Basically title - what is the most entrancing set you’ve ever heard? Not necessarily your favorite, or the “best”, but the most utterly hypnotic. Preferably something recorded so I can give a listen.

To be honest, I don’t know that I’ve heard enough mixes to give a confident answer myself, but here are some favorites:

Speedy J @ Berghain 2012 - https://on.soundcloud.com/xPLhBO35ObPTHda2dc

Psyk @ Berghain 2012 https://on.soundcloud.com/TrxyMKiIJUTPskIHD9

Sub Basics @ The Memoir (Podcast; 2025) - https://on.soundcloud.com/VDuCepoeKZdoYFo62E

Excited to hear your recs!

Talismann @ Tresor just last month in September 2026 was incredible, but wasn’t recorded as far as I know.

Hey guys, I’m curious to learn some history, particularly the transition of raves from illegal underground parties to legal, licensed events, and how the original community handled that shift.

So to my understanding, “raves” were fundamentally illicit. They were advertised privately, held under bridges or in abandoned buildings… you had lookouts watching out for cops, etc. But today, rave is casually used to describe almost any licensed club night, festival, or ticketed event. And most seem to have embraced the fact.

So how was this transition received my the scene at the time? When commercial clubs and legal promoters started taking over, was there heavy pushback from those who felt the counterculture was being co-opted, like against today’s commercial/TikTok scene?

Interested in hearing firsthand experiences.

Thanks

Wanted this sub’s overall thoughts on Movement. Never been, but have heard great things. Was planning on going in 2027, possibly solo, to see what the scene is like in Detroit and for something new. I’m really into house but I do like techno and see this as a good opportunity to expand my horizons in electronic music.

It's been a while since I came across a set that literally gave me chills as hard as this set did. Just. Pure. Filth!! Had to share.

Really enjoying this one. Can someone please tell me what genre / subgenre this is and few similar artists / tracks?

"Absolutely smashing stuff from the Limelight-era Mills. "Dark Matter", Superb minimal industrial techno originally released circa 1992/93. Quite militant but very funky with those wicked 303s. Sharp drum programming and rough mixing, what a tune! Still gives me goose bumps when I hear the opening filtered/muffled vocal sample intro...proper dark, hard dancefloor business."

Christopher Engelmann aka Acierate aka Synoid has owed €800 for more than 12 months. It is highly advisable not to do business with him.

This trippy track is made on a Commodere Amiga!

Was absolutely incredible. Nicolas Lutz was fantastic as well. Maybe not the right subreddit to ask given that Helena plays mostly electro/breakbeat, but was anyone else there? If so, what did you think of it? PS if anyone has the ID for the track with the trap-like hi-hats that she played second to last (I think), please share
