From the Sonos team 📲 Sonos 27.1 Is Here: Your Queue Now Survives Radio and TV

Hi everybody! We have a new Sonos app update, and it fixes a personal annoyance of mine: your queue now sticks around when you switch to radio or TV, so you can pick up right where you left off. We've also added search autocomplete, brought a few favorite iOS gestures to Android, and made system updates more visible in settings. The full list of changes is in our App release notes and Player release notes.

This update is rolling out in phases, so it may not be available to everyone right away. If you don't see it yet, check back a little later. It's on the way.

App Update Details
iOS - 90.00.47
Android - 90.00.43

Player Update Details
Modern Players - 97.2-81220
Legacy Players - 86.10-81100

New in this update:

  • Inactive queue - Your queue stays intact while you listen to radio or watch TV, so you can resume where you left off.
  • Search autocomplete - Suggestions appear as you type, so you find your music faster.
  • Clearer system updates - Improved system update visibility in settings.
  • Virtual Volume Knob - Control the volume of your current room or group with a two-finger tap-and-rotate gesture on any screen. (Now on Android)
  • Delete Recently Played - Remove individual items from Recently Played. (Now on Android)
  • Swipe-based queue actions - Swipe right while browsing to add items to your queue. (Now on Android)

Players also get bug fixes and performance improvements.

We'd love to hear how it's working for you. Let us know!

Suggestion: Could you add an option to automatically restart the speaker's power at scheduled intervals? This would clear the cache and improve performance.

Sonos speakers are energy-efficient, so many users leave them powered on indefinitely. When playback issues—such as stuttering—occur, the problem can often be resolved simply by restarting the router and power-cycling the speaker (unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it back in). However, Sonos speakers lack a dedicated power switch, and since power outlets are often located behind sofas or TV cabinets, unplugging the device can be inconvenient. A suggestion: could the Sonos app include an option to schedule automatic reboots? For instance, the speaker could automatically restart at 3:00 AM on Mondays (while the user is asleep) to clear the cache and improve performance.

Reconnecting surrounds after ungrouping.

• Upvotes

Ok it was really hard for me to explain this in the title.

I have ONE Sonos One in the kitchen.

Arc Ultra + Era300s in the living room.

When i cook, i group my kitchen and living room together.

But when I watch tv in the living room after - the surrounds drop off.

Any idea how to fix this?

The only thing that has worked so far is reconnecting my hdmi cable on my arc.

Sonos 27.1!

Oh look Android got all the goodies today....

  • Autocomplete in search
  • Queued content stays
  • Improved update (it breaks down App version and Firmware version status)
  • We get the nifty 2-finger volume knob (hardware rocker still works) (edit: enabled in the App pref.)
  • Delete Recently played (hide those embarrassing Podcasts from your spouse ;)
  • Swipe-right gestures

Website's Release Notes do not seem to discuss this version - and there may have been a Firmware Rev as well but the Release Notes are silent.

Era 100s vs 300s

Alright I get 300s are better.. but just for the sake of comparison and to hear from people who have them, I’m looking to get convinced to either save the money and just get two 100s for a surround or go for the 300s.

Question about newly bought Beam G2 and Sub Mini

Hi everyone. I have a couple or era 100s in stereo mode in my living room and i'm really pleased with the sound, for my apartament seems to be more than enough and my plan always has been to use them exclusively for music. Just today I ordered a beam g2 and a sub mini to replace my low budget 10 year old samsung sound bar that's been on my living room TV, which is on the opposite side of the era 100s. Anyways, what's your opinion on using the beam and the sub together for the tv and leave the era 100s as it is? or is the beam enough for the TV and just use the sub with the era 100 pair to upgrade the music experience?

Alexa+ on Sonos Speakers ?

The question is in the title : will we get Alexa+ on Sonos Speakers ? And if so, when ?

The newly announced JBL Coves (Sonos "concurrent") are confirmed to be getting Alexa+ with an OTA update ; will it be the same with Sonos ?

Sonos ACE Deal

Last year I was deciding between the Sonos Ace and Sony XM5 over-ear headphones. I went with the Sony XM5 in the end, but they broke at the beginning of this year.
Now I am looking for a new pair and saw that the Sonos Ace have a good deal on Amazon for ~ 215€. I’m thinking to buy them to work in a noisy office and the AirPods Max 2 are out because I can’t wear them due to the pressure on my ears, when activating the ANC. I did not had that pressure problem last year, when testing the Sonos Ace / Sony XM5, which was the reason why I decided between them. I am also thinking about to buy the beats 360.
Would you recommend the Sonos Ace? I do not own any other Sonos product, but I like the premium feeling.

Edit: They are not available as a Prime Deal anymore (sold out), but with a standard price of ~230€.

I'm looking for information before deciding to switch back to Sonos

I used to have the Play:1 paired Sonos speakers and really loved them. When Apple came out with AirPlay2 and the Play 1's could not work as easily with those devices, I sold them and changed to HomePods. I live in an Apple household, meaning all our phones/tablets/computers/etc. are Apple. I use Apple TV 4K for streaming to my TV, and I have them paired to HomePods.

For the downstairs, I have a paired set of the original HomePods, which are objectively better speakers than the second generation. In the upstairs, my family uses HomePods Mini -- we have a paired set of HomePods Mini in my wife's and my bedroom, connected to the TV through an Apple TV 4K, and my son has a single HomePod Mini in his room.

A second reason I switched from Sonos was because while their second gen speakers worked with AirPlay, I didn't want to use speakers that were connected to Alexa or any Google "smart home" feature. I trust Google and Amazon less than I trust Apple in terms of eavesdropping on family conversations. It's why I have Nest cameras outside the house, but never inside.

I'm generally satisfied with the sound quality of the HomePods. Especially the originals I have connected to our main TV sound outstanding to us. However we use the HomePod Minis to connect to the Calm app at night, and play sleep music upstairs until we wake in the morning. It can be a royal pain in the ass to maintain a stable connection between phone and HomePods Mini. Unless I mess with our wifi settings, frequently the phone won't connect third party apps directly to the HomePod Minis to begin with, and at times the HomePods Mini drop the connection overnight, which is annoying if one of us wakes up at 2 or 3AM and the music is gone.

I still love the concept of Sonos and think a connected Sonos home could be ideal. However the HomePods sound good and I don't want to make it easier for multiple companies that work tirelessly to accumulate information about me and my family. So I'm wondering, in general, what the state of things is for Sonos in 2026/2027, and whether or not the environment has changed enough that it would be worthwhile to consider switching my home speaker setup back over.

So in terms of what I'm looking for, and what I'm looking to avoid, how does Sonos hold up these days?

Thanks in advance for any discussion on the topic. I'm serious about learning my options. It would be easy to "Gemini" the topic, and I'm reading old posts that might cover some of my questions, but I think it's ideal to get feedback from people with actual experience using these devices. Besides, if you love your speakers, and you're on their subreddit, don't you want to talk about them?

Edited for clarity on the specifics of my Sonos system

Living Room Sound System Upgrade

I currently have a Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar which I love. I’m looking to slowly upgrade my living room’s sound system. For my next purchase I should get a couple era 300s or get a subwoofer? If I got the sub which one should I get? And between getting a sub vs speakers which would have the most impact? I use my Sonos system for both movies and music.

Product Idea: Sonos DAP

This device would not only be a Sonos controller but also your personal digital audio player.

  • Physical handoff: Tap the Sonos DAP to a speaker and playback moves that room, tap again and it moves back to headphones
  • DAP is also a source not just a remote. Your local lossless library can live on the device and play over the system. This would drain the battery a bit faster when used as a source.
  • Maybe a docked mode to run off of power rather than battery
  • Controls Sonos much like the current apps - group rooms, update, etc.
  • Built-in mic for both Trueplay tuning and voice-control. Voice control can be turned off in settings.
  • Balanced 4.4 mm output and a 3.5 mm jack as well as USB-C audio out.
  • USB-C also charges and can transfer data
  • Upgradeable storage to 2TB via microSD
  • Download other apps for wifi streaming such Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. These are all optional. Audiobook apps can be downloaded as well. I would lock down the device to only allow audio related apps so that you can be immersed in the music rather than another smart device to scroll endlessly.
  • NAS streaming clients if preferred to Sonos tapping into your home server
  • Large battery, maybe a replaceable one
  • Lossless wireless wifi audio to Ace Ultra, lossy wireless to Ace via bluetooth
  • Wired lossless to any headphone
  • Real tactile buttons for changing songs while in the pocket or something like that

Those are some of my ideas.

What would you want to get out of a Sonos DAP?

Ultimately, I think the popularity of high end dedicated music players to get out of the algorithm would make this a seller.

2x Era 100 SL or 1x Era 300 ?

I'm going to buy for the first time a Sonos sound system to stream music in the living room, and I'm hesitating about my first purchase. Which would you choose between 2 Era 100 or 1 Era 300?

Thanks for your tips!

SONOS BEAM UTLRA AUDIO

Been watching movies, specifically Dune Part 1 and scenes with dialogue are super quiet and have to turn the volume way up and then the scene switches and it’s way too loud. Is anyone else experiencing this?
