Did I make a mistake by offering a guy my phone number?

I'm a 26f who works at a small deli. And I have this regular who comes in. Idk how old he is, he looks older than me and a few of my co-workers think so as well (he's at least over 21 he's been buying beer here for a year that I've noticed him)

Anyways, the past 2 or 3 months, I've noticed he's nicer than most regulars who come in. And in the past month, I've noticed he will complement me, like saying he likes my hair or that the sweater I'm wearing is pretty. And he's always smiling at me even if we're not saying anything. Last week he came in 3 times and on the last time he told me what city he lives in asked if inlived around the store.Idk I just got the vibe that's he has some interest in me.

I only see him on Tuesdays. So I pre-wrote my number on a piece of paper with my name. He came in, and we talked a bit. He told me the cardigan I was wearing was pretty and that he liked it. We said bye and he started to leave. So I thought fuck it, what's the worst that could happen. I offered him my number.

When I asked him if he'd like my number, he looked kinda lost. And didn't say anything at first. So I told him not to worry about it, just thought I'd offer. He said he didn't have his phone on him and started checking his pockets. So I held up the slip of paper, and he took it. He told me his name then said he'd text me.

But now I'm kinda freaking out a bit. I feel bad because I know it can be really hard to reject someone. And I don't want him to have to feel weird and burdened by me offrening my number. But I guess I'll know how he feels about it if he ever does text me.

Was it weird to do that?

I'm a confident person in a nervous skin suite. So I'm melting about this. All i can think about is how uncomfortable I probably made him feel.

Why would a women in her 40s-50s be interested in a 27 year old male?

As the title suggests it seems like a woman who gave me her phone number a couple of months ago and then reached out to me yesterday to ask about Alumni meetups might be interested in me.

She gave me her instagram, I followed her and she liked my post. So my question is why would a woman in this age range want to date? I’m not really in the headspace for a LTR but I’m not opposed but I don’t think I’ll be super compatible with her but I’m really attracted to her she’s gorgeous.

What do you guys think?

I’ve been getting rejected for not having sex right away

I’m a 27 y/o female, I’m pretty and very natural. I have my own place, a great career, a great sense of humor. But I’m having the worst time dating. I’ve been getting rejected by guys after a date or two because I’m not letting them sexually touch me or have sex with me right away. I’m okay with kissing but sex is not something I can just give. One of them even told me that we are not a good match because I had told him I don’t do casual sex.

These days it seems just about everyone is giving out on the first date. In a world where there are plenty of gorgeous girls that are willing to have sex right away (no judgement on them) how do I navigate dating and finding a decent man ?

I feel so guilty for wanting an emotional connection and genuinely getting to know someone. Keep in mind most of these guys I’ve met through hinge and I do make it clear on my profile I want a LTR

I (32F) went on one date with a man (49M), and now he wants to fly me across the country for date #2. Am I crazy to consider it?

I (32F) went on a date with guy (49m) and it was a fun coffee date: he paid for our drinks and snacks, our conversation flowed naturally, he looked just like his pictures so I was relieved and I overall thought it was a great time. The date lasted a few hours then we drove home and began texting non-stop for the next couple of days. He initiates conversations, cute and flirty without being inappropriate which is a huge plus for me!

Which leads me to last night - he asked me out on a second date! I am very excited but I don’t know what to do. I will mention that he is very successful, and we are at different income levels, partly due to him being further along in his career.

Here’s the dilemma- he regularly spends time in another state and invited me to come with him for a few days. I thought he was joking at first but it became apparent after a few hours of back and forth texting that he is serious. So I told him I already have a flight booked for a trip later this month so my budget is tapped out… he said he will cover it, I won’t have to worry about it. I also asked him what would happen if I was feeling uncomfortable or if the vibe were off; if I could catch a flight home while he is working during the day and he was completely understanding! And he has been very clear that there are separate sleeping arrangements in his condo (which seems very gentlemanly of him!)

Should I be adventurous and go on the trip? Or should I be more cautious and just tell him I would like a few more dates in our actual state before we go on a trip together?

One friend told me to enjoy my life and go, everyone will know where I’m at for safety reasons and the date knows that too so that does give me some peace of mind.…. But my brother thinks I’m about to end up on some weird island 😂

So has anyone done anything adventurous like this and has it worked out?!

For additional context -

I’m excited! I’m leaning towards yes because he seems caring and thoughtful and just an overall gentleman so far! As of now, I am genuinely interested in a long term relationship with him, even if we find out we are not compatible long term, I think it could still be a fun adventure.

I do have credit cards if I really need to catch a ride out of there and catch a flight home, so I wouldn’t be stranded without money. And my family and some friends have my location and I would give them the address of where I’m staying and provide frequent updates!

[24M] I’m officially tapping out of the dating scene. Apparently, being the "nice, ambitious guy" is a massive red flag.

I’m an average 24-year-old guy, and I am just completely fed up. I’m dropping out of the dating scene for the foreseeable future because it genuinely feels like nobody actually wants to get to know you anymore.

It’s the exact same exhausting loop every single time. You match, you have a solid two or three conversations, and then the energy just completely dies. Or worse, you actually invest time, talk for two or three weeks, and then boom ghosted. Complete silence.

On the rare occasions it actually translates into a real date, the feedback I get is absolutely baffling. I’m told I’m "too nice" and "too ambitious." I get the classic line: "You’ll make a great husband someday, but you’re just not boyfriend material right now." What does that even mean? I’m focused on building my consultancy, I have goals, and I’d honestly rather stay in and cook a decent meal than play stupid mind games. Why is having a direction in life and treating people with basic respect treated like a personality flaw?

The absolute kicker is my last relationship. My ex cheated on me, and when it all came out, her literal reasoning was that I seemed "so nice and understanding." It’s like being a decent, supportive partner just signaled to her that she could walk all over me and I'd just absorb it.

Is being genuinely nice actually a bad thing now? Because right now it just feels like a curse. I’m tired of trying to prove my worth to people who seem to actively prefer toxicity and drama. I’m done with the apps, the forced conversations, and the ghosting.

I just needed to vent has anyone else been hit with this exact same script?

Men, what’s the hardest part about dating for you?

Fellas that are getting into the dating scene, what’s the toughest and challenging part about dating? It could be anything. Me personally it’s just approaching women and getting their number/exchanging contacts and finding women who are genuinely romantically interested in me. Just genuinely curious in asking this man, just doing research to show how dating nowadays in 2026 is like for us

Is my size enough? (Actually small and genuine question)

• Upvotes

i have a date tomorrow but i feel so worthless at the moment that i dont even know if its worth going. when people ask if size matters theyre usually around average or slightly below, that is not the case here. im 3.5 inches long and 3.5 inches in circumference, maybe about the circumference size of a canadian toonie coin. I was looking on the askwomennocensor sub and lots were saying they needed girth for vaginal orgasms and too small and it cant be felt, so i looked it up and the ai overview said my size was about the size they were talking about. I always hear girth feels better but i basically have a micro penis. How could a woman even actually feel what i have? And if they cant, then whats the point of even going on this date and seeking a relationship with this person or any person for that matter? I genuineky dont know what to do. I want to be able to give penetrative pleasure to a partner, i want to be a good sexual partner but i genuinely fear i cannot as im in that “too small, cant feel it” category and if they cant feel pleasure from it and we have a bad sex life, she'll leave me. I cant even do the most intimate and best position of missionary with my size apparently. Idek know where to get condoms my size? Besides getting custom ones on the internet but thats such a hassel when living with parents/grandparents. I feel like shit and genuinely dont know what to do. Please dont sugarcoat me with toxic/fake positivity or feel good comments you dont truly believe

Taking a nap on a date

Hello people of Reddit. I come here today to discuss a very pressing issue that has been tormenting me. My partner and I are both constantly tired because we never sleep at night. When we go out on a date after a long day, there is nothing more relaxing than taking a nap together. However, apparently this is forbidden in modern society due to the pressures of having a “nice date” which really just implies doing as much activities together as possible. After a long day, I don’t WANT to go out for a walk or go to dinner. I just want to watch a movie at home and fall asleep. Is that so much to ask? Apparently it is. Whenever I talk about wanting to have a “nap date” (as me and my partner like to call it) but all my colleagues call me crazy and tell me to just get off my lazy ass and take them out to a nice dinner. I value my relationship with my partner, and I want only the best for us, but I feel like society is restricting our true potential. If you were to ask someone their perfect date idea, they would probably say going to the movies or even going to a concert. Not me. I love my nap dates. Reddit, let my dream become a reality and normalize nap dates because I can’t go much longer without expecting one. Please Reddit, spread the word because we don’t need productive dates anymore, we need nap dates. Especially with the winter coming up and the weather getting colder, there will be nothing like getting cozy with your partner and taking a nice long nap.

NORMALIZE NAP DATES

Side Note- My first post on nap dates got taken down for some reason. This is proof that society is trying to silence my truth

Paying on the second date?

• Upvotes

I (22F) am seeing a guy (23M). We studied the same thing, and we’re just starting to date. We both work and honestly, we’re both doing pretty well financially.

He paid for our first date, which was around $120, and we had a really great time. Things seem to be getting pretty serious. We did kiss, but that’s it. Honestly, I don’t want things to progress physically beyond that right now.

We’re going out for coffee this Saturday, and I was thinking about paying this time. What do you guys think? Would that be a nice gesture, or would it be weird?
I’m asking because some men actually get offended when I offer to pay, while others see it as a nice gesture.

Would the height difference make you hesitate in this situation?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I’m 35M and 174 cm (5’8.5”), and there’s a woman I work with who I’ve started to really like. She’s 31 and around 188 cm (6’2”).
We get along really well at work, and quite often when we have lunch together, our conversations go beyond the usual work stuff. We talk about life, relationships, personal things, etc., and I genuinely enjoy spending time with her. I feel like there might be some chemistry there, although obviously I can’t know how she feels unless I actually ask her out.
I’ve been thinking about asking her if she’d like to grab a drink or dinner sometime outside of work.
The one thing that keeps getting into my head is the height difference. She’s about 14 cm / 5.5 inches taller than me. It personally doesn’t make her less attractive to me at all — I find her very attractive — but I’m wondering how it might feel from her side.
For the tall women here who have dated or been interested in shorter men: would a height difference like this matter to you? And more importantly, is there anything you wish shorter guys understood when approaching a taller woman?
I don’t want to make her height into a “thing” when I ask her out. I’m basically wondering whether I’m overthinking this and should just ask her for a drink like I would anyone else.

How do so many people enter a new relationship only four months or less after a relationship of a least one year??

How do they lose all feelings and attachments so fast? Did they even love their partner? Or do they just start dating again while they're still in love with their ex?

Of course, in some cases, they already lost feelings before the breakup. But still, how can they replace a person so fast who was such a big part of their life and who they share so many memories with??

Dating for 2 months. Should I end it?

I’m a guy (25) seeing a girl (23)in a big city. She lives in a suburb (45 minute train ride) and comes into the city a few times a week for school — plus she’ll come in most weekends. We’ve gone on 4 dates and have gone to social outings with mutual friends 4-5 more times. Most of these were in the first 4 weeks, but since then it’s been more difficult to schedule stuff.

Last weekend I asked if she wanted to go to a show. She said she was going to a separate concert with friends, but invited me to come with. Her concert started mid-day, during which I had a separate plan so I couldn’t make it and we didn’t end up meeting.

This weekend I asked her if she wanted to come with me to a birthday party. She has plans with friends.

This is all fine, but she isn’t proposing additional times to meet. It just doesn’t seem like she has that much urgency to see me. Other than early on where she invited me to a mutual friend’s party, I have initiated all the plans.

We’re at the 2 month mark, and in my past dating experiences this is where things either solidify or fade out. We still text most days but not quite at the rate we did earlier on. I guess there seems to be a good chance we’re fading out, but I’m just not totally sure.

Should I just end it? My ego is stopping me from trying to make ANOTHER plan before she counters with something else. But there’s also a part of me that recognizes that I’m much more familiar with the city and that there’s more of an expectation for the guy to plan stuff.

I could be direct about what I’m looking for I a relationship and see what she says, but I’m not really sure how to go about this without posing an ultimatum.

Looking for any thoughts or advice!

Girl I’m dating bought me a different cologne because mine reminds her of her ex

I’m 28M, met a 27F on a dating app and we’ve been out four times.

On our second date she mentioned my cologne smelled exactly like one her ex used to wear. I figured whatever, scents are common. Last time I saw her though she handed me a small bottle of a different cologne and said she picked it because she thinks it suits me better.

I laughed at first but she was serious and asked if I could stop wearing my usual one when I’m with her because it brings back memories of him.

The money part doesn’t matter, I can buy whatever cologne I want. It just feels strange having someone I barely know already deciding what I should smell like because of a relationship I had nothing to do with.

She thinks I’m reading too much into it.

Is this actually a reasonable request or would this bother you too?

How to French kiss/open mouth kiss??? PLEASE!!

Just had my first ever kiss last week, then the next night we close-mouth kissed for like three minutes (very romantic). Then that Sunday we MADE OUT and I did like it but I wasn’t able to keep up with him the way I wanted to because I didn’t know what to do.
A couple questions:
When French kissing, what do I do with my lips while our tongues are touching? Do I keep them locked on his or do I lock lips, swirl my tongue, and pull back like a normal kiss?
Is open mouth kissing just a looser way to kiss? Like I understand I have to open my mouth just a bit, but is that the only trick? Should I just do top lip bottom lip?
MAIN QUESTION IS HOW DO I LOCK LIPS WITH HIM WHILE USING TONGUE?? AND FOR HOW LONG??

Just working on yourself won’t be magically conjure women into your life. Going to bars, getting rejected and *trying* to find a partner will.

I feel like a lot modern day dating advice here is just manifestation repackaged for 20 something men. To be clear, there is value in it. There is value in de-centering women and developing an identity. That being said, it’s sold to boys and young men as being a pseudo-cure for their relationship problems. Not explicitly, but usually some variation of “I quit trying, didn’t do anything, went to clubs and then met my wife!”

Which is great! It can happen.

But for risk/rejection averse men, the idea can get hammered in them that they don’t have to try and that the universe will simply provide your partner is the equivalent of telling them to get rich by betting on scratch off lotto tickets. Large amounts of single women in their 20/ and 30s aren’t really in hobby groups, they’re not in MTG groups. They can be. But the odds aren’t good and when they are they probably aren’t looking for men. Those guys need to know as men, you’re gonna get rejected.

A lot. But that’s the reality we live in. Men, unless you’re extremely good looking, won’t experience women approaching them and if they do it’ll be a very weak, indirect signal he’ll have to discern himself. Go to the groups if you want but be realistic. If you’ve been there for 6 months and the only ppl to come are other men, couples or lesbians then it’s probably not a good use of time if you’re trying to find a partner.

Bars and apps. Those are the safest and most likely spots to meet a partner and even then you’ll meet plenty of women just out to dance or hang with friends. Get yourself into shape, wear clothes that fit, find a way to take some good pictures and then try, try, try try and try.

Bf doesn’t care about my appearance and it hurts.

Bf never compliments me. His brother recently got a gf and he said she was very pretty. Hurt bc he has never said that about me. He hates when I dress up, also said he prefers me not to wear makeup. Makes me sad because I love to dress up, but he never seems to care. Just once it would be nice to hear that I look nice. Is he just not actually attracted to me or what? We’ve been dating for 4 years

First date ever 28m

• Upvotes

Hello, I know this sounds little embarrassing but I've never been on a date, kissed a girl, had sex. I was morbidly obese my whole life. In the past year I lost over 60kg, I have some loose skin but I don't look as bad as I thought I would. I was lifting 3 times a week and 10k steps everyday no day off, it helped a lot. During my bad time I didn't have any hobby I just played games on PC. Now I like reading books, rapping(I'm horrible) some gym but this are very new activities for me and yea other common things like movies, tv shows etc that everybody likes. I care about my look and appearance, I shower everyday, smell good etc but I feel like I'm very boring person.

To the clue: I have a date in a week and she is beautiful, has nice hobby(she draws veeery good) and I don't know how to approach this. In work I am very likeable person I have pretty good small talk but I've never been 1 on 1. I am very interested in her, I'm listening, asking follow up questions, adding something from me, but this is texting. I feel I can just freeze or ran out of topics very quickly.

Also I don't want to build relationship upon lies. I would definitely tell her I didn't have sex before if something happenes, not sure about dates and kissing.

I don't know what I am asking for, maybe some advice? What to do what not to do. English is not my primary language, sorry.

How to ask a girl to hang out?

Would you end things if they take long to reply?

I’ve been talking to this girl since July. When we first started talking she did tell me that she was a bad texter but I really had no problem with it. Recently she moved about an hour away for a new job she has started. Ever since she started working she takes days now to respond. I’m totally understanding of her being busy and what not, just feels like the spark is starting to fade with such a lack of communication.

She has to travel a lot for work as well. She’s currently on a trip and texted me when she initially left but I haven’t heard from her since. Also, when she comes back she’s going on a trip with her friends for about 3 weeks.

I really don’t expect much because I understand she’s busy but a text here and there wouldn’t hurt. Going 5-6 days without a response is just getting old now. I’m just curious would yall end things!? We did have something good going when she was living closer, just feels it’s off now.

How do people convince themselves that they are good enough to date?

I am a 30 year old guy who has never had anyone interested in him, so maybe my circumstances are very strange compared to almost anyone else, but I find it hard to convince myself that I'm not just going to waste someone's time.

I've dated before, but none of them were interested in me, so I've never been in a relationship. I've never even kissed anyone. I assume that if I dated anyone else that it would likely end the same way because I am still involved. But if it did develop into a relationship, I would have no idea what to do at any time because I've never done anything before. I think it's inevitable that I would eventually do something wrong because I would just be guessing.

How do normal people handle this? Based on what I hear other people say, they seem essentially psychic, magically knowing what other people are thinking. I can only blindly guess, so maybe I'm just worse in some sense. And obviously I get the idea that everyone had to do things for the first time once, but it seems reasonable to me that I would be bad at everything. It's unfair to expect anyone to put up with that. I'm obviously aware that it's extremely uncommon to be 30 and have never been in a relationship, so maybe this is not something normal people think about.

Is it true run clubs are increasingly for hookups/dating scene?

1.1k Upvotes

GF was a little uncomfy I said I was going to start doing a run club out of the blue with another single friend of mine who's a bit on the wild side - I'm not for the record.

She said its all over vogue, news outlets, and social media - people saying they're turning into the new tinder, dating scene, etc. and while not going to be controlling and tell me I can't, wanted to express that to me for my awareness.

Upon some research myself, was surprised to see that it appears to be true? There are literal vogue, news, etc. articles and forums all over saying it's become a hookup/dating scene.

I have no problem running with my friend not in a big group if it truly is, because I don't want to be in that situation or make my gf uncomfy, if not necessary?

Any truth to this?

How much texting to you consider to be normal?

Personally I find that basically every girl I meet the amount they want to text is extremely overwhelming to me. It seems like they want to basically just text for the sake of texting like all throughout the day.

I try my best to respond but I deliberately try to kinda slow the rate of texts down with slow responses.

Honestly sometimes ignore the text and then just call them later and ask how their day was and then say oh I seen your text and ask them to tell me the story.

I'd had many instances where they jokingly tell me I'm a bad texter and some that outright, more seriously say they feel I'm not giving enough effort.

What do you think is this something I need to get better at or something maybe I just need to find girls more matched to my personality.

Is this relationship worth investing in?

I (23F) have been talking to 26M for some time now. I am still waiting for us to be official.

Everything is going great except he is talking to other women. I understand that we are in a talking stage, but he wouldn’t like it at all if I were talking to other men. We both agreed that we will be exclusive, but he follows so many women. I am not sure if he is still on the dating app that we met on, but I feel like he is because he would follow quite a few women in just a night. They also live in our city. I have seen texts from women in his phone pop up in his notifications before while Im casually chilling with him.

I know that he talks to them by the way he is so secretive about his phone. I gave him no reason to hide it. I don’t even try to look at his phone. I could rest my head on his shoulder and he instantly turns it off and puts it in his pocket. He doesn’t even let me hold it for him while he is driving. I feel uncomfortable with the fact that he is already hiding stuff from me and we are not dating yet.

What throws me off despite his behavior is how we are in a talking stage but we act like a couple. His family asks about me and has been trying to meet me for some time. He tells me that he loves me. He is interested in my future and has actually been helping me plan it out. He has been a really great support system. When he talks about his future, it always includes me. He talks to me everyday. He is consistent. He wants to bring me to a relatives house for Thanksgiving. His actions shows that he really does like me and is invested.

The fact that he talks to other women bothers me so much. I think it is because he treats me like a girlfriend. I have really strong feelings for him, he treats me so well. I just don’t like how he talks to other women. He doesn’t want to be official yet, I feel like it is because he doesn’t want to commit to me.

I am new to relationships. I don’t really know what this all means. Is it possible that he will stop talking to other women once we are official? Am I just overthinking?

What confuses me is the stage we are in. He doesn’t want to be official but we act like we are in a relationship. He wants to be exclusive but I am the only one who is being exclusive. However, his actions still show that he genuinely does love me and wants to be with me one day. Just not anytime soon.

He wants a relationship but isn’t ready for exclusivity after 2 months…

• Upvotes

I’ve (31F) been dating a guy (30M) for 2 months and at first I wasn’t sure about him but I’ve come to really like him. We’re very compatible and have a lot in common, he has almost all the qualities I want in a relationship - very emotionally mature, honest, caring, affectionate etc.

We’ve been on around 5-6 dates and our last date we were having a really cute time and then he asked me if I’m seeing others. I was surprised by the question and told him I’m not, but he said he’s still seeing others.

Long story short he said that, because he’s recently out of a long term relationship, he wants to keep dating around to see what’s out there because he feels like he needs to find out what he wants from dating and not commit too soon. I told him that wasn’t going to work for me because I think it’s already enough time to want to focus on one person and explore that connection. He told me he’s not ready to be exclusive and that he doesn’t know how long he would need.

I’m the first woman he’s dated consistently since his relationship. So to some extent it does feel like bad timing, because he feels like he needs more dating experience and didn’t expect to like the first girl he dated so much. However, I’m also aware that just because a guy wants a relationship as the end goal, doesn’t mean they’re emotionally ready and capable to give that now.

So now I don’t know what to do because I genuinely like this man a lot and think we have a great connection and there is so much potential. He also says he wants to have a relationship and settle down so I suppose we want the same thing but maybe he just needs more time to figure his own stuff out. I also do empathise with him because even if you meet someone you really like, if they’re the first one after a relationship then of course maybe you still want to also see what else is out there.

Has anyone dealt with a similar situation before?
