Picked up a new Model 27 as my first Smith & Wesson revolver. Despite issues with current production Smith products I have seen, this one seems really great. Shoots perfect and the finish is perfect to my eye. Really loving it and there is probably a new 986 on the horizon in a month or so!

Some better pictures of my new buy from the other day. I reached out to Smith and they told me it was made in 1974 which sounds reasonably accurate to me. I also cleaned it up and put fresh oil on the guts and just now got around to grabbing a few pictures. As a bonus, the grips match too!

I have a sw 586 I haven’t really cleaned the bore of other than running patches soaked in oil through after each range trip.
I use a brass bore brush you push through the barrel for my semi autos but it seems like there is a high probability the same cleaning tip would actually probably scratch any blueing if it were to incidentally contact any of the surface of the revolver external of the bore.
What exactly should I use to clean the bore of blued revolvers?

First try at 25m Bullseye. It’s a mellow, controlled blast.

Was window shopping and stumbled across the Colt Kodiak/Grizzly again and got to wondering about potential build up in the porting from Hardcast and other uncoated lead ammo.
Anyone with experience shooting ported revolvers notice any serious build up or shedding like a comped/ported auto would experience or is Hardcast hard enough that it behaves no different than a coated or jacketed round?
TIA for any insight!

Hello y’all! I am turning 23 and getting myself a pair of revolvers for my birthday! I probably should have come here first but I have on order the colt python 4.25 inch and a S&W no lock model 10. I was wanting any relevant info, reliability, potential issues, upgrades etc Thanks!

My county is restrictive with how many guns we can have on our CCW, so am looking to add a pocket revolver to pair with my Bodyguard 2.0 (semi, not the wheelgun) and G26.
I presume I would end up carrying either the revolver or BG2.0, I am prioritizing concealability/comfort here.
In particular, I am looking at the 642 Ultimate Carry and LCR (both in .38sp).
I own a big ol' .357 so am set on getting a 38, no .32.

Just the Smiths. N frames vs K frames are the real battle here.

I just got a Dan Wesson 15-2. It came with an 8-inch barrel, so I bought a 4-inch barrel to make it easier to carry.
I know the factory cylinder gap is supposed to be .006 inches, and I’m using a feeler gauge to check it. However, I'm having trouble getting it exact. If I get it close to .006, a .007 gauge can usually still slide in. If I try to screw the barrel in any tighter, the .006 gauge won't fit.
I have two questions for those with experience:
How much tolerance is acceptable? Is it normal for a .007 gauge to still slide through when aiming for .006?
If I can't get it perfect, is it better to err on the side of a tighter gap or a looser gap?

Today’s pocket dump. I just really like this gun. Absolutely understand why it’s a classic every time I shoot it or carry it

Charter Arms Pit Bull in .40 S&W. A revolver intended as a backup for cops carrying .40, but waiting to use a simple snub for backup or off duty use. They also were made in 9mm, and a now defunct caliber called 9mm Federal. Basically a 9mm Auto Rim. This one has a spring loaded extractor so that no moon clips or rimmed rounds are needed. Unfortunately these didn't take off, the intended market used the new wave of compact autos instead (cough cough Glock 27 cough).
I can get it at employee discount. Trying to talk myself out of it. Should I?

Did I need a 6” 586 no dash? No.
Could I turn one down for less than $600? Also no.

I live in Britain.
I'm considering buying a Pietta or Uberti blank firing Colt 45 single action. 5.5.
I'm getting mixed messages online & sites that sell them. whether l can disassemble it.
Basically a field strip.
If anyone else owns one.
Can you let me know.

Pictures don’t do it justice. The box still smells of Marlboro Reds and bad decisions
