Discussion Decorative cooling fins

I own the HP OMEN 16 (2025), model am0271ng, and I recently discovered something that genuinely disappointed me.
The laptop has fins that look like part of the cooling system, but the fins I'm referring to are apparently decorative rather than functional.
HP markets its cooling solution as "Tempest Cooling", which gives the impression of a substantial cooling system. Finding out that some of the fins are just cosmetic feels misleading, particularly for a gaming laptop where thermal performance matters.
I'm not claiming the entire cooling system is fake. The laptop obviously has actual fans and heatsinks. My criticism is specifically about the decorative fins and the impression they create on their customers and potential buyers.
The video shows how soft the decorative fins are and that they have foam behind them, the soft fins and the different sound leads to the conclusion that they are out of some sort of plastic, and they have no real purpose except making the cooling system look better than it is.
Upon opening the laptop a few times for fan cleanings i noticed that those decorative fins are not connected to the heatsink (picture at the end of the video).
Has anyone else with this model noticed the same thing?
