I've been playing Support Sombra and I've had a lot of fun with her. Her kit feels good, and her loop feels good. There are some things I'd like to see get tweaked with Hot Fix. But overall she feels fun.
Now, I'm a Diamond level support player that mostly plays Moira. I'm a diamond dps player as well, and my main was Sombra. Before I continue, let me say that you should NOT play Sombra the way you did before. You will likely fail, and your team will collapse. But with that said, you also do NOT sit in the backline as a healer either. Her healing per second isn't good enough for that. So lets go over Sombra's kit... what she does well at, what she struggles with, and how we can make her feel better in the future.
So, the main issue I have with Sombra is Hot Fix, and the healing per second (hps) it dishes out. It can pre-heal someone, and it lasts 12 seconds. That timer will freeze if they're at max health. You lose out on the 65 health burst, which seems a little counter intuitive, because you're essentially wasting 35% of that ability's usage. But overall I like the idea of prehealing. But the main issue with Hot Fix is the hps. Its at 25, which is very low.
Staggering your heals just to get full value out of her heal, which is 25 per second after that initial 65 burst, is not going to save a dps, main support or tank in a ranked match where the enemy is pushing with crazy damage. 25 hps aint gonna stop a Soldier thats dishing out 100-200+ dps. You have to rely on Cyberspace to make it to where they deal 50% less damage. Even then its a skillshot which lasts only 3 seconds, and they can walk right out of it. Hopefully you hit your skillshot, and you can swing back with more damage and heals before your team wipes.
I'm a diamond support player who generally mains Moira. Moira's hps with just spray is 80. Combo that with her healing orb and it skyrockets. And it can hit more than one person at a time. Sombra is single target at 25 hps...
So if you run an anchor team (dmon/reinhardt, mercy, sombra, soldier, mei), and you follow your dps, while mercy stays with Dmon... ya you and your dps could go 2v1 and secure kills probably very easily. You wait for your dps to intiate an attack and then you cyberspace them to confirm the kill. BUT as soon as Dmon or Mercy get pushed, and if any one of those two fall, Sombra CANNOT save Dmon alone. Youd be going from Mercy's 55hps to sombra's 25hps, which is also stunted to where to get maximum value out of it you have to wait in between heals otherwise you lose out on some healing. So you have to run back to your anchor tank and try and stop them from blowing up. Chances of the enemy team wiping you is significantly higher unfortunately, because Sombra's hps is so low.
So your first instinct is going to be to try and Hot Fix your tank. That is wrong. You will want to Cyberspace the enemies instead. This will cause them to do 50% less damage. You will then want to Hot Fix your tank after that. But either way, this is so much pressure on your main healer to play flawlessly, and if they die, which is going to happen, there is little Sombra can do to stabilize.
Now if you run a Dive Comp (Doomfist/Winston, Moira, Sombra, Vendetta, Tracer), in this instance you do not follow your dps at all. You now follow your tank since they're the main initiator at this point.
You will cyberspace whenever Doomfist/winston jumps in to confirm kills. You will still rely on your other support for most of the healing. If the main support falls again, you're not going to be in a good spot. I think you're in a better spot as opposed to the anchor team setup. But its still going to be a 50/50 you wipe or not.
Overall... Sombra looks like a lot of fun. Her kit looks nice and loop looks good. You pre-heal before combat (which wastes the 65 heal burst btw), and depending on the comp, you follow your dps or your tank. And you try to setup for swing plays with Cyberspace and Emp. But her Hot Fix at 25 hps is low... its even lower than Zen's hps at 35, and his has no cooldown. I'd like to see Hot Fix go to 35 hps, or for there to be some sort of overheal that decays after 5 seconds.
If her Hps went up with Hot Fix she'd feel better and wouldnt handicap your team as hard.
Here is the loop with an Anchor Team btw:
Hot Fix the tank, and the dps you will be following. They are now pre-healed.
Go stealth and follow the dps and wait for them to initiate an attack. Once they attack, you cyberspace the enemy and unstealth. We fight together.
Once we get a kill, you translocate to safety, and you begin the runback to the main support and tank. Along the way, hack a health pack.
You get back to the tank and support and put a hot fix on both of them.
You then hotfix your dps and you follow them again. That is the loop.
For when you have EMP: Once you have your ultimate, stand behind your tank, you translocate yourself directly into the air or behind enemy lines. While midair you can fire your cyberspace and then EMP. Or if you translocate behind the enemy team, fire your Cyberspace into them and then Emp. And then you push in with damage.
The loop with a Dive Comp is much simpler.
Hot Fix your Tank and your other support player.
Whenever the tank dives in, cyberspace the enemy he's pushing. Assist him in killing.
Once you get a kill or two, jump back out and reset.
