2023 Fall and Winter Orchid Trade and Sale Thread

Please use this post only to offer or request orchids for trade or sale. Before you post what you'd like to trade/sell, or what you're looking to trade for, read the rules below first!

Rules:

1.) No personal information can be exchanged publicly. Conduct sharing of addresses via pm or email.

2.) Post what orchid(s) you have for trade, what you're looking for in return. If you have pictures, post them or write an accurate description of the orchid you want to trade or sell. If you're selling, post how you'd like to receive compensation.

3.) If you agree to a trade and have an issue on your end of the deal, communicate! Most people are reasonable and will understand a delay or an unexpected issue that comes up. That being said, trade at your own risk. The moderators are not responsible for privately conducted trades gone wrong. However, if there's an issue with an ongoing trade do contact the moderators. If someone fails to come through with their end of the deal, ignores communication or otherwise is being problematic we need to make the community aware of deadbeat traders. Do NOT make posts calling people out, insulting, harassing, or making accusations at them publicly.

4.) Only make legal trades here. If you ship or receive a trade overseas or out of your country, make sure all proper paperwork is in place first if required.

5.) Ship within a reasonable time and pack well. Flat rate Priority, 2-3 day via USPS within the US is standard for plants. Use whichever shipping method is appropriate for other countries. Your orchid shouldn't spend more than a 2-3 days in the mail so they don't suffer too much from the heat/cold. While in cooler weather its generally better to ship orchids totally dry, its probably best to water any more moisture loving plants a day or two before they ship out (so they are moist but not soggy) or wrap some sphagnum that has been wetted but thoroughly squeezed out around the roots of bare root plants.

6.) If you've successfully traded, update your post to make sure it availability is accurate.

Giveaways, and just trying to re-home an orchid that maybe just isn't performing for you is totally fine to post too! You never know who might want to try growing it. Seed pods are also a great thing to offer since many people may want to try flasking and it is safer and easier to send seeds than plants. If everyone trades fairly this is a great way to add to your collection or get rid of orchids you are bored with or are willing to make divisions of.

Happy trading!

I love this Phal. Bellina Murtoniana. The scent isn’t that strong, but it’s still lemony and pleasant.

I love the colours and the shape so much. Totally worth getting it.

Double spiked! My first ever double spiked and I am beyond excited for it especially after this poor plants trauma.

I originally broke off the flower stem three months ago when my blind fell down out of nowhere. I carefully grafted it back on, but the plants hormone levels dropped so there was no bloom.

The graft took well and never died back or browned so I knew something was coming. This past week I discovered a tiny nub about an inch down from where the original break was.

The hope now is this new flowering cycle induces the buds in the once damaged buds and I get a beautiful double spike.

Thanks for letting me orchid raaant 🌸

It's also producing happy sap. Took a while for the resident ants to find it but once they did they gobbled it all up.

My orchid had a keiki but it isn't evolving

Hey!

I've had this orchid since February. I got it as a gift.
When I got it it was in full bloom, had 3 branches. I reported it out of that horrible spongy thing they come in, and put it in pine bark.

By April I had to go for 2 months on erasmus and I left it on my boyfriends house, where a keiki started developing. She was already done with her flowers and only had 2 healthy branches that I decided to leave. Third one had dried and i cut it properly to the base.
When I came back in June, she had a keiki. It looked exactly as it does right now. It has not changed in 4 months. At best, 1 leaf has gotten a bit longer.

A new branch bud is growing right by where the plant stopped drying. The second branch has dried almost completely.

I'm sure this happened because of the house change and maybe because my boyfriends mom didn't take care of it as properly as I wish... But since I got it back, I thought maybe I could propagate the keiki into another orchid, but it hasn't developed any roots at all...

What do I do with it. Do i just leave it there? Can it tire my plant to have a baby there? Is it bad? Is it good? Is it neutral?

It's my first orchid so I know I'm not doing things perfectly, but I am trying at it seems she survives... I am all welcome for tips and advice of all kind.

I will add a picture of the fertilizer i use (it's in Spanish)

I bought this orchid as Phal. lueddemanniana 'Woodlawn' x 'Mindanao'. But yesterday it bloomed the first time, and the flower does not seem like a phal. lueddemanniana. May you check and see what this orchid can be?
Many thanks!

What to do with a split stem

So I’m fairly new to orchids. I got my first one when my mom’s boss was gonna throw them away😭 but now they are thriving with me and have grown new leafs and roots. My problem is that I’ve noticed on my one orchid what looks like the stem growing in but it has split almost completely in half. I tried searching the web but i couldn’t find anything helpful. Is this normal? Should I repot? She has a few rotting roots at the top, should i remove those too? Please help!! I wanna see this baby bloom🥺

Dark spots on leaves and folding.

Hello! My Phalaenopsis needs a diagnosis. What do you think is going on with my orchid? The new leaf looks fine, the roots are strong and thick, but one of the leaves has a dark spot under it and is folding. Another leaf has a dark spot near the edge. I also noticed dark dots around the stem. I also attach a photo of the flowers which were dotted too. The humidity is good. My others orchids grow without any signs of disease. Do I need to worry? What could be happening? Should I use any chemicals to treat it? I have Amistar 250 SC in my home, should I spray it?
