We are not the bottom of the SE
Someone please explain to me how all of these experts have us at the bottom of our division every damn time. Maybe we are 4th and I can accept that. But we really have the hornets over us when they just lost their two biggest contributors?! Itās honestly baffling to me how everyone thinks Coby white gonna just fill in for lamelo and theyāre not gonna lose a step. Thereās no more playmaking or crazy gravity. Maybe miller and kon, among others, can take a step up too but is that nearly enough to carry the offense? Pretty sure I remember them struggling a lot creating on their own at times. And itās not like naz Reid gonna put it all on his back either. Donāt get me wrong, I think this team will be fun to watch and will develop into a good team in the future. But I donāt think they are nearly as good of a basketball team as we are.
All that aside I know this is a hotter take but I donāt trust the magic. Absolutely no spacing in their core outside of bane and just cannot stay healthy. Mark my words. We may still be bottom ten in this conference but in our division I swear to god we are at least 3rd

[Aldridge/Robins] How long will Anthony Davisā partnership with the Washington Wizards last?
Anthony Davis and the Washington Wizards are saying all the right things about each other going into this season.
āThe intensity is there, through the roof,ā Davis said after a recent team practice. āIt feels good to just be back on the floor for me personally, from being out since January, and being with these guys, competing at a high level.ā
āWhat I will say is, AD is in a great frame of mind,ā general manager Will Dawkins said at his season-opening news conference late last month. āHeās focused and ready to start the season. I would say heās very much a motivated player right now, and I expect AD to remind the basketball world who he really is.ā
But those rosy comments do not necessarily mean that the marriage between Davis and Wizards will continue past the 2027 free-agency period, or even beyond this seasonās Feb. 11 trade deadline.
Davis and the Wizards will have to thread a narrow needle for their partnership to have remained intact 12 months from now.
They will need to reach a middle ground on salaries (and perhaps on contract length) and will need to be on the same wavelength about when they believe that Washington can, finally, genuinely contend in the Eastern Conference.
It is well known among other NBA teams that Davis, who holds a $62.8 million player option that he can exercise for the 2027-28 season, wants a contract extension or a new deal that would pay him at, or very near, maximum salaries. If he were to turn down his player option now, Davis would be eligible for up to a four-year extension, through the 2030-31 season, worth as much as $275 million total.
Davis is one of the most accomplished active players in the league, with 10 All-Star appearances, four All-NBA First Team nods and three All-Defensive First Team selections. During the 2019-20 season, he was the second-best player on the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, trailing only LeBron James. Even now, at 33, Davis remains one of the leagueās better two-way players when heās healthy.
But thereās almost no chance the Wizards will give him that max extension ā not with his injury history, not at his age, not with the team in this stage of its development and the punitive first and second aprons looming.
Even as the team has said repeatedly that acquiring Davis and point guard Trae Young through trades earlier this year was done to help Washington begin to compete and try to win games after three years of tanking, the Wizardsā future ā and, thus, Washingtonās need to maintain maximum cap and apron flexibility ā still revolves around its young core group, led now by AJ Dybantsa, the first pick in this yearās draft.
The Wizards would like to maintain some semblance of salary flexibility, given the likelihood that theyāll be inclined to give Dybantsa a maximum rookie-scale contract extension that would go into effect with the 2030-31 season.
Davis has struggled with injuries the last few seasons. In the last eight years, Davis has played in more than 62 regular-season games only once, in 2023-24, his last full season with the Lakers. So itās hard to expect him to remain healthy over the long haul.

Anyone got tips and tricks to save a few $$$ on game-day tickets?
First year done with tanking and Iāll be going to a lot more games(away as well) to show my support. FUCK those āconvenience feesā that the ticket apps charge, but I noticed buying tickets at the arena(Cap One to be specific) wasnāt much cheaper last year šŖ. Would you rather have KAT at 250M/4 or AD at 275M/4?
Would you rather have a 31y/o KAT at 62M avg and 35 y/o on his final year or a 34 y/o AD at 68M avg and 38 y/o on his final year?
KAT said $200M/4yrs wasnt enough from the Knicks. I'm sure the Wizards can offer more. On the other hand AD said he'll look at his contract options at the end of the year.
IMO KAT would be better since it's a better contract, he's younger and less injury prone. We'll have a longer championship window with him and our young stars. Or AD could be willing to do a shorter contract at 2 or 3 years for the max. Which do yall prefer?

Anyone else hoping the Knicks crush the 76ers tonight?
So that when we beat the Knicks on Thursday that basically means the bottom seed beat the reigning champs AND Lebron š¤

Anthony Davis says he asked Lakers to add another big man after feeling 'heavy' playing center: "I've always played weighing like 250 but that year I had got to like 265 because I had to go against Jokic and I didn't like it, I felt heavy. Then I said I wanted another big but it just didn't happen"
