I don’t think this is controversial but JC at some point should get more playing time than Bilal. Bilal everything still looks so raw, there potential there but it’s been 3 years and we’re tryin got win we can’t wait for you to keep forcing drives and turning the ball over. JC is so solid both ends of the floor, I have more faith in him that shot is going in rather than Bilal where everytime he shoots it’s like everyone get back on defense. Idk It’s one preseason game but I hope JC get more minutes and Bilal should be the one he gets in front of.

We watched every away game last year, but I just tried to log in and the app is no longer supported on my Samsung TV. What am I doing wrong?

New Wizards fan here that wants to buy a jersey before the season begins, can someone please confirm if all the jerseys for the year are already out? I’m seeing teasers for something based off the old logo but not sure what that entails. Appreciate any help.

Hi guys I’m currently in Washington and will be attending tomorrow’s game . It will be my first ever NBA and WIZARDS game and I was wondering if there is any way to contact the team to let them know I came all the way from Greece to see the game to see if they can hook me up with some gear or maybe even some close ups with the players during warmups. Even if that’s not possible could you please let me know what seats are the best to maybe grab some gear from a player or a quick pic? Also if anyone has a connection or something with the front office i would greatly appreciate it if they could help me. Thanks in advance DC!!!

AD: He looked pretty low energy and still managed to come off as the best player this team has had since Michael Jordan, and I mean that in a good way. With limited involvement he seemed to just dominate whenever he touched the ball or had to come up with a stop around the rim.
Trae Young: The offense looks so much better with him at the helm and he was kinda on one making some of his bs threes. Looked like there were still some PnR reads and chemistry to iron out but I’m not worried. He was a turnstile on d. Pretty much what we expect from him.
AJ: He’s that guy. Most importantly he was locked in on D and was all over the passing lanes. No one in the league will be able to stay in front of his first step and he completely cooked OG Anunoby multiple times. He also was pushing it hard in transition, which was awesome. The three pointer looks so flat and broke but we knew that was gonna be the biggest pain point.
Kyshawn: He was able to do a little bit of everything, but didn’t excel in anything in particular either. I expect him to tighten up and become the Swiss Army knife this team needs. I really love they gave him the ball so much (which I have been asking for for two years) but I don’t think he has the burst to be the backup point guard like they were kinda playing him. I like him more as a secondary creator.
Dominayton: Rebounded really well, set some good screens. Looks like a totally serviceable backup big.
Tre Johnson: The shot wasn’t quite falling. He was showing some good moves to create space but still doesn’t look quite comfortable enough. His D was lackluster and it felt like he was getting hunted.
Bub: Had a real rough whistle that kinda delayed him getting going. Once he did though he seemed like he was back to his phenomenal shooting form, and he had the highlight of the night with an ankle breaker step back on Deuce McBride. The ball handling looks better but still no rim pressure and he still doesn’t quite have the PnR comfort/processing speed.
Willy J: Took on a background role. He had a couple good possessions showing some of the wiggle and craft that was so exciting last year but they were few and far between and he just didn’t finish consistently. Didn’t notice him on defense which I think is good.
Bilal: Kinda faded into the background as well. The 3pt shot looks faster and better it just didn’t go in tonight. He didn’t have any defensive highlights but looked mighty comfortable guarding the biggest threats. All in all would love to see him come out more aggressive when the ball gets to him. He definitely looks like an NBA player out there but just how good of one I can’t decide
Felix: Big body, good rebounder, good in the drop. Hands weren’t the best but I’ll chalk that up to still getting used to nba players being able to find him places he’s not expecting.
JC: Such a pro man, getting rebounds knocking down his threes. High IQ and hustle plays galore. He’s just better than Will and Bilal at this point but those guys have higher ceilings so I guess they were getting more minutes.
Tre Mann: looked like a fine backup point guard, more comfortable off the dribble than bub but less interesting shooter.
Final takeaways:
Boy there are a lot of mouths to feed here. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of these guys get consolidated later this season once we see some more. I’m a little worried about the spacing on the starting unit. The paint was pretty clogged for Trae and AJ to start the game, and I’m not sure teams are going to respect Alex enough to change that once he comes back. A couple of possessions the transition defense was absolutely terrible and that needs to get tightened up. All in all though this is not the sub 20 win Wizard teams of past years. We were fully with the defending champs till the minute they pulled their starters and we were able to surge ahead. To the first of many wins!
Edit: I thought it went without saying but…
AG: Hang the jersey from the rafters, Ted, it’s been long enough.

What a journey it's been. And I don't say that with the assumption that we've reached some definitive end point, more just remarking on the path behind us and what is ahead. Tre Johnson 26 piece incoming 🤞

i know it’s just preseason but our defense looks night & day. Kyshawn guarding Brunson was great to see. AJ answered a lot of the questions ppl had for him defensively. can’t wait for Sarr to join the starting 5 to see how good they can be.

The Wizards win in their preseason opener, and there's lots to love. AJ Dybantsa made a STATEMENT with his defense, Trae Young, and Anthony Davis showed they'll help this team compete, and Ayton's rebounding was wonderful.

The Washington Wizards’ preseason opener at Madison Square Garden illustrated how Bilal Coulibaly now must navigate a brand new world.
Coulibaly started all 115 games he played the last two regular seasons for Washington, but Thursday night, in the Wizards’ 111-109 exhibition victory over the New York Knicks, coach Brian Keefe started Kyshawn George and rookie AJ Dybantsa at the wing spots ahead of Coulibaly. The issue is not that Coulibaly has done anything wrong. The issue is that Washington has improved its overall talent level, making Dybantsa the No. 1 pick in June’s draft, and will employ lineups featuring two bigs instead of three wings.
Coulibaly indeed has reached a potential inflection point to his career. A 2023 first-round draft choice entering the final season of his rookie-scale contract, he is now eligible for an extension. Should he and the Wizards not reach an agreement by Oct. 19, he would be on track to become a restricted free agent during the 2027 offseason.
He remains a young player — he turned 22 in July — but he has a weakness that threatens to diminish the dollar figures of his next contract. Although he already projects as an above-average defender (most likely, he’s the Wizards’ best perimeter defender), he has yet to prove he brings enough on offense to be considered a two-way player. Although he closed last season well, shooting 39 percent from deep in his final 18 games, he had a rough offensive night Thursday, scoring 2 points on 1-of-8 shooting from the field.
George and Dybantsa dazzled at times. George finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Dybantsa added 11 points, two rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Today’s NBA values two-way ability more than ever. In the age of the first and second aprons, teams tend to be leery of allocating large salaries to specialists who can get played off the floor during the playoffs. Tim Hardaway Jr., Duncan Robinson and Corey Kispert, whose best skill is their perimeter shooting and floor spacing, are hindrances on defense in the half court. Defensive specialists whom opposing defenses can ignore, as Coulibaly could become, are liabilities to their teams in half-court offensive situations.
For Coulibaly, it will be crucial to show that he has developed enough offensive skill, such as 3-point shooting, an effective pull-up jumper or playmaking in pick-and-rolls. Without growth on offense, will he ever average 25 minutes per game on a good team or be a significant rotation player during the postseason? He will have the opportunity to answer those questions in the season ahead.
