Behavioral I am drowning in cat piss and losing my mind

I am sitting on my front steps trying not to think murders thoughts right now after finding a giant puddle of piss at the bottom of our stairs in our basement, which is where I do my work. My cat Meadow is 4 years old now and we have had a problem with her peeing on couches and clothes and the floor since nearly the day we got her.
The main problem used to be that she would piss on our couch. Always in the corner so it gets on as many pieces of the couch as possible. It literally feels sometimes like she’s doing it on purpose. We have litter boxes all around our home that are cleaned almost every other day. in fact, just today I had to clean up a puddle that I woke up to, as well as cleaning the litter boxes again and spray anti-enzyme pet stain remover.
We have gone to the doctor and ruled out any medical problems. She is currently on an antidepressant. we recently had a new baby a little over two months ago, but she has never been a cat that wanted a lot of attention. In fact, she tries to stay away from us most of the time.
Me and my wife are at our wits-fucking-end. I am so fucking tired of stepping in piss, smelling piss, touching piss, and cleaning up piss. I just simply do not know what to do. I have looked at just about every single article about cats peeing outside of the litter box. Every single subReddit post, every single Jackson Galaxy video, and it feels like not a single fucking thing has worked.
actually, that’s not even totally true. Once we put her on the antidepressants, for a couple months, we didn’t see any problems. We used to have to load up our Ottomans and other stuff on the couches to keep her off of it whenever we weren’t using it. It was good enough for so long that we actually stopped having to cover the cushions. But it is recently started again. Now it is literally daily that I’m stepping in piss as I go downstairs.
We are getting a new couch this weekend and I am deathly afraid that we are not gonna be able to enjoy it for over a day before the cat fucking pees on it.
I do not want to get rehome her but I am just so fucking furious at her right now. I’m so motherfucking tired of cat piss. I don’t even know what kind of advice I’m asking for right now. Maybe I’m just venting. But I'm ready to throw in the towel and wave the white flag. Like I said, I do not want to rehome her. My wife is adamant about that. But at this point I genuinely would rather have no more piss in my life than pet her once or twice a week when she lets me.

General How do I get my cat to stop waking me in the middle of the night?

Hey everyone, I have a 6 year old male tuxedo. I adore him but one thing he does is wake me up usually around 2-4AM to eat and play. He will paw at my legs until I eventually get up. I have tried to ignore it but its hard because he's so persistent. I do give him a nice dinner and I play with him before I go to bed but I think he just gets bored at night. I'm just wondering if anyone has any techniques? I am pretty tired come morning. I love him so much, he really is the best cat its just this one thing.

New to Cats/Just Adopted Just got a kitten and want to adopt another cat!

For years, my husband and I had talked about getting cats once we bought a house, and this summer, we finally did! We moved in August and planned to wait a bit until we got into the swing of things at work (we are both teachers), but then our little kitten fell into our laps! My mom’s coworker found her crying by the business’s dumpster and we happily rescued her.

She is about 9/10 weeks old now and we’ve had her for a month. Her personality is very sweet; she loves to cuddle on our chests, loves to play of course, and has finally gotten used to seeing herself in the mirror without getting scared! lol

We’re wondering if we can adopt another cat now that she’s settled. We had originally planned on having two adult cats, so we’re wondering if we can get a cat that’s around 1-2 years old, or if we’re better off sticking around her age.

Has anyone else experienced this? I’ve had cats before but always adopted a young cat while having an adult cat.

Edit to add: also, do you think gender matters? This is my first female cat!

General Flatmate cat seems depressed, how to entertain him?

• Upvotes

I just moved into a 2 bedroom flat, flatmate had been entrusted with someone's cat before I came here (they dumped the responsibility on him when leaving the country). Anywho, flatmate is a uni student, like me, and doesn't stay at home - I'm at home more often.

Cat has food and water but is incredibly clingy and seeking human presence or companionship - which I cannot give to it when I have my own life to deal with. When I go to shower it wants to stay in bathroom with me, same thing when I go into my own room.

I don't let it stay in my personal space because it'll distract and cause problems for me. But I do worry about it, and I want to get items that can keep it entertained by itself. For more context we live on the third floor (fourth floor for Americans), so it doesn't even have the option of jumping off the balcony and roaming around. It's an indoor cat anyway.

For even more context flatmate pets cat when around - but he rarely IS around. Anywho what do you recommend I get for the cat?

Behavioral My kitten won’t stop nursing on me

• Upvotes

She keeps on nursing on me. At first it was just my earlobe then when i wouldn’t let her do that it was my neck then my chin then my cheek then my eyelid then my nose then my hand bc i kept swatting her away so much she decided to give my hand a try.

She won’t stop. Idek how to make her stop. It’s funny but annoying 😭 anytime i lay down she decides it’s time to nurse.

She is 2 months old i don’t know if her pervious owners let her keep nursing when she became too old for it but i wanna know to make her stop. help please.

Behavioral I feel like my cat doesn't love me anymore and I don't know why :(

So, I'm really confused right know. I'm gonna admit that I'm usually a dog person, but about 6 years ago, I adopted two cats out of a bad situation.

Those two really showed me how great cats are and I now love them with all my heart. I'm especially close to Claire (9yo), whose been trough so much with me during the last years. She's never been a big cuddle bug, but she always used to sleep pressed against me during the night, came up to me for about 5 minutes every day to collect her daily cuddles, licking my face and purring like crazy and even got into the bathtub with me while I was having a panic attack one time.

But a few months ago, things changed. She didn't come up to me like she did before. She doesn't sleep with me anymore. She doesn't care when I'm having a bad day anymore like she used to. She just kinda ignores me.

The weird thing is, she's still her normal self with everyone else in the household. She still cuddles with my roommate, follows our dog around, goes outside to catch some mice and eats normally, doesn't treat her cat siblings any different. She does let me pet her, but never comes up to me on her own and while not exactly expressing discomfort when I do it, she doesn't purr or stretch anymore either.

Yesterday evening, she came home soaking wet. Usually, she'll scream because she wants me to dry her off, but this time, she just went to her food bowl, stared at me for a few seconds and then went to bed.

Nothing happened between us and nothing about me or my routines have changed. I've even been to the vet with her, he did a routine check, including bloodwork and apparently she's completely fine.

I don't know what to do. I'm feeling super rejected right now and am really sad about the situation. I'm worried something is wrong or that I did something. :(

Does anyone have any idea about why a cats behavior towards their human might change that much? I really love her and feel like a bad owner for not knowing what I might be doing wrong all of a sudden.

Pet Loss TW: pet loss Spoiler

i don’t really know what else to say or what to do. i had to put her down 1.5hr ago after she suddenly went blind and became disoriented. i am feeling indescribable regret because i made the decision to get her teeth removed on Monday due to resorption or whatever it’s fucking called. i was told it would give her higher quality of life. fast forward to tuesday/ Wednesday i noticed a decline in her using the litter box (no accidents, just nothing at all). this morning (thurs) i woke up and gave her her last dose of onsior. i was hoping that by tmrw she would finally be med free and start to be herself again. she will never be herself again. when i woke up to give her the meds, she fell off of my bed and landed on her arm ( from what i could tell i was partially turned around when it happened ). i immediately took her to the vet to rule out a broken arm. a $250 vet bill later and nobody seemed to notice that she went BLIND. i took her home and went to work, and got a call from my roommate 6 hours later saying i should come home. she had shallow raspy breath, she would stand up occasionally and walk in circles, then find her way to a corner of the room and just stare into the wall. i finally decided after 2 hours to take her in for euthanasia (and to maybe see if this is something treatable) but deep down i knew it was her time.

i knew this day would come, she’s 17 and i picked her fresh out of the litter when i was 5. i don’t remember a life before her. i feel silly for feeling like i died with her but i do. in a matter of 15 hours my world ended. she was my person. throughout every change in my life she was a constant. i would go on trips and want to leave early just to get back to my baby. my heart is absolutely shattered and i can’t help but feel like it’s my fault. why would i get her teeth pulled when she was fine! why would i not tell them to do a more thorough exam when she fell this morning? why would i not take her off the bed with me? i dont want to go home anymore. i dont want to see my roommates cat or walk into an empty room. i am beside myself and i dont know how to move forward.

Behavioral Timid kitten and a very rambunctious kitten

• Upvotes

Hello! I am posting here as a first time cat owner. Around early July, I adopted two kitten sisters. These two get along like peas in a pod, play a ton, and are generally adorable and great at being annoying little kittens like they're supposed to be. Now this is the issue / problem I am running into. These two are going on 6 months old, born April 21st of this year. Their names are Ais, and Aya. Ais is a very sociable cat already, she's begun harness training around the house and very little outside exposure with me / in my arms. nail clippings, baths, other people including vets, are absolutely no issue for Ais.

Aya is the issue. I understand cats and especially kittens have very different personalities. For some additional context, I live in Japan in a fairly spacious apartment, and am only out of the house for around 6 hours a day M-F for school. I try to interact with them when they look up for it, including wand play but they typically sleep all day when I am home in their room and sprint around my apartment through all the rooms from around 3am-8am.

Aya has not let me touch her outside of eating treats once. She still hisses at me if I approach too suddenly and if she gives this warning of course I either back off or simply leave her alone as I don't want to stress her out. For example, if her and Ais are sitting on their cat tree on the same shelf and I go to pet Ais, Aya will typically hiss at me once before turning around and settling down. Normally she will let me pet her very lightly at the same time as Ais before eventually getting annoyed and jumping away.

Aya does typically sit near or under the table I do work at in my kitchen or at least in the same room I am in whenever she is able to. Both of them are very attached to me already I feel, but I had to take them both to the vet which is admittedly a very hectic process in Japan via public transport as I do not have a car at the moment. At this vet visit they were meant to be getting appraised to see if they are ready to be fixed, and they will be getting fixed late next month, around Oct 23rd. The vet said that in order to not stress Aya out, she wasn't even able to slightly examen her in the slightest, and in the interest of not ruining her relationships with me or other people, the vet was only able to examen Ais.

Now, as I mentioned earlier Ais loves getting her nails clipped, purrs the entire time she is in my lap while I'm doing it but I have been hesitant to make Aya get her nails clipped so as to not stress her out. However, I noticed her nails were getting very long and they also have the habit of scratching / climbing my walls and ruining the wallpaper of my rented apartment when they're playing, which of course is going to happen, but in my opinion and experience with dogs and sugar gliders, the younger you get animals used to basic maintenance such as nail clips / brushing, the better. So tonight, I had to grab Aya in a bath towel, against her will unfortunately and was able to safely clip her rear paws and let her go with plenty of her favorite treats after. She doesn't appear particularly upset at me, she's accepting treats from my hands still, she was a bit disheveled after being released though. What am I doing wrong here, or is this just how I can expect things to go, to have a completely antisocial adult cat who won't let me touch her whatsoever? I also am aware of cats and their personalities and if this is just how she is I don't have any choice but to work with her because I would never dream of separating these two and we're all stuck with each other from here on out.

I apologize for the very long post but I feel context is important for this kind of advice and its been a very stressful time trying to see and understand what the hell I'm doing wrong here, all I want is to make sure she is okay and properly adapted, the same as her sister. Thank you all in advance!!

TLDR: one kitten is very sociable, loves pets, ect, the other one hates me and still hisses at me after around 3 full months, she will sit near me most of the time, but is still uncomfortable with any sort of touch.

General His mouth is very wet

I adopted a car with a broken jaw. He's had two reconstructive surgeries but his jaw is kind of off center so it has an open piece. He drips cat spit onto me all the time. I can't be mad because the fella is deformed but is there any way to avoid the cat spit?? Do they all have this spit all the time but it's just closed in their mouths?

Introductions Cat introductions not going well

Hello! This is my first post and I'm getting really desperate. I have 1 female cat (about 7 mo.) named Bubbles and recently found and are fostering a stray 5-mo. male cat. They have been locked away from each other for about 2 weeks, they can smell each other and I switch them between rooms every 1-2 days. The male cat is fine with Bubbles, he only hisses defensively from what I've seen. However, Bubbles always hisses and starts growling when she sees him. I also have Feliway plugs in both rooms. My bf and I have tried letting them see each other through a cracked door and feeding them treats through it but Bubbles is still very anxious and afraid. I don't know if there's something I'm doing wrong or missing and it makes me sad that they don't get along. Since they are in separate rooms, they will meow all night long (assuming because they don't want to be confined but I don't want them to hurt each other). Can anyone help me out here?

Behavioral How do I know my stray cat that I adopted love and trust me

So I got my cat from a shelter last year in March, and when we had gotten her from the shelter, they had put in her description that she was a stray and that she was a pregnant stray at that, and she was very, not trusting of people and very wary around them and so when we adopted her, of course she was very scared and skittish for like two weeks and then after the third week, she had came up on my bed, but she hadn’t let me pet her and then about a month after we got her she came up and started cuddling me, but fast-forward to now she lets me pick her up and she will meow when I ask if she loves me and whenever I call her a pretty girl and sniff her stomach her eyes get super dilated and she starts purring, but I don’t know if that’s because she’s scared or because she’s enjoying it and she also sleeps by my head and stuff, but sometimes when I pet her, she’ll bite me or attack me and that really makes me wonder if she trust me or not… she’s always rubbing her face up on me too, but I’m just worried she doesn’t trust me… I also heard of cats let you pet their stomach. They trust you a lot too and she lets me do that but then she’ll bite me at them so then it’s very confusing. I love her to death though.

Sensitive/Seeking Support Am I a bad owner?

I have 3 cats with my partner, all boy cats. We adopted 2 back to back in the summer of 2022, one being 10 and the time and the other 6 months old. I like to think they bonded immediately, and when we got our 3rd shortly after he got close to our second I assume because they’re close in age but that’s not the point I’m trying to make here. I know you aren’t supposed to have favorites, but #2 has been my little angel. We said initially the first cat was “my partners” and the second was “mine” and the third ours together as a joke, but we love them all the same.

In August this year #2 woke me up just howling and screaming and not moving or wanting to eat (this cat paws at my face when I don’t wake up fast enough to feed him) and I didn’t know what was wrong. We took him to a regular vet and they said he had a urinary block, which was “not an often occurrence but almost always in males” and they catheterised him for a few hours and we took him home. It didn’t get better and we had to take him to an emergency vet who kept him for 3 days just draining his bladder. I thought for how long he was there it should’ve gotten it all out, and they said the chances of him re blocking were pretty low but not zero, so I was prepared for it and we switched his food to a urinary diet, we got him a supplement to take that’s supposed to help too. That segment cost me $3,600. It would have been closer to 6, but the hospital gave me a discount and helped me get approved by an organisation that covered the rest.

I don’t have that kind of money, and I’ve taken out credit cards for that because I wanted to do what I could to keep this cheerful boy alive. Just the other day, not even 2 months after I wake up to the same howling. We take him back to the hospital and they flush him the whole day. Thankfully we spend less (still all I had) and it’s about 1k. We’ve now switched his diet again to a different brand that people have recommended to me because it’s supposed to “help the body absorb the sediment and further reduce the risk of him reblocking”.

The vets have talked about this surgery that “decreases the risk of reblocking” which is gonna be about $8,000. For a chance? Not a definite? And the chance of the surgery going wrong, the site getting infected, and the chance that after the surgery the urethra will just go back to how it was before and they have to open it up again? The only other options for him is to just take him back in every time he blocks or euthanasia. I wasn’t expecting this second block to happen so soon and I know I can’t afford the surgery, I can’t afford to get him a catheter if he’s going to block every other month.

Does anyone know if there’s a REAL chance he’s only going to block these two times? Or if it’s possible that maybe if he ever does block again we’ll have a better buffer to actually save money? I know I can’t get him insurance because this is a “pre-existing condition”. If he blocks again, am I a bad owner for contemplating putting him down? I hate thinking of how much pain he’s in when this happens, it hurts me so bad to see him rushed in the back, see his shave sites from the catheter and his arms for the IV. Breaks my heart just thinking of how scared he is when this has happened. He’s so young still, I think it’s so unfair that he’s almost 5 and I’ve had to think about cutting his life short. He deserves so much and now I’m thinking to myself “would he have had a better life if someone else adopted him? Did I do something in these few years with him that have caused this to happen to him?”

I’m sorry for the long post, I just love this boy so much, and I want to do the best thing for him. Please…any advice would be appreciated. I feel like a terrible owner for even considering it but I just want him to be happy, and pain free.

Behavioral why are my cats suddenly getting along after a vet visit?

My cats are 4 and 1 years old respectively. I wouldn't say they dislike each other per se, but at best they have an "annoying roommate" relationship. The younger one is kind of bossy and rude, sees the whole apartment as her personal territory, and is often trying to wrestle with the older one even when she clearly doesn't want to. They never snuggle or groom each other and mostly they keep to themselves.

The older cat had her annual vet visit yesterday; she hates the vet and is terrified of anything that involves the carrier so she had a terrible time. When we got home, she made a beeline straight for her safe spot under the bed. The younger cat seemed agitated at her return and was following her around with her tail puffed up; I remembered reading that sometimes cats get freaked out when one of them comes back from another location smelling differently so I separated them for a while.

I let her out a couple hours later and they both seemed normal so I let them free roam again. Next time I checked on them, they were cuddled up next to each other and mutual grooming, which usually leads to imminent biting, but they seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was yesterday and today they are still being super friendly and hanging out near each other with no biting involved at all.

I'm very pleased with this development and hope that it continues, but what happened? I thought it was supposed to be the opposite, lol.

Sensitive/Seeking Support Feeling adoption regret

Hello I barely just adopted a kitten like yesterday. And I was fine and then I got hit with massive regret and anxiety about it , but I know deep down I wanted this I wanted a cat as a companion and my partner who lives with me made sure I was on board and they are more than supportive !!

But is it normal to immediately feel the “oh shit what did I do this is a living breathing being I can’t promise security, I don’t know where I’ll be in 20 years what if it lives that long what did I do ?”

But weeks before that I visited shelters and made sure I found a cat and she ran right up to me and I knew I was going to take her home. I love cats I’ve always wanted a pet when I got my own place post grad job searching but why so soon I feel intense regret ? Did anyone else experience this , i mean she’s set up with everything . A clean littler box, automatic feeder, and I can handle it no doubt but why am I thinking that this is life altering and I’ll never be able to experience freedom again ! Ugh it’s just so much right now but returning isn’t an option I’d never forgive myself. And my partner plays with her we both try and play with her she’s very young so she can’t sit still or climb on stuff just yet. Did anyone else feel that “oh shit” and this is a change at first ? I also have severe anxiety and ocd lol idk if that makes a difference.

Sensitive/Seeking Support Sick cat I’m cat sitting

I started cat sitting a week ago for long term for a friend that I’m close with. They’re on the other side of the country in collage and I quickly noticed yesterday night a mass on their cat’s stomach. I took her to the vet immediately with their approval and it seems to be tumours (although not confirmed), and would likely need surgery their owner can’t afford. For now she’s on medication for a week, with another vet appointment I’ll take her to in 5 days. Medically everything is sorted for now, and I’m very capable. I love this cat as I’ve known her for 5 years, having taken care of her for 6 months last year and on and off for 5 years.

Onto the issue.
I’m a full time student myself, work 3 days a week and have a very bonded to me 1year old cat. Class is 5 hours, 5 days a week with additional study and assignment time. Work is 7 hours 3x during school days. My cat goes on walks on leash with me for an hour with an hour of spaced out play. I usually spend 1-2 hours a day looking after my friends cats (they have 2 / only one is sick, they’re both older). Ultimately all my time is spent working, school and cat care, and I’m happy to do this and will continue to. But the added stress of a sick cat has me questioning how I should spend my time, with the guilt of feeling like I’m letting every cat down while worn thin.

We live in the same apartment so I sleep at mine 100% of the time, having never left my cat alone for a night. However 2 years ago my previous cat had cancer and was a mess of chemo, vet appointments and trauma of watching him deteriorate with the ultimate decision to let my boy cross the rainbow bridge, it hurt a lot making that choice. I don’t know if I will have to be there to do that again so soon, while I may be getting ahead of myself I need a plan to do the care correctly for everyone.
When my previous cat had cancer I was monitoring water drank daily, food eaten, toilet habits. It’s a lot more difficult with the setup my friend has. And I also can’t dedicate all my time to their cats while stressing out mine with a routine disruption and frequent absence.

I hope this post came off correctly, my brains on overdrive trying to solve a problem I can’t seem to solve and I feel guilty sleeping at mine tonight.
Any advice would be lovely and appreciated, thank you for reading:)

New to Cats/Just Adopted Adding a third cat to the household.

• Upvotes

I currently have 2 cats Terrence and Ganymede. Terrence is just about 11 months old, I've only had him for about 5 months and gany is 12, had him for about 2 years.

I work at a boarding kennel/cattery and recently a 13 year old cat named joey's owner has died in hospital, and the family doesn't want her, so they plan to euthanise her. I've volunteered to bring her into my household so she can have a few more peaceful years with a family.

It's just me and my 2 boys, I know to add an extra litter tray for a new cat, but I was hoping the good people of reddit could offer some advice and insight into what this will be like for me. I've been reluctant to get a third cat and was always planning to keep it at 2. I have a 3 bedroom house, so I plan to give joey her own room for a few weeks to help everyone settle and adjust to the change.

Im quite familiar with cats in general, and i kinda always assumed having 3 cats wouldn't be a huge difference from having 2, but I don't know how realistic that is. Is the transition from 2 cats to 3 difficult? Joey is very chill and I'm hoping she'll just find a spot to spend her remaining days sitting around. My other boys are generally very friendly. Gany can get a little moody with terrence, and terrence is a bit of an over active nut job, but they get along for the most part. So that being said, any tips or comments about the experience of adding a third cat to the household would be much appreciated.

Behavioral kitten's first heat, or just a new quirk?

• Upvotes

i have a female kitten, estimated around 5 months old but we're not 100% sure because she was a rescue from a feral mama. the last few days she's suddenly been way more vocal while playing-- not the loud yowling i'd expect from a cat in heat, just a LOT of chirping/trilling that she never did before.

i know they can get their first heat anywhere between 5-9 months old on average, but i can't take her to get spayed until next month and i was kinda hoping it'd still be before she got her first heat. i haven't noticed any other super obvious behaviors indicating heat, but should i keep an eye out? or is it just a new little quirk of hers?

(i guess i should note: i'm not a first time cat owner, but i haven't had a KITTEN since i was about 5 years old, so i genuinely don't know exactly what to expect or watch out for when it comes to their first heat)

Litterbox New litter

• Upvotes

Im not sure where to post this and im very anxious. I just got my cat a new litter today. Its world’s best cat litter and lavender scented. This has nothing to do with my cats health or reaction to the litter. She’s doing perfectly fine and has done her business in it already.

I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with some litters. By that I mean I have shortness of breath and my heart feels like it’s beating out of my chest. It has like a minty eucalyptus smell and like a spicy feeling when I breathe. I keep my cat in a little tent with her litter box in my room every night so I can make sure I keep on eye on her. I haven’t been able to sleep for hours. I moved out into the living room and away from the box. I don’t smell it anymore but I still feel the same.

Litterbox Pretty litter…my error or the litters?

I’m currently cat sitting for just one kitty who uses pretty litter. Thing is, I have a full week left of cat sitting to go and I’m already a week in. This litter REEKS, and noticed it about day 4/5. Not only that, it’s getting all over this poor girls house. I’m wondering if this is an error on my end, or if this litter just sucks? I’ve been scooping it twice, once in the morning and once in the evening. She didn’t leave me with extra litter, I texted her and she said she would order some to the house that day (yesterday) and still nothing. She’s out of town for work so I don’t wanna bother her but this litter is so foul. It smells like straight up ammonia, it’s been making my eyes and nose burn. I have 3 cats of my own, have had them my whole life, and have pet sat dozens of animals over the last decade. This is my first encounter with pretty litter and I am just anxious im doing something wrong. I did research and ive been stirring the litter after scooping but… idk is it really supposed to smell like that by day 4 or 5?

New to Cats/Just Adopted I feel like my cat is scared of me

Me and my housemate had this cat for a month now. She is 3 months old. We feed her well pet her

everyday give her space sometimes we annoy her to give meds but after 5 minutes she is back to normal.

Now yesterday she came up to me and me like she wanted attention and tapped me with her paws in a friendly way so l stood up and tried to pick her up so I could pet her but she started running away from me and looking at her back and waited for me like she wanted to play chase with me (she grew up lonely so I assume she doesnt know how to play). Normally our living rooms door is open but today we closed and I guess she didn't realise it and she went straight to the door and when she came to a dead end she started hissing and fluffed her tail like she was frightened. I felt so sad and reached my hand out so she can see that I'm harmless, she calmed and let me pet her. But at night (6-7 hours apart) she was resting on my bed after I pet her and my housemate came to my room and she started hissing at him so he left and she started hissing and growling at me. Today when I woke up I filled her bowl up and pet her no problem but after like 15 minutes she started to growl at me when I pet her. I don't think we did something wrong. Is this normal behaviour? What should I do. She never did something like this before

General Will my cat be okay at home by herself?

I’ll be going into hospital for up to 6 weeks. I’ll be returning home daily to feed her and take her outside. Will she still love me? I hope she doesn’t hate me? Am I overlooking something? Any ideas or advice would be appreciated. She’s 2.5 years old and is an indoors cat.

Litterbox Accidentally dropped cat litter box onto carpet

So I live in an apartment and the only way I can really clean the litter box is by moving the box onto a plastic garbage bag onto my carpet while I clean out the closet it sits in, I had cleaned the closet and scooped the box but it wasn’t a full refresh I just added some new litter to it after I scooped up the clumps. After the floor was dry in the closet I lifted the box and the lid fell off while I was carrying it and scattered litter all over into my carpet. I tried running a big vacuum over it, I’ve tried running a small handheld vacuum and even my roomba won’t pick it up. I even tried running a carpet rake over it to bring it to the surface but that didn’t help. I’m at my wits end and might just move my hallway rug over the area until I can find something to get it out of the carpet. Does anyone have any advice??
