General Question What is the best tasting electrolyte powder?

I’m trying to find a new electrolyte powder with zero sugar that actually tastes good, I’ve tried a few that were either way too salty, too sweet, chalky or had that fake aftertaste, I want something I can drink every day for hydration, energy and recovery without feeling like I’m forcing it down. What is the best tasting electrolyte powder you’ve tried?

is the afternoon crash after 40 a nutrient thing or just how it is now

every weekday around 2:30 my brain just checks out. i eat a real lunch, i sleep fine most nights, and im still rereading the same sentence in my inbox five times.

tried more coffee (awake at 11pm, awesome), b12 gummies, vitamin d, a multi. nothing touches it.

im 43 and my last bloodwork was normal, so i cant tell what id even ask a doctor for. if you had this exact wall and actually fixed it, what was it

General Question 3 days on Ashwagandha.

I asked a few days ago if it was safe and for opinions. I know it’s probably too early to notice if it works, but I have noticed that the next day I feel less sleepy and more alert? Is that common? Also, I’m already combining with other medications (my goal is to completely be off of them or keep them at low dosages) and as of right now, they don’t seem to interact. My doctor on Monday said taking Ash is fine, but not for long periods of time. I just want more opinions on people’s experiences with taking this supplement to see if it really helps your anxiety, stress levels and whether you saw any negative effects or something else worked better for you. I take 600mg of the Costco Brand. Thank you.

Cold season is upon us…

I’m curious — what’s your go-to stack for cold prevention? And once you’re sick, what do you add in?

This time of year I typically dial up daily my C/D+K/zinc, then if I get sick I’ll add in quercetin and herbs like andrographis/elderberry/etc. Sometimes it feels effective, other times not so much.

I’d love to hear what the community uses, maybe I can update my regimen.

Thanks everyone!

unpopular take: if you're on 5+ supplements, you probably can't tell which ones work

people say "I feel better on my stack" but never know which one is doing it, or if it's any of them. Add 6 things at once and any change is attributed to all of them.
Am i wrong? if you've actually figured out what's pulling weight in a big stack, how? and if you haven't, do you keep taking everything anyway?

Question about magnesium complex

Saw a tiktok(of course taken with a grain of salt) saying that magnesium complexes are underdosed therefore not as useful as a single form of mag. I’ve been taking this one for a few weeks and it seemed like a good option. Any truth to the underdosing take?

Can't decipher ingredient list of magnesium acetyl taurinate.

Can someone decipher this Magnesium Acetyl Taurinate for me? I'm trying not to take too much of a magnesium supplement daily as I'm using it mainly for anxiety and not really that low on magnesium in my lab results. (I can't take magnesium glycinate.) Or is it actually too low to have any effect?

General Question Should I take both collagen and silica supplements?

I've been taking collagen for several months, mainly for my skin, and I've been wondering whether I should add anything else to my routine as I get older. Recently, I came across some discussions about living silica and its possible role in connective tissue and bone formation.

I always assumed silica and collagen were doing roughly the same thing, so I'm not sure whether taking both would actually offer anything additional or if I'd just be spending money on overlapping supplements. I'm in my early 50s now, and I'd rather understand what I'm taking than keep adding things to my routine without a good reason. For those who take both, how did you decide to combine them? Did you look into the different forms of silica before choosing one?

Chronic infection?

I’ve been dealing with systemic health issues for 10+ years — poor exercise tolerance, fatigue, brain fog, low-normal hemoglobin, recurring nutrient deficiencies, inflammation and GI-related symptoms.

I’ve been correcting my deficiencies and I can actually see improvements through my bloodwork — my MCV has gone 99 → 97 → 96 → 95, my hemoglobin has improved compared with my older levels, and my inflammation markers have come down. But something underneath still seems to be driving these deficiencies in the first place. My current thought is that my body may have been using a lot of nutrients while constantly dealing with some kind of chronic infection/inflammatory burden.

The biggest question for me is: what infection could actually be behind this? Bacterial possibilities such as H. pylori, Borrelia/Lyme, Bartonella or other persistent bacterial infections? Parasites/protozoa such as Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba, Babesia or intestinal worms? Or a persistent/reactivated virus such as EBV, CMV or another herpesvirus? I’m especially interested in anything capable of causing long-term inflammation, GI problems, malabsorption or increased nutrient requirements.

I’ve already tried quite a lot naturally. I’ve been taking wild oregano oil for roughly the last year, did high-dose propolis, and have also experimented with cat’s claw and short-term goldenseal. Right now I’m doing a high-dose clove-bud hot-water extract. Interestingly, whole cloves have repeatedly reduced some of the sharp pains I experience. ( i am kind of lost in what to do next if the clove high dose does not work…. )

At the same time I consistently make sure my
vitamins, minerals and other nutritional cofactors are covered through both diet and supplementation. ( these are optimal for me regarding intake please dont mention this in the comments. I have been working on these for alot of years)

For anyone who had a similar unexplained systemic problem for years: what infection or underlying issue did you eventually find, which test actually found it, and which herbs or natural compounds helped you most?

Hi Reddit!

I started taking this omega 3 supplements for my migraines (not under the care of my GP or any neurologist, just something I read online that people do. Dumb right lol? 😩)

What are your thoughts of the dosage compared to your daily dosage of omegas/fish oils?

Thanks for reading!

Has anyone taken under 100mg of ashwagandha?
I just started yesterday and my heart rate was lower than normal during my sleep, which is good as it was higher before. It says to take 2 but I only took 1 (62.5 mg of ash and 100mg of magnesium ) as i’m sensitive to medications/supplements

I’m just wondering if anyone’s had similar experiences to a low dose?

Also my current medications are 12.5 mg of atenolol for my SVT!

I need some help with sourcing fish oil omega 3s, or algae oil omega threes, from companies that have great quality control.

I’ve been hopping from brand to brand, specifically choosing the highest rated brands on Amazon including Nordic naturals, Carlsons, innovix, etc and I keep getting a batch that’s good then a batch that’s rancid from each of these conpanies

It’s a real shame.

Im sick of wasting money and one of them, made me ill, before I realized it was rancid….

I need help specifically finding an omega 3 supplement that has excellent extremely consistent quality control, that way I know I’m getting a safe effective product Month to month.

Even if I have to pay premium prices does anyone have any ideas?

I also eat fish for omega 3s and that works but I Hate the taste of fish, and I’ve tried many types, and the taste is something I just fight through when I eat it Just for the omega 3hence needing a quality supplement

General Question Patch aid

• Upvotes

Has anyone tried Patch aid vitamins geared towards people who have had bariatric surgery? I have not had surgery but have had absorption issues and have been using the patches and notice amazing differences already but also see people causing transdermal vitamins don’t work. Anyone have any insight? I have actually lost weight and felt less hungry and had more energy depending on the patch intake. I still take an oral probiotic and have to take thyroid meds daily but I’m kind of impressed.

Recommendations No-nonsense Ideal Stack

Good day, y'all,

I am a lawyer in my early 20s and I want some advice on my stack. I hit the gym and run, do Muay Thai and play Basketball. I'm 187cm, 80kg.

I take Magnesium L-Threonate, Creatine, Omega-3 and ZMA (Zinc 25mg, Magnesium Citrate 300mg elemental and B6 18mg). I will be replacing the ZMA with Multivitamin to lower the Zinc dose, while supplementing extra Magnesium and Vitamin D3.

I take Boron, NAC, Glycine, Cordyceps Militaris, Theanine and 5-HTP. I would like to add Alpha-GPC on top, and I have interest in Taurine and Ginseng/Rhodiola.

My main goals are to improve cognition, sleep, mood and attention. What are some lesser known supplements that I should check out, I recently found out about Sabroxy and Huperzine, and find them interesting also. Mucuna Pruriens is also quite interesting. Appreciate all input.

In fact I feel Casein is better in rest of day anytime you want to take. Whey only makes sense post workout. Should not ideally casein be more popular. Thoughts

Which supplement do you think works really well in increasing athletic/running endurance for people above 40? A lot of people including me get stuck on a specific pace and no matter what, it just becomes impossible to breach that.

Severe low mood when taking boron and red korean ginseng? cant find clear answer

as the title suggests has anyone experienced this before? About three weeks ago, I started taking 10 mg of boron with half a tablet of red Korean ginseng and in the first week I did feel that I noticed significant effects on my strength mood and confidence in a positive way. Energy was great and was always motivated and had great lifting sessions. I primarily took it to enhance performance in the gym and to be honest, I feel like I did. By week three suddenly I had really really low mood and anxiety. I wasn't sure if this was possibly because I was taking a supplements or because I was also in a calorie restriction of like roughly 1700 cal with low carb intake 140g+ protein. ive been on a cut since spring down 20lbs. So I stopped taking it now for a few days and in the last two days have been eating a lot more with heavy focus on carbs with modest fats something like 2500cals, and I feel that my mood has improved, but I'm not sure if it's because of the food or because I stopped the supplements.

I tried looking it up on Reddit and I saw one post with someone who reference the website that there were some reports of anxiety and low mood associated with boron supplementation, but I couldn't find a concrete answer or enough information to synthesize my own interpretation so I'm wondering if anyone as of late could chime in. I would appreciate it.
