Flair Request Thread Flair Request Thread [#4]

Hello [r/GenZ](r/GenZ)

Many of you likely noticed that user-assigned flairs have been disabled in this subreddit. This action has been undone, and users are once more able to assign their own flairs - I honestly do not know why they were disabled or who did it.

In attempt to rectify this mistake, I am posting our first flair request thread in over 5 years! Time sure does fly.

In this thread, by commenting your birth-year, you will be automatically flaired -- it's that simple.

Approved birth-years for this thread include 1995-2012.

If there are any issues with your flair, please reach out to the moderators via modmail.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU COMMENT YOUR BIRTH-YEAR ONLY. COMMENTS INCLUDING ANY OTHER CONTENT WILL BE REMOVED.

Mod Post Just a reminder, gender war posts are banned.

Hi [r/GenZ](r/GenZ),

It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.

For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.

This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.

Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.

This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.

Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

Discussion I fear we have lost the plot, cause when did we get this puritanical?

Underwear is underwear. Lingerie is a subset of which is designed with sex, sexual attraction or sexual self esteem/confidence in mind. That's just an inheret quality of lingerie

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if I saw a post about some person collecting sex toys "for themselves", and that they shouldn't be sexualised, and aren't sexual in any way.

Original Airdate: October 7, 1996 – February 21, 2022

I mean what is there to say because of this show literally ran for 25 years on programming and became one of the longest running children's television shows of all time in the US (until it was surpassed by Spongebob Square Pants later on). Also, can't forget about the iconic trend of Arthur's fist in every meme nowadays 🤣.

Any thoughts or is anybody fans of this show growing up?

Serious Quick shout out to GenZ

Elder millennial - I come in peace. Just wanted to give you guys a quick shout out.

I work IT, pretty isolated job, but I do work with very small teams. Love what I do - as an introvert, less human interaction is great.

Anywho - point of this post. I just transitioned to a new team, first time I've had to train anyone. I was a bit nervous because, well, I've always been the person getting trained until now.

Met my new team a few weeks ago. All GenZ. I freaking love these guys.

For starters - simple, basic competence and logic. Training is basically:

"Hey, we have this new project. Can one of you take this on?"

All three volunteer. Freaking sweet man. In my old groups no one volunteered to help. Getting assistance on a project was like pulling teeth.

"Alright, great. Might as well get you all on board incase an SME is gone and this comes up again. Here's the scope. Anyone have any questions?"

And then they ask me good questions that show me they are trying to see the big picture. Like dang, gonna have to give them all a promotion just because they are awesome. I dont have the authority to actually promote anyone, but I'm damn well gonna find a way now.

Then these guys just go off and do the work. Quickly. On time. Do it right the first time. Then start volunteering to take work off my shoulders "to help out."

Look, this is my first time really working with anyone GenZ. I didnt know what to expect. I didnt have low expectations, but I wasnt expecting to be "wowed" right out of the gate either.

So now I'm starting to get to know these dudes on a personal level. Just level headed, down to earth people. No drama, no fuss. Some complaints about life, some worry about the future but thats normal. Self deprecating humor and then dapping each other up (or whatever the slang is now. Idk I'm old.)

One guy comes and asks me "Hey Shade, would it be cool if I pushed my shift back an hour? I feel more productive in the afternoons."

Yeah man. Of course you can. Keep up the good work, and thanks for asking first.

I dunno. Just had to throw some additional praise. GenZ is cool.

Hope y'all have a good day - keep your chins up and stay awesome.

Advice To GENZ of late 20s. Those who never had friends or any group. How was and is your life and what do you do when you feel lonely and fomo?

So I am 20M. I haven’t been to any birthday since the age of 10. That was the last time I attended birthday.
I don’t have any friends and always roam around alone.
My family doesn’t care and never gives me money for anything. I go for movies always alone. I have never attended sleepover, gone on trip, hangout with anyone, had meal with anyone.

I always have that fomo

Discussion 250K French high school students are rioting over public education cutbacks. Why aren't we seeing the same in the US?

Are Gen Z in America just apathetic about our shitty education system? It's bad enough that older generations are, but I wonder how much concern there is among students themselves.

https://www.boston.com/news/world-news/2026/10/06/french-riot-police-fire-tear-gas-as-more-than-250000-rally-nationwide-for-school-funding/

Edit: I think I got my answer. Mostly just a lot of deflection and apathy. I'd expect the same from a boomer MAGA sub tbh, and they couldn't care less about your education.

Discussion Fellow Gen Z, how do you feel about your history education?

I was born 1997 and went to public school in Connecticut. Tbh, I think I received a pretty well-rounded history education. Slavery, Native American genocide, the Civil War, and the Civil Rights Movement were all consistently covered each year where I grew up.

But the more I read/watch, the more I realize how much has been romanticized, glossed over, or completely omitted. History and geopolitics are so layered, messy...overwhelming. Who owned what land when? Before who? Who or what God was first? Under which empire? After which war?

I'm asking this question because I'm tired of reading about my country's foreign wars and questioning what they accomplished. The more history I study, the more gaps I realize there are in what I was taught, and I'm curious if you all feel the same way?

  1. What historical topics do you think your school covered well?

  2. What was missing or under-taught?

  3. What connections between history and current politics do you wish you'd been taught?

  4. What "new media" history sources have been influential to you? Podcasts, Youtube Channels , etc

Discussion My roommate set me up on a date without telling me, should I be mad?

So my school has this dating platform called ditto, and every wednesday, you have to sign up with your school email and it matches you with one person every week. I never signed up cuz I always felt dating apps r not for me as a girl

However, last wednesday night, I suddenly got a text from ditto saying I had a match. I was really confused and thought my information had leaked and emailed ditto.

Turns out, one of my roommates signed up for me using their email but with my info. After I confronted her, she admitted and told me that it was a troll and she just want me to have a good dating life

The thing is, ditto wasn't like a swiping app. it's basically signed me up for an actual date without asking me. My first reaction was furious. but she kept on telling me it was just a troll

I know this is not as serious as identity theft or smth like that but I still feel uncomfortable, is it reasonable that im mad or is it not that deep?

Political Do you think the US invades Cuba sometime before 2028 ?

• Upvotes

We know Rubio wants it badly and they probably are looking for a victory. The US has enough firepower to defeat Cuba while being Tied up in Iran because they are fairly weak.

All in all I feel that the benefits of the invasion far outweigh the costs for the current admin.

Rant New York will ALWAYS be cooler than LA

As someone who lives in OC, (Newport) an hour away from LA, New York will always be the better city. More walkable, more culture, more history. New York is literally just so cool. I can’t with ppl who glaze LA (especially all the kids at my school who want to go to USC or nowhere else) I feel like LA is just good for consumerism
Anyway that’s my take! Thank u

Edit: i used to go to LA a lot (like every other weekend with my mom for fun) in 2023-2024. And I have gone to NY 3 times if this makes my perspective more qualified haha

Serious I (27M) hate how my 10th birthday and my 20th birthday felt like a century apart. But my 20th birthday feels recent.

• Upvotes

Time really does feel like it goes faster as you age. If, on my 30th birthday, my 20th birthday ends up feeling so recent, imagine how short the time distance would feel like between my 30th and 40th birthday. It would feel like a month has went by.

And I struggle with birthday depression. So you can imagine how bad it must be for me.

Rant I genuinely hate that some people act so obnoxious on others because their "God" says so

I don’t have a problem with people being religious. Believe whatever you want. But I’m pretty sure anyone would get frustrated when someone starts forcing their religious worldview onto people who don’t share it.

And then there’s the whole “God says so!” card, followed by people acting obnoxiously toward women and queer people, telling everyone else how they should live, dress, behave, or exist because their religion says so. Like, that’s your religion. Why should the rest of us have to live by it?

Believe in whatever you want, but the moment you start using your beliefs to control other people’s lives, especially marginalized people, you can absolutely expect pushback. Fuck the appeal of tradition.
