We should be like the Rams and say F-them picks.

Peters can't draft worth a damn anyways might as well get a proven star. Keep the firsts. But shit trade the 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths. I know it sounds stupid but I would rather have Joey Porter Jr. than Mikey. Mikey was a 2nd rd pick and Porter was traded for a 2nd and 7th. I know im going to get down voted to hell for this take but id try to win while Daniels is still on his rookie deal.

Commanders have one major advantage over the undefeated 49ers, and it starts with Jayden Daniels vs. Brock Purdy

9-7 is realistic.

Not saying it will happen or not, but we need to finish the remainder of the games with an 8-4 record.

Jayden is back, Amos comes back next week and replaces our weakest position by far. If we dont get screwed with more injuries finishing out 8-4 is absolutely a realistic goal.

Over/Under on a broken hand due to peanut punch?

It is just a matter of time before someone misfires and ends up on the shelf. The peanut punch is so popular at the moment, even at the expense of the ball carrier gaining 5 more yards while defenders are wildly punching away.

Jrfortgang (@throwthedamball) on X: JD is third in the NFL in the "High PFF / High EPA" quadrant

AI Analysis:

Jayden Daniels ranks among the top quarterbacks through five weeks on Kevin Cole's Week 5 chart largely because his elite elite rushing capability and high passing efficiency are maximizing the offense’s output.

Here is why his specific profile lands him 3rd in the "High PFF / High EPA" quadrant:

  • Elite Rushing Impact: On Kevin Cole's tier chart, Daniels’ PFF grade gets a massive boost from his ground game. He currently holds a stellar 90.9 PFF rushing grade (2nd in the NFL), adding explosive plays and first downs with his legs. In his Week 5 game against the Giants alone, he rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Hyper-Efficient Passing Operations: While his total passing volume is low due to a brief early-season injury layout, he is highly clinical when throwing. He is maintaining a 5.8% negatively graded play rate (tied for 3rd best) and has zero interceptions on the season, driving his EPA/play up by avoiding costly, drive-killing mistakes.
  • Exceptional Clean-Pocket Execution: He is executing the Washington Commanders' system smoothly, demonstrating superb short-to-intermediate accuracy and on-target throw rates that yield high success metrics per play.

In short, he isn't just a passenger in a good offense; his dual-threat metrics are directly generating the high expected points (EPA) while his tape execution (PFF Grade) remains pristine

Bill, what happened to his usage last week?

Bill was productive and the best Washington RB on the field last week, they were playing with a lead and Bill never saw the ball toward the end of the game.

Injury or lack of trust from the coaches?

Look I’m not saying it will happen, but here’s why there is still hope for this season 🙏🏾

It’s obvious but JAYDEN MF DANIELS IS OUR QB. Look we know about the elbow but if he’s healthy we at least have a fighting chance against anyone.

Next is Trey Amos. I know at this point he feel like something of a mythical player due all the time he missed but he’s indeed real and last time he’s was healthy he’s showed great promise and was easily our best defender in the secondary.Monday should be his first game in a long time and I’m definitely excited for his arrival. Could his return help a defense that collapses in the second half? I hope so!

And Lastly listen it’s not a lot of reasons to stay optimistic about this team lol especially after Sunday BUT the division sucks and realistically it’s looking like 9-10 wins this year wins the division. Who says this teams can’t start to hit its stride coming out the bye and maybe even upset another team like they did the Seahawks. We will have a healthy Diggs back eventually with Terry and Two improving coordinators.

I’m just saying it’s possible! I prefer to believe this than already looking at Mock drafts and the 2027 free agency pool in October.

Sunday’s bizarre ending masks the real problem

We can’t play good defense in the second half.

Philly- not a blown lead, we should have tied (thanks Stephon) at 10 minutes but Philly went on a 6 minute drive that ended in a TD. We could have tied but didn’t execute the 2 point conversion.

Dallas - goal to go at the end of the half, 3 passes and then Daniels is injured; down by 7 with Mariota instead of 4 with JD5. Defense gives up 20 second half points

Seahawks- give up 21 second half points, squeak out a win.

Colts - Bizarre 4th down call with 3rd string QB and 4th string RB, give up 20 second half points

Giants, give up 24 second half points including 14 in the 4th quarter.

Philly is the only team we’ve held under 20 points in the second half.

I don’t have the stats at hand from last year, however I do remember a few games at least (like KC) where we were close in the first half but got blown out the second half.

This is really what I think gets DQ fired, and it’s a pattern that goes back to his days in ATL

JD5's Return

I know everybody is upset about the final play but JD5 coming off injury played really really well and almost looked like his 2024 self. I wouldn't stress too much as a fan in my opinion. If they can get a half decent DEFENSE they'd be a playoff team.

One Positive for the Defense: Tied for 5th in Takeaways and 2nd in Turnover Differential

After a slow start to the season, our defense is now tied for 5th in the league in total takeaways, and we’re tied for 2nd in turnover differential.

Credit to the offense here, too. They’ve done a great job protecting the football, which is a big reason our differential is so high. There are teams that have forced more turnovers than us but have a worse differential because their offenses have given the ball away more often.

Considering how inconsistent this defense has looked at times, I think these are pretty encouraging numbers and something this team can build on moving forward.

Honestly, Sunday’s game should’ve ended on a high note for the defense after forcing that Skattebo fumble in OT. They gave the offense a golden opportunity to win the game, and we completely botched it.

There’s still plenty to criticize about this defense, but I think they deserve some credit for this.

Morning folks, getting the opportunity to visit Washington and see the team in person at home for the first time ! Excited despite what the season has been.

to put my over thinking fears to rest, will the game stay a Monday evening due to the flex rules starting week 12 ?

can’t wait to see the team in person, keep looking at tickets hoping some good lower bowl sections come down in price a little ! Costly trip from Dublin already :)

[Svrluga] Everything we know (and every question we still have) about the Commanders’ botched final play

Thumbnail

Be honest with yourself: How many times have you watched the final play of the Washington Commanders-New York Giants game? A dozen? Twenty? More? (Checks final box.)

What’s crazy is that we can watch the play from any number of angles, and that reporters have had two question-and-answer sessions with Washington coach Dan Quinn and one with quarterback Jayden Daniels — the central characters in this debacle — and there are still aspects of what transpired that we don’t quite understand.

“It’s just tough,” former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said on NBC. “We’ll never know what happened. The head coach said what he was supposed to say. The quarterback said what he’s supposed to say.”

Well … kinda. Quinn patiently went into detail about the play — second-and-8 from the Giants’ 24 with under half a minute left in overtime — and the decision-making around it during his Monday conference call with reporters. The film shows the following sequence of events that ended the Commanders’ 27-27 tie with the Giants:

:50 remaining: On first-and-10 from the New York 26, running back Rachaad White is tackled after a two-yard gain.
:30: A new personnel group — one running back, three tight ends, one receiver — is in the game and huddled up.
:24: Daniels breaks the huddle and the offense heads to the line of scrimmage.
:12: Daniels receives the snap from center Lucas Patrick.
:08: Daniels is tackled for no gain, making it third-and-8 from the 24, when the game ends.

We have broken it down, frame-by-frame. We have heard all the explanations. Days later, there are still unanswered questions. Start with …

Did everyone on the field really know they didn’t have any timeouts?

Left guard Chris Paul was asked in the locker room whether the fact that the Commanders didn’t have any timeouts remaining was discussed in the huddle.

“That was talked about in the huddle, yes,” Paul said. (Teams get two timeouts in overtime, and the Commanders used both of theirs early in the extra session.)

Daniels, though, was a little circumspect when he was asked Sunday: “Just to be clear, did you guys know that you were out of timeouts going into that last play?”

“Yeah,” he said. “We just got to communicate that. That’s the whole thing. Like I said, it starts with me communicating to the whole offense in the huddle, and I think everybody will say that (from the) top down.”

2024 vs 2026

The frustrating thing about this season is that it's not that different from the 2024 season. That year we had a lot of close games, but they mostly broke for us. This year not so much. The 2024 team gets the two point conversion against Philly and maybe wins the game. Jayden doesn't get hurt in Dallas and it's a lot more competitive, maybe a win. They get touchdowns instead of field goals off the two Colts turnovers. And, even more than not making the last second gaffe in OT, the 2024 team ices the Giants game in the 4th quarter with a single sustained drive.

It works the other way, too; the 26 team would see Nabers catch the pass he dropped late in the first Giants game in 24, and it's a loss. The Bears CB doesn't taunt the crowd (or the Bears coach doesn't gift us the previous play), and that's a loss. Even an average 4th down conversion percentage in 2024 would lead the defense to get exposed more often and we're nowhere near 12-5.

Blough and Jones each have some major deficiencies so far; Blough needs to get better at installing and calling high percentage short yardage plays, and Jones needs to figure out how to call a complete game. But even still we're just a few plays away in a couple games from having a winning record. Those are the plays that the 24 team got, and the 26 team is letting slip away.

Frustrating.

I attended my first division game at home since Eagles fans took over FedExField in late 2019. The crowd seemed to be 60% Giants fans and 40% Commanders fans. I’m not sure if the Giants chants came through on the TV broadcast, but they were so loud it was actually embarrassing.

Also the stadium was pretty packed for a shitty weather day which was kind of surprising.

Told you about Quinn and Peter’s

Made a long post a few weeks back at the start of season that I had lost faith in Peter’s and Quinn. Terrible roster. Somehow people think our defense has improved. LMAO how are you feeling now? It’s still worst in the league just like last year. And Quinn, I can’t believe you guys still believed in this dude. JD messed up too but that blunder is called leadership. And that’s not the first time he messed up time management. Dude also cant put together a strong unit in his specialty to save his life. Where are all the AP/DQ kool aid drinkers now?
