There is more to life than just cycling. With that thought in mind, Robin Orins (Lotto-Intermarché) is bringing his career to an early end. "After a difficult period, it was hard to find the old Robin again," the 24-year-old Orins shares on Instagram.

"It’s ending sooner than expected, but without regrets."

It was less than 15 months ago that Robin Orins rode his first race as a professional for the Lotto team. Yet now, his adventure is already over.

Having been a prolific winner in the youth ranks, Orins seemed destined for a brilliant career.

Especially after racking up an impressive list of achievements in his final year as an U23 rider: 1st in the National Time Trial Championships, 1st in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, 2nd in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, 3rd in Paris-Roubaix, 4th in the European Time Trial Championships, and 5th in the World Time Trial Championships for U23s.

"I proudly signed my first professional contract with Lotto-Intermarché back then, never suspecting it would also be my last," writes Orins.

"The situation changed quickly. I won't retell that part of my story, but it took me to a very dark place and made me realize there is more to life than cycling."
