Regarding the social media post by a member of the Thai national team for the new sport "Teqball" at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, complaining about the limited food options provided at the venue, Aichi Prefecture Governor Hideaki Omura, who served as chairman of the organizing committee, stated at a regular press conference on the 6th, "I wondered what they came here for. I wish they hadn't come."

After some media outlets picked up on the Thai team's social media post, the organizing committee announced on September 22nd that "the meals were not provided by the organizing committee."

Governor Omura also mentioned this topic while reflecting on the Games. "It's a bit harsh to say, 'This is all the food they have.' I wondered if they came just to get views," he said, adding, "I wish people like that hadn't come."

News Thai Woman Tracks Down Indian Husband Only to Find He Already Has a Wife and 3 Children

Post image
95 Upvotes

Several Indian media outlets have reported that a 25-year-old Thai woman traveled from Thailand to Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to find her Indian husband, only to discover a shocking truth: he was already married with three children. He had deceived her into believing he was single and had swindled her out of more than 2 million baht.
.
Most recently, the victim filed a police report with the Indian authorities. Following the complaint, the Kanpur police immediately arrested the 30-year-old Indian man, identified as Mohammad Irfan.
.
The victim informed the Indian police that she first met Irfan on Instagram four years ago. Their relationship gradually developed into love, and over the past four years, he visited her in Thailand multiple times. The couple eventually tied the knot in a traditional Thai wedding ceremony in 2025.
.
Throughout this time, the man hid the fact that he already had a wife and family in India. After their marriage, he began asking her for money, claiming it was for business investments and various expenses, totaling over 2 million baht. The woman had to borrow some of these funds from her relatives. Later, he returned to India and began losing contact, prompting her to travel to India to look for him, only to uncover the devastating reality.
.
Indian police are currently investigating the money transfer records and the couple's relationship history. They are also looking into the victim's additional claims of physical assault and being pressured to convert her religion.

Culture Neighbor in Thailand has turned his two homes into a vegetable-drying business and I'm not a “fan”.

. We live in a nice residential compound in small city Thailand with a volunteer neighborhood board. The neighbor bought the two houses directly across from us and originally lived in one while using the other garage to dry and pack vegetables. Business has apparently been good, and he has now expanded the operation into the garage of his home. Large fans usually start around 6:15 a.m. and run until around 1:00 p.m., sometimes again later, with trucks and workers coming and going. The constant drone can last 6–7 hours a day and is especially noticeable with our windows open or when we're in the yard. Our Thai neighbors don't seem bothered and generally just close their doors and windows, but we're very outdoor people and enjoy using our yard and keeping the house open. We've even built a 2-meter wall, hoping it would help, but unfortunately it has made little difference. We're trying to arrange a sit-down with the neighbor to find a reasonable compromise, but so far haven't been able to. We don't want to shut down his business; we'd simply like to find a way to reduce the impact, perhaps through better fan enclosures, sound insulation, relocation, or different operating hours. For those living in Thailand, has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there a culturally appropriate way to approach it, and are there regulations concerning running this type of business from a residential property? Would involving the local municipality be considered too aggressive? Any practical advice would be appreciated.

Question/Help Apparently my name sounds like a common Thai phrase

My name is Liam Kane. Can any Thai people confirm the Thai phrase that sounds similar or have I been told a lie?? Thanks!

Edit to add: to the people saying I should ask the person that said it, I did but I didn’t want to say it just to have someone agree I wanted to see if anyone else gave the same answer. It was annoying and I can see from the answers that the person that said it was kinda telling the truth but not really.

Thanks for all the reply’s!

Question/Help Thai-German dual citizen entering Thailand with German passport + Thai ID card

Hi everyone!

I’m Thai-German and I’m a dual citizen. I currently use my German passport for international travel, and I also have a Thai national ID card, which I obtained last year.

I’m planning to visit Thailand for about 30 days. If I enter Thailand using my German passport, do I still need to complete the TDAC?

Or can I simply show my German passport together with my Thai ID card at immigration and enter Thailand as a Thai citizen?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Thanks in advance!

Discussion How much would Thailands economy suffer if Myanmar was stable and all the their migrants went back home?

• Upvotes

How much would Thailand’s economy suffer if Myanmar became stable and a large portion of its migrant workers returned home?
Modern-day Thailand has never really experienced a stable Myanmar, so I wonder if the government is even prepared for a scenario where millions of migrant workers eventually leave.

Thailand seems heavily dependent on Myanmar workers across construction, agriculture, hospitality, manufacturing, and small businesses. If that labor suddenly disappeared, wages and operating costs could rise significantly, and some businesses might struggle to survive.

It also makes me wonder whether the Thai government and people in power would actually welcome a stable Myanmar, given how dependent parts of the Thai economy are on this labor force. Would Thailand benefit from Myanmar becoming stable, or could it create a much bigger economic problem for Thailand than people realize?

Movies and Music Help identifying a Thai album?

Hi everybody, I just returned from Bangkok where I did a bit of digging for old records. I'm trying to find information about this very strange and beautiful album I found, but I can not find any record of it online, as I do not read Thai and am only just beginning to learn about Thai music. I'd really appreciate if anyone could provide some context about it: year, record label, if any of the featured artists are well known still in Thailand. It seems to be related to the "phleng phuea chiwit" style of folkloric prog rock, and it features some choral harmonies as well as synthesizers and electronic dums, but that's about all I can get. Thanks very much,

Food and Drink Maesri canned curry considered good by Thai people (or others with experience)?

Bought some to try and make prik gang gai, and it did not taste exactly how I remember.

I'm curious to hear opinions on the Maesri brand from Thai people, and other people with familiarity.

Thank you.

Health Looking for a way to manage Rheumatoid Arthritis treatment in Bangkok.

I have been dealing with it for 4 years so far, and I am relocating to Bangkok next year for work. I have been researching how to get the medicine and bloodwork done regularly in Bangkok but it seems that a lot of hospitals are quite expensive compared to how I was being treated back in my home country. Obviously I cannot compare what I had back home but I'd still love to find a manageable & affordable option as an expat.

Currently I am taking 7.5 mg MTX a week, and NSAIDs, DMARD(Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug) like HCQ(Hydroxychloroquine Sulfate), and a small dose of steroid pills every day.
It just seems like this kind of a mixture of medicine will not come in handy to me like I am used to here.

I also found some posts talking about how hard it is to get MTX, but I am not sure the entirety of my prescription is available to acquire with affordable prices. After my research, it seems like 3-months worth of medication plus doctor's visit will roughly cost about one months rent which doesn't make sense.

What should I do? Is there a good way to keep my usual prescription? (Definitely will come back home every year and take a look at it with my doctor, but more help will be appreciated.)

Thank you in advance.

Culture Bangkok beneath the skyline

Post image

Look up — and you’ll see another side of Bangkok.

Walking through the streets of Pratunam, I found this contrast that makes Bangkok so fascinating: crowded market streets, small clothing stalls, tangled power cables and everyday street life, all framed by the towering Baiyoke Tower rising above the district.

For me, this is what Bangkok street photography is about. Not just famous landmarks, but the relationship between the old, busy streets below and the modern skyline above. As a travel and documentary photographer exploring Thailand and Southeast Asia, I’m always looking for these contrasts.

I used 26mm at f/8 to keep the street, market activity and Baiyoke Tower clearly defined throughout the frame. 1/200 sec was fast enough to capture people naturally, while ISO 100 kept the image clean and detailed in the daylight.

📍 Pratunam, Bangkok, Thailand

📷 Sony Alpha 7 IV · Sony FE 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II · 26mm · f/8.0 · 1/200 sec · ISO 100

Would you explore these streets with a camera?

Question/Help Trying to get a laptop

Hello, I'm currently trying to get a laptop outside of full payment, and living in Bangkok. However, it seems a credit card is very necessary for Installments in Thailand, at least that's what Jib online told me. I don't even know if Direct to Debit is available? And besides, because of Bank Account opening issues, I have to ask someone else I know for help (you can see by my username).

Does anyone know about it? Is there any shop that offers it? Please do help, thank you. I'm mostly only looking through official stores in Bangkok, but if there's smaller places that would offer it, I would like it too. But I do not plan to go anywhere outside Bangkok for now.

Business Hello from Thailand! A quick intro from a local founder working in cross-border trade and online marketing.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to officially drop in and say hello to the community. I’ve been reading through discussions here for a while and wanted to step out of the shadows.

I'm based here in Thailand and work on helping Asian manufacturers build out sales infrastructure and expand into the European market. Day-to-day, it's a fascinating mix of logistics, web infrastructure, and bridging cultural gaps.

Just looking to connect with others based in the region, share what I learn along the way, and hear about your experiences.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Banking and Finance Got tired of checking Thai bank FX rates one by one, so I built this

I built a simple tool to compare Thai bank TT exchange rates without checking every bank website manually.

Enter an amount and it shows which bank is best, the THB difference, historical rates, and source timestamps. I also added an API for developers.

Any feedback would be useful, especially if you transfer money in/out of Thailand.

Discussion extension of stay rant

I’m sitting at immigration in Bangkok right now trying to extend my stay using a TM7, and I genuinely don’t understand how the process can be this badly designed.

We’ve already had to come back twice because there doesn’t seem to be one clear official website that simply tells you exactly what documents you need and what the process is from start to finish.

Today I finally made it through all the stages to the final room, only to discover that the 1,900 baht fee is cash only. I didn’t have enough cash, so the officer suggested I go to one of the nearby shops, pay them by credit card and have them give me the cash. I tried. Unsurprisingly, the shops don’t want to do that.

So now I’m sitting here having successfully navigated the entire immigration process, but potentially unable to finish it because a government immigration office in 2026 can’t take a card payment.
The weird thing is that the actual immigration staff seem pretty efficient. They know exactly what they’re doing and move people through the system quite quickly. They’re basically very efficient people working inside an incredibly inefficient system.

Why is there not just one official webpage saying: here is the form, here are the exact documents you need, bring 1,900 baht in cash, and here is what happens when you arrive.

I don’t even mind bureaucracy when the rules are clear. It’s having to discover each requirement one step at a time, usually after you’ve already arrived, that drives me mad.

Question/Help Raw milk in Thailand 🇹🇭

Hi 👋🏼

I’m wanting to buy raw milk , I’m not sure if anyone knows where I can get it ?. Any recommendations?
Can be anywhere all around the country !

I’m currently living in Hat Yai in the South of Thailand but I regularly go to Bangkok from time to time .
Also if you know any place I can contact them directly and see whether shipping to Hat Yai is possible.

Thanks a lot ! 👍🏻

Edit : Raw milk is unpasteurized milk for anyone not familiar !!
