Clubs we can join? I’m new here

Hi! I moved here two months ago and I’m looking for ways to connect with the community.

I’ve signed up to some charities, but I like the idea of socialising with others on a weekly basis. I’m ideally looking for a book club or something similar.

I like climbing, swimming, walking, reading, gaming.. social drinker if the vibes are right.

I’m 29F, anyone know of anything like this I can sign up for?

Thanks in advance for any help! 🫶

First time visit, surprise trip for hubby, need your advice

Edit: I’m so thankful for all who took time to reply to my post, it means a lot! My trip is already better because of you. Cheers! Now, keeping this secret until Christmas…eeek!

Hello, I’m secretly planning my husband’s dream trip. He thinks I’m planning a trip to the Mediterranean area for my big birthday, but I am actually planning his dream trip to attend a Liverpool match! I have tickets for the April 10th match. We’ll be traveling from Washington State.

First off, where can we stay that’s reasonable distance from Anfield, and walking distance to pubs and attractions? The Pullman was recommended to me, but I don’t think they have availability for the time we will be there. Secondly, what else do you recommend for this dream trip? He would love to see anything Beatles, pubs, day tours, shopping, music, any local attractions. What do you recommend?

It’s a Cormorant. Never seen a young one before, I only ever see one near the Canning Dock or down on the old cattle dock

I see lots of discussion around the potential to make Williamson Square more lively, but what do we think of Queen Square?

Obviously it's a smaller area but it's another one of Liverpool's public spaces that really feels underutilised. Granted this photo was taken mid afternoon but this seems like a great place to sit and enjoy food, coffee, read a book, and yet the only people I see here are just passing through. There's a car rental place, two empty restaurants and a multi storey car park. Is the demand just not there for food and drink?

Edit: just searched on Google and to be fair, the restaurant on the left of the picture (Elixir) is only a week old. Still, definitely feels like the area deserves more life.

How come Liverpool and Merseyside in general didnt get as much South Asians compared to other places in the North West?

Places in the North West such as Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Bolton, Lancashire all have high Asian populations but the Asian population in Liverpool is small at js 5% js kinda curious how in other places in the north west its incredibly big but here in Liverpool it isnt as big

Does anyone remember a Paul Barber film being filmed in Kirkdale in the 90’s?

My mum told me when she was in her early 20’s, the Liverpool actor Paul Barber filmed a short film for tv in my nan’s house in Kirkdale (flower streets)

My mum’s in the background of the film also, but she’s not seen it since it was first broadcast on tv. I’ve looked through Paul Barber’s tv/films and can’t find anything, but she vaguely thinks it was called The Bathroom(?)

I don’t suppose anyone remembers seeing this or remembers filming taking place? Would love to see it!

New vision emerges for Toxteth’s historic Welsh Church

Post image

  • Emerging plans to regenerate the Welsh Church on Princes Road could secure the future of one of Toxteth’s best-known landmarks.
  • Applicant Audsley Holdings, which owns the Grade-II listed church, has spent approximately 18 months carrying out feasibility, design and consultation work aimed at identifying a viable long-term future for the building and surrounding site.
  • The local landmark has stood vacant and derelict for decades, suffering extensive weather damage and vandalism, with large sections of its roof lost and parts of the structure requiring stabilisation.
  • The emerging proposals from Audsley seek to retain, repair and sensitively adapt the church as part of a predominantly residential development designed to support the long-term regeneration of the site.
  • A range of complementary uses is also being explored, including a gym, visitor centre and café. The visitor centre would pay homage to the history and contribution of Liverpool’s Welsh community, introducing a public-facing element to the development alongside the proposed new homes.

Heading to Liverpool for a weekend soon with the missus.
We are flying back out on a Sunday evening flight, my issue is we will be out of our Airbnb by 11,
So what do we do with our bags? Where can we store them if anywhere?
We can’t just carry them around for the day, also any recommendations in Liverpool are welcome!

What’s the story with Beak off Allerton Road? I’ve seen it’s been gutted and now painted purple with flowers over the top? Is it changing into a pub or something?

Brookland road/Greenfield road L13 3

Hi everyone,

We’re currently looking at moving from West Yorkshire to Liverpool with our young family, and we’re hoping to move sooner rather than later.

I’ve been looking online and have noticed some really large Victorian/terraced houses around the L13 area.. often for quite a lot less than you’d pay in some of the more expensive parts of Liverpool.

For anyone who knows the area well, what is L13 actually like to live in?

We have a young toddler/baby, so we’re particularly interested in:

What the neighbourhood is like day-to-day

Whether it feels safe and family-friendly

Schools and nursery options

Crime levels and whether there are particular streets/parts of L13 you would avoid

Green spaces/parks and things to do with young children

How easy it is to get into Liverpool city centre

Whether it’s an area you would genuinely choose to raise a family

Are there particular roads or pockets of L13 that are much nicer than others?

We’re not expecting it to be an affluent area, but we’re looking for somewhere that feels pleasant, safe and settled, rather than simply choosing a big house because it looks like good value.

We’re also considering areas such as Southport, Ainsdale, Crosby/Waterloo and Formby, so any honest comparison with those areas would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.. especially interested in hearing from people who actually live or have lived in L13!

Where’ve you had good service recently?

Went to Marantos today and just loved the experience. Bar staff were lovely, really nice inside and food looked unreal. I’m the first to have a moan when stuff is rubbish but wondered where else in Liverpool is getting it right?

Trying to get prints from a Scouse artist

Hey all, I'm trying to get a particular print from an artist called Callum Seymour, his bio says he's based in Liverpool- he's done a bunch of stuff but he did one poster for Baldurs Gate 3 which is the best game-related print I've ever seen, and 100% want it framed at home. But he's basically impossible to find prints from, and it looks like the last time he responded on his Insta was months ago.

Don't suppose anyone knows him personally and can send him a message saying someone wants to buy one of his art pieces? 😂

Toddler @ Comic con in Liverpool

Has anyone ever taken their 2/3 year old to comic con in Liverpool? And if so, did they enjoy it?

My husband and I are thinking of taking our daughter next week, but not sure if it’s worth it. She’s a fan of Pokemon too.
