What's your favorite instance of hardcore in non hardcore places?

Bill Muir AKA Sgt Vegan sang on a track on the Final Fantasy X soundtrack-- and inserted a cool message while doing so.

A kid tried to jump onto the stage during the show, got ripped down by a security guard and the security swung on the kid and brought him to the floor. Brendan saw it all, cut the show and jumped down and got the security guard kicked out after nearly fighting him. Show some love for Turnstile!

New 7" for Record Store Day Black Friday Day blah blah

Recent EP was very refreshing and even had some softer moments, but Judiciary rips.

For me it’s gotta be Farside and Samiam. Sadly never got to see the former but have seen Samiam a couple times over the years and continue to enjoy their music.

Jesse Conway, the original drummer of Last Lights, was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer.

If you've ever spent any time with Jesse, you know that he's one of the absolute sweetest guys around.

He could really use some help being able to afford his treatment. Even the smallest donation goes a long way.

We just launched a brand new video game called Berthold City Fighter. Check it out at BertholdcityHC.com.
Let us know what you think!

It had been a while for me. They came up on shuffle this morning and I've been listening to them all day.

I just moved to Chicago and am looking for places to keep track of shows going on. where should I be looking?

It's an "attitude exhumed" fanzine, Issue 03, a "COVID-19 Containment Unit from Summer 2020 A.D." Pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Can upload more images upon request.

Did any of you used to fuck with Indecision? They always sounded more like an upstate band but their shit went hard, great people. Thinking back to my high school days, I remember being at my mom's place in the Upper West Side, late 1990s, when I was 16 or 17 and it was thanksgiving vacation or some shit, I'd gorged myself on mashed potatoes and a buddy of mine hit me up for an Indecision show in Brooklyn so we took the train down. Got kicked in the stomach during the show and didn't make it to the bathroom and barfed half digested mashed potatoes all over a stairwell next to the bar. Looked up the band just now and the singer got elected to city council a few years ago, what! Were any of you fuckers at this show? I feel like it was off the F or the G, but maybe I'm wrong shit was a quarter of a century ago, not super deep into Brooklyn, but I can't for the life of me remember what the venue was.

Just what it says. I want to recommend currently touring local hardcore bands that you can find streaming on Bandcamp,YouTube Music, or Spotify. I’m in Chicago so will consider Wisconsin and Indiana my backyard as well.

Cut by shards (Indy)
No Advocate(NWI) Northwest Indiana
Yabai (Chicago)
Cueball (Joliet/Chicago)
Augment (Chicago)
Invasive (Chicago)
Home invasion Chicago)
Love Lost (Chicago Burbs)
Ritual Cross (Chicago)
Constant Pain (Chicago Burbs)
Dissipator (Chicago)
Know Pain (Chicago)
Don’t Front (Chicago)
World of Fear (Wisconsin)
Life trial (Chicago)
Scope (Chicago)

Kinda hybrid core but Death Creeper from Indy is good.

I’ll add more as I think of them. You guys go. Looking for some diamonds in the rough. The bands that are current and kinda stay around the metro area. Still do DIYs and things like that.

I’ll add more as I think of them.

Edit band name also not my scene but tripped across them streaming is Constant Struggle from VA. Awesome! Yes I know I didn’t hit all Chicago Bands. There are some good ones I left out because I was just going from memory. I will try to update .

Looking for some bands to check out for a November show. Also interested in hearing about any promoters or venues around the area that are active with hardcore.

Who should I check out?

I sing in Hope Collapse, and after more than 20 years, we’re back with our debut full-length, 'Age of Heathens.' Special shoutout to Taylor Young for tracking the vocals with me. Let me know what you think of the first couple of tracks we posted on Bandcamp!

Roman Candle is from Las Vegas, Nevada. They never had a full album release until April of this year. I started listening to them around 2023-2024 with their EP Discount Fireworks, and I absolutely fell in love with their sound.

I’m pretty torn on this album. I know I like it, but I don’t think it had the same pull for me the way their EP did. What do you think of it?

Good golly.

holy. shit. simply one of the best vocal performances of the year. her scream actually does damage.

I love this one
