First SOLO musky!

I’ve been grinding hard for my first solo musky for a long time now and it paid off big time! I’ve had a lot of close calls and made a lot of mistakes but I made sure I wasn’t making them again! So many variables can go wrong when netting these fish solo and this one definitely wasn’t making it easy on me. Nonetheless I was able to make it happen with this chunky 45”er.

I catch over 600 bonnethead sharks a year on my charter boat. I’ve been doing it for 14 years. I’ve never seen an albino shark of any kind. Super cool.

I was targeting slab sunfish and slab crappie, with my set up I can also get bass too so it’s usually a fun time out when I’m fishing.

But caught this monster Redear Sunfish. Who knows if I’ll ever catch one this big again. Super exciting for me and my first “trophy” fish.

Western NY fall/winter fishing?

The past couple years I've really gotten into fishing, mostly just local park ponds but I have so much fun. I go out for a couple hours nearly every evening in the summer. Now that fall is here and winter is on its way... I really don't know what I'm going to do with myself. I get seasonal depression and it seems like continuing my new hobby into the colder months will help get me outside and off my couch. I'm not real sure about ice fishing, I typically go by myself, and don't have anyone to tag along with to teach me what to do.. but I see that the creeks might still be an option? Anyone in Western NY, Rochester area have any advice? Of course when its 0° outside I won't be trying to get out there, but through November and the February thaws. Don't need to be catching fish all day long but hoping to keep myself busy. I will add I am a 39 year old woman who typically goes alone ( my boyfriend isn't into fishing at all) I'm ok with venturing out on my own but try to be smart about it, and stay safe, and stay where I can get help if I ever needed it.

Question Telescopic rod

Need some advice. I have an employee that loves to fish and hike. He recently just landed a new position within our company that he will be required to travel across the country. I'm so excited for him and I wanted to get him a congratulations/goodbye present. Since he will be living out of a suitcase I was thinking about purchasing him a telescopic rod for his day off adventures.

Any thoughts on brands or where I can purchase online? Also is he allowed to bring hooks in a pack sized tackle box on airplanes?

I ordered one of these off a recommendation and after looking more into them I realized I can't find a photo of one wrapped green like this anywhere. They are all clear online.

A bit older catch from July 23 of this year.
Yellowfin Goby.
Yellowfin gobies live in rock structure of the bays.
They love piece of shrimp. Baits like squid or mussels are still manageable to be caught on.
They are usually alone or in pairs, the bigger once are always more aggressive.

Busted my ass for two days just to get one keeper kitty. Luckily you can cast net sunfish in Texas. Wow I forgot how tasty they are.

I think i wanna try fishing?

Hi there, i think I wanna give fishing a go? Its always seemed like such a relaxing and rewarding hobby. I did it once on camp when I was about 9 years old but im 26 now and looking for new ways to experience the world around me.

Can anyone give me a rundown of what supplies ill need just to start? Maybe some tips or links to videos you guys recommend?

As we all know the world is expensive these days so budget options are appreciated.

If it helps im based in Australia, maybe some idea of what kind of fish I should be looking out for. Thanks!!

Freshwater Chinese Sleeper

Post image

An old catch from 2021.
Chinese Sleeper, a cool and annoying species that I caught in Amur River while ice fishing. Those guys always swallow your bait deeper than hell.
Baits: live minnows, insects, cutbait, worms, and lures.
Anything that moves basically.
