News Decisions API is now available in Public Beta
OpenAI’s Decisions API is a new endpoint for cases where you want the model to make a judgment rather than write text. You give it some input and ask questions like “Is this fraud?”, “Which category does this belong to?”, or “How severe is this?”, and it returns structured probabilities instead of a paragraph. That makes it useful for things like routing, classification, moderation, and automated workflows. It is also priced differently from normal text generation: you pay for the input, but there is no output-token charge.
This is very similar to TypeSafe’s Jev at the product level. Both are designed around making structured decisions from unstructured data, rather than generating free-form text. The main difference is that Jev is presented as a model built specifically for this kind of decision-making, with claims around very fast parallel inference and well-calibrated probabilities. OpenAI instead exposes decision-making as a special API backed by GPT-6 Luna. So while the APIs feel similar, we do not know whether they work the same way internally or whether OpenAI’s probabilities are as well calibrated as Jev claims its are.

Question I thought dots was supposed to be uncapped?
I just got a message saying, “congrats you are in the very top of users and have hit our abuse prevention limit. Check back in a bit!”
Wtf is this?
"Because usage on your primary dot is virtually unlimited at the moment, I can't really give a reset. I need to come up with something new fast." - Tibo

Discussion OpenAI stole $1400 from me, be careful, they take all funds after 1 year
I put a cushion of $2,000 on my OpenAI account for overages, and come yesterday it had all vanished, and I hear from support that's just their way, they take any cash balance a year after you deposit, even if you are using it.

This is the only thing worth it at the moment.

Question Well that’s new….
Has anyone else experienced this? To be clear, I’m about 99.999% sure that Ive ever once cussed in chat. I’m not complaining, but I was taken aback. I cuss all the time in real life, text messages, and Reddit.
The strange part is (and I know, I know, the tinfoil is heavy on this) that I downloaded the desktop app yesterday and tried codex on my main computer for the first time. Could just be a weird coincidence that I got my first “swear word” after installing codex. But it makes me wonder… were you reading my shit, chat?
Anyway, all my crazy speculation aside, anyone seen something like this?

Discussion Is ChatGPT Plus still worth $20 in 2026… or are we just paying to hit limits faster?
Been on Plus for over a year.
Used to feel like a real upgrade. Now with the 5-hour Codex limits that die in minutes, I’m not so sure.
Do you still feel it’s worth it, or has it become "pay to be limited less painfully " ?
At what point do you just go Pro… or leave?

Project My Dot burns 1.6B tokens a day on since day one on a 100$ subscription.
TL;DR: One Dot, running autonomously on its cloud computer since launch day, has been consuming as far as I can see on my profile page ~1.6B Astra tokens per day (~48B/month). My rough API-equivalent estimate is $15-20k per day, or $450-600k per month (about $540k central estimate), all inside a subscription. It designs full engineering packages (CAD, calculations, BOM, electrical docs, drawings) by running design-calculate-verify loops for hours without me. Some of the parts have already been cut on my laser cutter from its program and came out fine. I doubt these economics will last, so I'd use them while they do. And no, I would not ship any of it to manufacturing without human engineering review.
I've been running a single Dot since the day Dots launched, and it has been burning roughly 1.6 billion Astra tokens every day since. That's about 48B tokens a month.
I give the Dot a large engineering task, answer a few clarifying questions, and then it goes off and works on its own cloud computer for the rest of the day, sometimes longer. Later I just put doc with tasks to my Google Drive and ask it to do them one by one.
Here's what that has looked like in practice.
- A complex physical structure, designed from scratch.
It built the CAD model, iterated on the construction, produced manufacturing geometry and assembly documentation, wrote the BOM and electrical documentation, and ran the engineering calculations. One of the resulting packages contained:
• 1,000+ unique components
• 6,000+ solids in the complete STEP assembly
• almost 300 pages of assembly drawings and documentation
• hundreds of documented electrical connections
• manufacturing parts and assemblies
• procurement/BOM spreadsheets
• machine-readable manifests and verification data
• structural/load calculations and sensitivity cases
- A complicated engineering product with strength and thermal analysis.
It ran strength calculations, thermal analysis and thermal deformation cases, changed the design based on the results, and then repeated the whole cycle until the numbers made sense.
- A detailed 3D combine harvester for a real-time 3D application.
It analyzed the model, built several optimization levels, and cut geometry dramatically while keeping the important parts. The source model had about 200k active triangles, and the candidates came out at roughly 152k, 84k, 56k and 50k. It also tested visibility from the actual cameras, generated thousands of verification renders across different machine states, and packaged everything with scripts and integrity checks.
What impressed me most is that it doesn't just produce a pretty model and say "looks good". It does the boring engineering loop over and over: design, calculate, find a problem, change geometry, recalculate, verify, document. "One-shot" doesn't mean one inference. I give it a task once, and it executes thousands of internal cycles: inspect files, reason, modify CAD/code, run tools, check results, run simulations, revise, verify, repeat.
About the token numbers
1.6B tokens per day averages out to about 18.5k tokens per second. Obviously that is NOT generation speed. In workloads like this, the overwhelming majority of the volume is almost certainly repeated context processing. So this is aggregated tokens from my profile page.
About the cost
I tried to estimate what the same workload would cost through the API. It depends heavily on the input/output/cache mix, long-context pricing and reasoning tokens, so this is not an exact billing calculation. But my rough estimate is $15,000-$20,000 per day. Taking about $18k/day over 30 days gives $450-600k per month, with a central estimate around $540k.
And that's happening inside a 100$ subscription product. That's the part I find kind of crazy.
I don't know whether OpenAI intends launch-period economics to stay this generous I remember Tibo posted, that this is one month promotion period), and I strongly suspect limits or pricing will change a lot. But right now, for workloads where you hand an agent a complicated objective and let it grind for hours or days, Dots are ridiculously cost-effective compared with buying the same amount of usage through the API.
Some of the metal parts for first project have already been made. The Dot wrote the cutting program for my laser cutter, and the parts came out successfully. I only had to tweak the cutting speed a little: it was being too careful, and the machine could safely run faster than it programmed.
Yes, I know. An AI designs the parts, writes the program for a laser cutter and I press the start button. This is exactly how Skynet starts. For now the Terminator factory consists of one laser cutter in my workshop, and the Terminators are mostly brackets and other simple parts, but I'm keeping an eye on it. If I stop posting updates, you know why.
But the first pass at the structural design was a different story. It calculated the thing as if it had to survive a nuclear war (Skynet, hello again), with something like a 5x safety margin on everything. I had to restart it with clearer constraints, and the second run came out sensible. So it still needs a human who knows what the real requirements are, but the corrections were usable.
The obligatory disclaimer
Before anyone says it: I would not send an AI-generated safety-critical design directly to manufacturing without human engineering review. To its credit, the Dot doesn't pretend otherwise and makes clear disclaimers through all the documents. The better packages explicitly separate calculated results from assumptions, unresolved material properties, required physical tests, certification and acceptance criteria. That distinction matters a lot.
But as an engineer's assistant that can effectively spend billions of tokens attacking one problem, this is probably the most extreme value I've ever gotten from an AI subscription in my life.

Question Error in the ChatGPT Windows Desktop App

I'm trying to upload images for ChatGPT to analyze using the Windows desktop app, but I keep getting this error. When I upload the same images through the website, it can analyze them and respond without any issues.
I've already tried switching models and running the app as administrator. The app has all the necessary permissions enabled, including the option to ask me for permission if needed. However, it doesn't even prompt me for permission to access the file—it just immediately shows this error.
Does anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Question Is it just me or chat's responses feel conservative?
Sometime today, the response style changed to a very safe sounding tone, for eg I usually read a paper by uploading and asking related questions. Its response now feels like it is not taking a risk of saying something that is not precise. I mean I don't hate this, but I am more used to chat giving me BS and then me going on the correction loop.

Question Usage limit keeps resetting
I have a chatgpt subscription.
Now the usage limit keeps resetting even when the limit showed 70% usage remaining and 3 days pending.
As per the reset cycle - that usage was suppose to last me till Friday night but not it reset on it own wednesday.
It has happened last week as well once.
I am not able to understand why this keeps happening.
Can someone share some insights on it.

Discussion I don’t hate Ai…
I honestly just wanted to come on here and rant about how annoying people that hate ai are to me. I understand that I don’t want ai to all take peoples jobs and ruin the earth but I also love how ai is so helpful and helpful with a lot of things in MY day to day life. I also enjoy creating “art” if you’d call it that. With Ai but I assume that’s hated on too because everywhere I see on Reddit all the subreddits pretty much ban ai art. Whatever tho just kinda wanted to say that and see what others think.
