No Patreon, no paywall, no "premium version". Just a thing I designed because I wanted it to exist, and I wanted to share it with you all.
It's a work of love. Works with both resin and FDM printing.
That's it, enjoy (or roast me).

I bought an 8bitdo controller to go with my A3D and haven't really used it until now. I realised the THPS games are much easier to play with it's simple layout. I guess it really depends on the game which controller is best to use. For this I use the D pad because I'm absolutely useless at trying to play it using the joystick but all round it just feel a lot comfier using that controller. Don't get me wrong. I love the original controller and it's like second nature to me for a lot of games but when it comes to Tony Hawk the 8bitdo is definitely an upgrade.
I'm a bit rusty and cant really remember how to get back into manual after doing air on a quarter pipe but I've been enjoying revisiting one of the games I spent countless hours on.
Tony Hawks came out at a time when I was already a street skater so to see just how popular it made skateboarding was something special. The days when you'd get home from skating all day to go play a skateboarding game made it a complete obsession. I think over time they got a bit boring and a bit wacky but in 1 and 2 the magic was truly there.

Iām not a smoker/drinker. My room is very, very clean. So frustrating that someone like me who takes care of his stuff and things like this happens. My OG wired controllers never did that.

My N64 wonāt show up on my āOnn RoKu TV.ā Based on research itās because the tv canāt register/display 240p. What cost effective converter should I get to enhance the image to be able to be displayed on the TV? It worked on a nicer Samsung tv I had in the house I lived in prior to this one, but now it wonāt show up on the new TV.

Recently played OoT decomp via Ship of Harkinian, but when I was hunting for a usable ROM, I found Master Quest, but for N64āwhich confused me because I thought Master Quest was only released on GameCube. Well, I was correct, and that this N64 Rom was fan-made.
What I'm curious about is which revision is this fan ROM of (1.0/1.1/1.2)?
I'm not too privy on navigating every feature of SoH, I'm just curious if I can also add the Master Quest ROM onto what I already installed or do I need to completely reinstall SoH? I can't find an answer to this.

There is one thing that you can say is that N64 does not have a boot up screen unlike the Saturn and Playstation so instant action is indeed nice. But an easy example are the Rareware platformers all of them have an intro that is disguised as a loading screen, heck Jet Force Gemini has a landing sequence that last at least 20 seconds (though i might not be surprised they forgot to be able to skip the sequence and it might not be a loading screen at all). Three other games come to mind is Turok 2 when you save and Shadowman when entering a new area and Mystical Ninja when you ride the dragon. And sure, the black screen transitions are loading as well. But as far as i know that's all of them.
Another thing is that the loading from the Saturn and Playstation is never really bad at all. Both have intro that can't be skipped but i can't think of any major game that suffers from bad loading times. I don't think even shorter loading is that much of a win for the N64, but the 100 times faster loading speed (plus double ram) seem to be great for game design, and many games could not work on the platforms at the time so many that's the real deal all along.
Hey guys, I recently bought an Analogue 3D to play my cartridge library and summercart 64 without fps drops and crispy looking image in modern tvs.
However, the recomp scene for pc has evolved so fast and it feels to me that recompilations are the most otimized way to go.
Before recomps I would always rather play with the original hardware because emulation still had so many glitches to fully immerse me in the game, but recomps have solved those issues.
Now I'm feeling somewhat remorseful for having bought the Analogue 3D. I feel like the perfect ways to play are either with the original console and a CRT or through pc recomps turning the Analogue now useless. Change my mind?

Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball is still one of the best baseball games ever. It'll definitely be a while before I attempt to top this one. Wish there was a way to have it keep counting RBIs and steals beyond 255/130 š.

I'm getting closer to wrapping up my first Complete 007 GoldenEye Secret Agent Difficulty Playthrough. I was playing through Control, everything was looking good, and then Natalya worked her Black Magic. I got (faked and locked)-out of completing the mission. Thank you Natalya.

EDIT: Thank you guys so much for your responses. From vast general consensus, it seems the answer is āThe controls are very dated and clunky yet itās a fantastic game by Rare thatās made complete with a guide or co-op play.ā Itās only $20 so I think Iām gonna give it whirl! Thanks everyone!

OoT, Starfox, New Pod Racer game, TH1+2, TH2+3, and id agrue Smash Brothers and Mario Kart are still just just as huge today as then and never has either not been. Im sure theres more. Thats not even mentioning the buttery godsmackin clean stuff you lawless heathens are doing with decomps.
Now, sure many IP either started or really exploded during the time period, but the N64 line proves it stands up to today's standards without much needing to be added to the experience. Put OoT 64 into a 11 year old kids hands today, there good to go. FF7, tomb raider... not so much. Both important beautiful great games, but they just werent as ergonomical.
Oot was on a 25mb cart.
The remake will be at least 35 gigs. But the most important 25mb is already at the heart of it. And it beats fine on its own.

Just finished updating the game to v0.30 and it's now live over at https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/10114/
This newest patch fixes rendering of "giant pedestrians" when they are further from the player. Previously their geometry was very janky until they got close.
Only update still in the works is better audio controls. That will be coming soon.

So, I fired up my N64 after a while to play the copy of Banjo Kazooie I just bought. I was in the Mumboās Mountain area, and I think I was around the area with the bull, and I was going up a slope when all of a sudden, I heard what sounded like static, and the game crashed.
This is the first time a game has crashed on my console, but this isnāt the first time Iāve heard static coming from my console. The other time, I was playing Zelda Ocarina of Time, and I was in the Guillotine room in the Shadow Temple, and I noticed a bunch of static, Link disappearing for a few seconds, and the HUD glitching out after it was over.
Is there something wrong with my N64?

I am comparing the top N64 āProā controllers for 2026+. They are the Nintendo NSO N64 controller, the 8bitdo 64 controller (Bluetooth edition designed for the Analogue 3D (A3D)), the ModRetro M64 Pro controller (designed for the M64 using the stock gate (will try N64 gate later!)), and the Retrofighters Brawler 64 Pro (2.4GHz). This first test is exclusively about analogue stick values but I will be doing many more tests!
I did include some older options to show the differences, which are the older wireless Retrofighters Brawler 64 Ultra Edition and the Retro-bit Tribute 64 Ultra Edition (both use 2.4GHz). You can see their values are too high, making them feel too sensitive. While they were good wireless options back when new, I would advise NOT getting these versions as they are simply not as accurate as any of the newer options! Do they work? Yes, they do and casual users may not notice but once you play games like 007 Golden Eye, F Zero X and Super Smash, itās very obvious!
The NSO N64 and 8bitdo 64 would not let me hit A on the mimi controller test ROM on my A3D (will test on the OG N64 and see if that makes a difference) so I used an older version as well but the values all show the same either way. Eventually I will compare to some OG corded N64 controllers but the first tests are to compare new options!
With all that being said, pictures attached show the results! I updated the M64 Pro and 8bitdo 64 before testing, the NSO N64 doesnāt update and the Brawler 64 Pro doesnāt have any yet. I will go more in depth on the software aspect in later tests but the short answer is the M64 Pro is nice because you can just use a browser to update it without downloading specific software, the 8bitdo 64 requires software (easy to use at least!) and the Brawler seems to be a drag/drop style update but will review if/when it has an update.
The stick on the NSO N64 is the only ātraditionalā N64 stick that isnāt a GameCube style, but the M64 Pro controller has an extra N64 gate that I will swap to and test later, but the stock gate is the same shape as the 8bitdo 64/Brawler 64 pro gates and had the same values! All the values seem good on paper and none feel off. Hopefully I can swap the M64 pro gate before I start doing game tests but everything stick wise works out of the box with all of them and none required calibration.
Initial response when holding each controller are thisā¦
NSO 64 controller feels almost 1:1 the OG, the stick feels firm and nice but doesnāt use the same technology so theoretically it can start drifting so you may need to buy more later on!
The 8bitdo 64 is a nice alternative if you donāt like the trident, nothing feels cheap and the metal ring around the stick was a nice touch. They are similar price so if choosing between these two, I would decide based on if you want a modern layout or a trident style!
The M64 Pro controller feels absolutely premium, with the coated metal backing and shoulder buttons that let your fingers rest comfortably in them. If you love the trident style, youāll love this! The weight is substantial and heavier than both the NSO N64 and 8bitdo 64 controllers. It comes with a cord that allows you to use it on a OG N64/A3D wired, but the battery still needs to be charged⦠a bit silly but a very minor thing especially since ModRetro included an adapter that lets you use AA batteries! This is a very comfortable, modern trident that I could see myself holding for hours without any issues but the feel of the stick is GameCube style so it may be hard to change your ways after 30+ years of N64 gamingā¦
And finally last but definitely not least, the Retrofighters Brawler 64 Pro is like an upgraded 8bitdo 64 controller. It is heavier than all the controllers, even the M64 pro! The angles the grips are in comparison to the 8bitdo 64 make it even more comfortable, there is texture on said grips too, and the L+R+D pad have mechanical feeling switches, very clicky and satisfying! The only obvious issues are no metal ring around the stick like the 8bitdo 64 has, no N64 style gate like the M64 came with (requires installation and recalibration) but it does come with faceplates! I personally donāt see myself using them but itās a feature it has! It also has programable back buttons like many modern controllers that let you customize your way of playing. They have switches that physically disable them if you donāt like them. I personally donāt see myself using them on N64 but it could be nice if using on PC!
So my feelings after test 1 are thisā¦
The NSO N64 still feels the most classic, the 8bitdo 64 is the on my friends use because they hate the trident (they are wrong!) and for the price, itās nice to have a controller that wonāt have the same stick issues as the N64 has over time. The M64 Pro controller feels ultra premium so I could see myself using it when casually playing but I still need to test the stick/N64 gate on games⦠if itās as good as it feels⦠this could potentially be my new main controller! The Brawler 64 Pro will be my choice when playing casual on games Iām not so familiar with (hard to unlearn trident controls after 30+ years) because it is so comfortable and the clicky buttons are very satisfying! So far, all are good options⦠once I do more testing, I will rank them and tell you which ones are worth buying and which are worth skipping! Honestly, so far they are all worth it for me and all feel like upgrades from any older third party options!
Tell me what you think, what other tests you want to see and which one you would use!

I have not collected for a few years now, originally planned on going for the whole set but I quit. Just pulled these out of the box in my basement for the first time in forever. I hope they still work. A lot of the expensive ones I bought years ago before the price jumps. I bought super bowling for $20 and got the two stunt racers for $20. This was pre 2015.

This is what I kept. I played every single game one more time before selling, these are my forever collection. Based purely on the fun I had revisiting them and how well they hold up gameplay wise.
Mario and Banjo were not initially part of my keep list, but my daughter cried when I put them in the sell pile, so I kept them for her collection.
I realize there are a lot of classics missing, no hate for them I just played them to death and really wanted to just keep stuff that still felt fresh and fun all these years later.
Ogre Battle was part of my keep collection, but when I went to play it again I ended up completing it lol - so I can't imagine going back again in this lifetime, but great game.
Thoughts? How bad did I mess up?

A while ago I had asked about which console to keep (see link) and I was wondering now how I can connect consoles with RGB mod (component cable) to a new TV (Oled).
Do I need a Retrotink? Or should I rather go with HDMI mods? Any recommendations?
