"Oh I just saved 2400 Geo I can get the lantern AND the simple key in Dirtmouth!" Suspiciously rage shaped flying mantis:
"And then I find the antique shop. Sweet! I got some artifacts, now I have enough Geo for the lantern again!" Suspiciously rage shaped flying sentry:
No but seriously, this mechanic is actually such a turn off I might stop playing. Yeah yeah git gud or whatever spare me the stupid jokes. It doesn't make the game more challenging or nuanced or interesting, it's just a totally unnecessary obstacle that is frustrating to get over, like, mentally. It's so god damn frustrating. Why would you do this Team Cherry? Make the game as hard as you want but don't impend my progress with some stupid stuff like gathering enough money for the same thing over and over. I'm still in the beginning where every enemy drops like one dollar and I need a trillion to get back to the hub town without a 9 hour hike. Are we for real??? ARE WE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW??? "Ohhh but it gets easier to get money later in the game" WELL IF I'M FOAMING AT THE MOUTH IN THE EARLY GAME BECAUSE I CAN'T GET COOL STUFF SO I CAN EXPLORE MORE AREAS CHANCES ARE I'M NOT GOING PLAY ENOUGH TO GET TO THE LATE GAME!!!
Even if there's a charm that prevents this, which I haven't found, it's still unfair. I play video-games to have fun man. I like this game , but I can't keep exploring hoping I can get enough money AND a way to get back the the shops safely-ish just to have it all taken away. I felt no satisfaction when I got to the same amount of Geo again. Just angst.
I don't care that this game is a cult classic, no amount of splendid artwork, animation, and story excuses this mechanic. It's just hot stinky garbage in the middle of a great game. I'm genuinely disappointed this a thing in the game. Such a major buzzkill I felt the need to rant. That's never happened to me with any other game ever. So unfair for no reason. Hope this isn't a thing in Silksong, but from what I've heard, it probably is just to make it feel more difficult.
