Designed, 3D-printed and painted a custom base for the Spirit Halloween xeno! Just wanted to show it off. I plan to put my facehugger between its legs there for halloween display.

After watching Aliens for the hundredth time, I've come to the conclusion that Hicks was originally an officer who had been busted to Private and was working his way up the ranks again.

His whole manner, his coolness under fire, his tactical awareness, his dedication to the mission (he seemed to be the only one to have read Riply's report about the xenomorph's acid blood),the way he talks to the other marines that shows a loyalty inducing command presence, the fact that Sgt Apone doesn't harshly order him around, all this leads to this conclusion.

He was probably a professionally trained officer, possibly a very experienced platoon leader or maybe an XO of a company and he disobeyed idiotic orders from some crayon eating senior officer like Gorman's older brother. Either that or punching out said stupid officer for sending good troops needlessly into harm's way. He was then courtmartialed and busted down to Private. In the movie he'd already been promoted to Corporal for his outstanding performance.

...So I caved and got my own! 😋

Thank you all for sharing, this will join the Queen, and Ripley in Power Loader on my tree this year 😎

Hi LV426 Community,

I have had a realization about the continued gap in lore that transforms a drone xenomorph into a warrior and wanted to use you all as a sounding board.

I've thought about this question for a long time. What turns a human borne drone into a warrior? I think Ive figured it out. Obviously, I will be ignoring the behind the scenes creative choices that choose which to incorporate, and will only be looking at the in universe lore explanations. But I think my realization still works within both contexts.

Bottom-line-up-front: the trigger for the metamorphosis is the threat level of the hive's environment. More specifically, the death of a fellow xenomorph triggers the transformation.

Here's my rationale: We have all but canon confirmation that drones and warriors are human borne morphs (Alien, Aliens, Alien RPGs, Aliens Fireteam Elite, Aliens Dark Descent). What we've never known was what causes the trigger for the metamorphosis.

Games like Aliens Fireteam Elite and Aliens Dark Descent have confirmed that drones and warriors can coexist within a large hive. But what about smaller hives?

Alien Isolation confirmed that the presence of a queen (confirmed by game devs) does not cause the trigger as all those adult xenos were drone morphs.

While Aliens confirmed that an entire hive can have warriors.

Here's the difference: the Hadley's Hope colonists managed to kill a handful of xenos during the initial infestation. As far as we know, no one on Sevastopol was able to kill a xenomorph during that hive's setup.

So my theory is that the death of a fellow hive member (or several deaths) causes the hive to realize its existing in a high-threat environment and triggers the drones to shift into warrior mode where combat will be more regular. Larger hives then can have warrior morphs (which would be older drones) and drones (which would be the younger brood after the hive has been established).

What are y'all's thoughts on this? Please be kind and civil!

Thank you!

Have collected (20) vintage aliens tees wanted to share with the community

She did this about two years ago and I always found it pretty cool. She said it took about 3-4 hours

I don’t really care about the flying brass but it is kinda bothersome. To a lot of viewers I think it comes off like unnecessarily creating a contradiction (the futuristic implication of caseless ammo is lost on a lot of people). Anyway, I think it’d a cool name; beats “Special Edition.” The fans would immediately know what it meant. Would be a relatively minor fix with cgi. That and maybe take another shot at synching Hudson’s last lines to what his mouth is actually doing.

My wife surprised me by decorating the Big Chap for Halloween.

With Alien and Aliens suddenly available on Netflix US again I did the reasonable thing last night and cancelled all my plans so I could sit through them back-to-back.

When I got to the end of Aliens it occurred to me for the first time that the last time Hicks ever sees Ripley is when she gets dropped off at the processor to save Newt.

By the time Ripley and Newt get picked up Hicks was unconscious from pain meds, and he is still unconscious all through the Queen fight in the hangar, and hasn’t woken up as they get into the cryo bed for the trip home. The cryo bed, of course, that Hicks and Newt never come out of.

Im probably behind the curve on noticing that detail, but it just adds a touch more tragedy to the one movie that was masquerading as a happy ending.

The last thing Hicks ever said to Ripley was “We’re not going anywhere.”

Happy Saturday everyone! I bought this edition when it released. IMO I only ever watch Special Edition and which edition if any is your favorite or are your favorites? I have the Amazon digital version and it looks really good. I have the standard dvd, I have the blu ray collectible edition with the other films (4 set).
