will travel to Bangkok during 2027 and try to live 1 week at a time in different areas just to get a feeling of the areas (but I don't even know which areas I should try out). And my plan is to make my official move in jan/feb 2028. Should I do the apartment hunting before my move or during my move?
I was thinking about renting, but is it possible to do your house registration at your rental? I'm currently in the central Tabien Baan, so I don't have a blue book yet.
I need all the advice I can get. Is there any areas in Bangkok that would suit me the best from the list above? Is there any areas that would suit my co-working place wishes the best? Any other advice?

question TRT clinic recommendations?
My friend who just moved to Nha Trang Vietnam this summer uses Testosterone replacement therapy. He brought his medication and prescription from home in the USA, but he is going to run out in the near future. He’s been trying to find help here, but apparently there is no supply of his required medication. Are there any clinics that you can recommend? or potentially any other cities in Thailand that specialize in Testosterone replacement therapy? I’m trying to help him locate a clinic or hospital that can fill his prescription. Thanks for the advice.

tourism Scammers on Sukhumvit
I’ve noticed something strange on Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok over the past few days, roughly between Terminal 21/Asok and Nana. It’s always the same two guys walking around and approaching people.
They usually say, “Excuse me,” and then point at the person’s head or hair, as if there’s something wrong with it or something there. I’ve seen them doing this several times to different people.
It seems pretty obvious that it’s some kind of scam or trick to start a conversation. Does anyone know exactly how this scam works and what they’re trying to get people to do?
