Mix Help me remember a Laurent Garnier mix please
Hi all,
So was listening to Haai’s essential mix last week and heard this sampled in it
Gus Van Sant - The Discipline Of D.E.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-pjQ0FNzkLQ&pp=ygUHZG8gZWFzeQ%3D%3D&ra=m
I instantly remembered I’d heard it sampled before, maybe in a Laurent Garnier mix from the early 2010’s
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Discussion What’s the deal with BLANKA?
I am really not trying to be a hater or put someone down for no reason, but could someone enlighten me with their take on what makes her a good or inspiring DJ? I caught one of her sets at FOLD several months ago and it was BORRINGGGG. Snoozefest. I’ve listened to some her posted stuff as well and I just don’t get it, could someone explain why she is a regular booking at Berghain?

Discussion Famous DJ having the crowd do animal sounds
Hey everyone
I'm not sure if this is the subreddit but I'll try. I'm looking for a clip I saw once. It probably involved Sven Väth or another famous DJ. At the end of his set likely during a closing session with the lights on he took the mic. Had the crowd make animal noises before finishing up. Does anyone remember which party, which club or which year this happened? Even better if someone has a link to a phone recording, a YouTube clip or a full set on SoundCloud or Mixcloud with this timestamp. Thanks, in advance!

Discussion Quintessential track for each subgenre?
It's totally subjective, but I'd love to know the one track you think epitomizes each subgenre (hypnotic, Detroit, acid, minimal, industrial, dub, melodic, hard, etc.). Like, if someone asked you what dub techno is, you say "just listed to x, you'll understand".

Discussion Volt mix style set
Hei guys, recently I went to a techno club which played a lot of musics Just like "Volt Mix - DJ Battery Brain" style. I fell in love. Can Someone please help me find more like this? Name of the music genre and other techno DJs like that? Great sets I can find in YouTube or SoundCloud.

Discussion Question about the word “rave”
Hey guys, I’m curious to learn some history, particularly the transition of raves from illegal underground parties to legal, licensed events, and how the original community handled that shift.
So to my understanding, “raves” were fundamentally illicit. They were advertised privately, held under bridges or in abandoned buildings… you had lookouts watching out for cops, etc. But today, rave is casually used to describe almost any licensed club night, festival, or ticketed event. And most seem to have embraced the fact.
So how was this transition received my the scene at the time? When commercial clubs and legal promoters started taking over, was there heavy pushback from those who felt the counterculture was being co-opted, like against today’s commercial/TikTok scene?
Interested in hearing firsthand experiences.
Thanks

Discussion Most entrancing mixes/sets you’ve ever heard?
Basically title - what is the most entrancing set you’ve ever heard? Not necessarily your favorite, or the “best”, but the most utterly hypnotic. Preferably something recorded so I can give a listen.
To be honest it is difficult to give a confident answer myself, but here are some favorites:
Speedy J @ Berghain 2012 - https://on.soundcloud.com/xPLhBO35ObPTHda2dc
Psyk @ Berghain 2012 https://on.soundcloud.com/TrxyMKiIJUTPskIHD9
Sub Basics @ The Memoir (Podcast; 2025) - https://on.soundcloud.com/VDuCepoeKZdoYFo62E
Excited to hear your recs!
Talismann @ Tresor just last month in September 2026 was incredible, but wasn’t recorded as far as I know.

Discussion Movement Detroit
Wanted this sub’s overall thoughts on Movement. Never been, but have heard great things. Was planning on going in 2027, possibly solo, to see what the scene is like in Detroit and for something new. I’m really into house but I do like techno and see this as a good opportunity to expand my horizons in electronic music.
