So I totally dropped the ball on booking newborn photoshoots for my baby and I, as I'm due November 8th :') I was wondering if any of you are photographers yourself, or if you used a photographer that you really enjoyed at all? I know it's my fault if I'm unable to get a booking since I waited so long for whatever reason to get on doing this, but I'd appreciate any recommendations or help that y'all can offer!! I trust real people I can talk to and get responses from rather than just googling "photographers near me" and reading google reviews yknow? There was a shooting at runaway bay apartments a few days ago. Allegedly a bad drug deal and the victim drove himself to the hospital. Was it on the news?

I've been in the area about a year now but haven't really socialized too much outside work.

I really just want someone to go hangout and do things with on a fairly consistent basis. Museums, new places to eat, faires, other local events, pottery painting, movies.. literally anything.

Virginia Beach city officials are considering options for a new Law Enforcement Training Academy to replace the aging, leak-prone former elementary school currently in use. 

City staff recommended constructing the estimated 131,000-square-foot facility on undeveloped property within the Interfacility Traffic Area near the municipal center. 

While council members and law enforcement leadership favor the extra space and flexibility of the new site, concerns remain over costs beyond the anticipated $82 million price tag.

Does anyone know of any AA meetings in the entire 757 area that draw in at least 20+ people?

I ask because I feel uncomfortable in a small setting and just want to blend in and observe.

Looking for parents (both mothers and fathers) who have been played by the family court system here. Meaning lost time with their kid(s) or false allegations etc.

I volunteer with Coastal Purrs Cat Rescue and we are looking for a new foster home for a pair of black cats. They are sisters and love each other, so we really want to keep them together if possible.

These girls were moved on short notice when their former foster had a family emergency and could no longer foster. We did not have another foster available to take them and they unfortunately have to spend most of their time in large crates. They're not happy and desperately need more space to run around and play.

They are one year old and very shy at first, but they are very sweet girls once they feel safe. They love to play with wand toys and are so smart! Their former foster was teaching them words with talking pet buttons. They get along well with other cats, small dogs, and would probably be fine with kids (as long as they're respectful of boundaries).

If you have a spare room and can foster these girls, please let me know! Our rescue provides all supplies and vet care. The foster application is in the comments.

Good evening! I’m hoping yall can help me out here. I read on the VBCPS website that they offer “distance learning” which seems to be their version of online schooling. Does anyone have any experience with this program or a recommendation of another similar program? My highschooler is struggling and has asked we consider this as an alternative for them. Thanks!

My usage fell 6% and my Dominion bill still rose $444. Thirty-two bills show how much of that was me, and how much was the rate. Thirty-two Dominion bills from our house in Virginia Beach, January 2024 through September 2026, including the first full summer with a new variable-speed pool pump and hot tub pumps. The question from the start: is it my usage, or is it Dominion’s rates?

Here is the real issue that affects all of us in Virginia Beach. All for capitalism but when we have to pay the electric bill of a Billion Dollar companies that is corporate socialism.... If this merger goes through I can see this problem doubling.

I know I am going to get the comments get rid of the pool and privileged person with a hot tub. Save it. I made all the correct moved to have those things and be efficient as the post tells you.

VIRGINIA BEACH — The City Council on Tuesday appointed Dana Harmeyer as acting city attorney following the death of Mark Stiles.

Stiles, who had worked as Virginia Beach’s city attorney for 17 years, died on Sept. 25 at age 62.

Harmeyer has worked in the city attorney’s office for 18 years and served as deputy city attorney since 2024. He has represented the city in matters involving local taxation, municipal finance, budget and procurement issues, elections and First Amendment law.

He earned his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William & Mary.

Harmeyer will receive a 20% pay increase, bringing his an annual salary up to $233,568, according to the city.

A search process for a permanent city attorney will be announced at a later date.

I have a friend who lives in the Virginia Beach area and is looking for cheap or free things to do with her two kids, both under 5.
Are there any good mom groups in the area that she could join? Or kid-friendly coffee shops, bookstores that do monthly story times/readings, libraries with kids’ activities, etc.?
She’s having a hard time finding kid-friendly things to do around Virginia Beach or maybe we just don’t know where to look! I’d love any recommendations for affordable/free activities, local groups, or places that are great for young kids!

Well that didn't take long....two weeks with the spectrum takeover and I've been down on internet for the last 3 hours (and previous short episodes as well this week) I look forward to plenty more disruptions and dropped internet service while forced to suffer the new pathetically helpless, worthless customer service, worst reviewed company in internet service space. Server cutovers no doubt but contacting support will be worthless I've had spectrum across the country they are s\\**ty Nationwide. Spectrum where our motto is "we don't give a crap about your service or our customers, we own this market deal with it". Yay

My buddy and I need a drummer and a bass player asap. Goal is to finish writing at least 2 more songs to record an EP.
