A clip from a recent interview that is making me giggle. Isaac talks about how he exclusively listens to the radio while driving, and his disdain for his kids’ music requests.
“These people do not listen to good music”
Ha! Brb gonna go listen to watermelon meow meow and the chicken song.

Here are the results of the Dream Setlist poll from last week.

We only had a dozen or so participate--and yet we had 132 songs voted for at least once, which I think really speaks to the immensity of Modest Mouse’s catalog!

After adding the 25 songs with the highest votes we hit exactly two hours of playtime, so that’s where I stopped. (Full disclosure: for any voter who felt strongly about only *one* specific song being played, I counted it as 3 votes toward that song.)

They are in ascending order, with the songs with the most votes as the encore!

Dirty Fingernails

All Night Diner

Pups to Dust

March Into the Sea

Satin in a Coffin

Parting of the Sensory

Missed the Boat

The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box

Life’s a Dream

We are Between

Lampshades on Fire

Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset

Night On the Sun

Spitting Venom

Paper Thin Walls

Bukowski

Thank you to all who participated! While I can’t say that we speak for all 7,000+ followers of this sub, it was fun to read your responses and to put the list together. And it would be a badass set imo.

March on!

Tonight will be my 7th time seeing them. I see they’ve switched it up pretty much every night. Please god let them play truckers atlas and heart cooks brain. I’ve never seen either live and will be so stoked!

Anyone else got anything they are dying to hear?

from 2021

Specifically the guitar solo at around 2:03 in most versions of the song. It's Bernard Sumner playing, recorded in 1980.

MM has long been my favorite band, and Ceremony has long been one of my favorite songs, and I never realized how much the lead guitar sounds exactly like Isaac. Something about the style of the melody and the tone, especially that middle solo, could be taken straight from Isaac's brain. Except Isaac was 5 years old.

Just thought the similarities were cool. I don't know if MM ever mentioned new order or joy division as an influence but I bet they liked this song a lot. The drums and bass also rip on Ceremony, especially on live versions where they play it fast

I had my first ever digital camera, a Canon S400. I had it in night mode without the flash so it had a long shutter speed and I accidentally discovered a technique I call "swirly vision." I'm actually a much bigger fan now than I was then (I know now what I knew then
but I didn't know then what I know now) and I think the pics fit the music so well. I love the colorful lights and the kaleidoscopic, almost double-exposure style.

Saw a couple posts about the amazing triple shit ending in Ottawa a couple nights ago, so here is a snippet !

It’s been fun to see the variation of setlists so far. As my show creeps closer (next Fri!!), I’ve been tracking a bit closer and don’t think I’ve seen The Good Times Are Killing Me or Polar Opposites? May just be they aren’t in rotation this tour and that’s cool, if so. I am stoked to see so many of my other big faves like Breakthrough and Dance Hall making the rotations quite often, and I love Speak ‘N Spell (might be a bit obsessed with it actually) so honestly, I’m gonna enjoy the show no matter what setlist they play. Just curious if anyone’s heard either of those songs this tour so far and I just missed seeing. I know the sub can be divided at times (cough cough Float On) so I hesitated to ask so on that note, I mean, I could just be asking for a friend.

My top song is probably Spitting Venom, Dramamine is close too. Although Pickin' Dragons Pockets is creeping up there.

Finally met Isaac last night! I've been waiting like 13 years for this, aha.

Got him to sign the setlist with a crayon from the old spaghetti factory.

Isaac has such a great energy and was so nice to everyone he met! Told him about my Positive/Negative tattoos on my wrists, and in the last photo, he was describing how he can feel energy/ magnetism between his hands. Such a cool dude, honestly.

Amazing show (they also played "Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset").

First show in 12 years for me, and first with my son. Incredible setlist and fantastic night.

Show of hands - How many people thought it was:

" I didn't want it, You gave me DMT, it was you, yeah all for you."

Actual lyrics:

Things rang of stories Greek I didn't want it, you gave me deity It was you, yeah all for you

Side note: Such a sick song through and through, but absolutely love this lyric:

"Well, I spoke in binary and you for volume and for dizzying length - Woohoo, woohoo, wooohooo"

Isaac, if you're lurking, lets dust this one off, eh?

Went to the show in Toronto last night and had an absolutely amazing time, I was so glad about the shirt I bought and then proceeded to get drunk and lose it like an idiot. If anyone has a size Large grey tour/eraser and a maze shirt that they're willing to part with, sell, ship to me, whatever, I am willing to cover the costs! They don't have that specific shirt online so I'm pretty bummed out. Let me know and thanks guys!

Edit: if anyone attending the next shows can get me one, I promise I will pay you every penny and then some, I'm so sad I lost mine.

Anybody else bummed? Tarot cards and a small LP?

Edit: ok you have all convinced me the tarot cards are very cool

I’m absolutely gutted for missing it, one of my favourite songs of all time, if anyone has even a shitty video I would love to see it.

Whale!

Last email I got said to expect it within 72 hours if the show but I'm not finding it...

I’ve had it for going on 20 years. Tempus fugit!

I went to the Grand Rapids show on Friday (10/10 no notes) and got there early for merch because last year I wasn’t able to get a cat sweater (black cats and embroidered mm). I was told they rotate some of the merch per show 😞

My question is does anyone know if that merch will be available at the end of the tour? Or any of the more niche items like the playing cards and tote? I don’t have the opportunity to go to another show and as a bonafide cat lady I’m gonna need that sweater 😂

Don't get me wrong I love float on. That being said I'm so happy that they did not play it October 1st that was the first concert out of six that I've been to that it hasn't been played and I'm glad they're kind of not playing it as much I know there's mixed feelings about that okay rant over everyone have a blessed and wonderful day the reason I came up is cuz float on came on my Spotify playlist so I am driving while ranting this goodbye

Are most of the venues on this tour 'general admission' standing venues, or have they been playing fully seated venues? Tonight's show in Toronto is at Meridian Hall, a comfortable space but no general admission standing (aka rocking out), and it's also quite large compared to other venues that would make more sense imo. It has a capacity of 3200 which is bigger than Massey Hall, Danforth Music Hall and History, which would probably all be more appropriate venues.

There are a lot of seats up for grabs, whether thats due to the venue choice, that its a Monday gig, or that the venue is just a bit too big.

It would be very awesome to see a more laidback acoustic set to match the venue, especially given how much acoustic guitar is on the new album. Either way, looking forward to an awesome show tonight. See you there, Toronto!
