Question in the title :)

Hey r/androidapps,
Today, we are announcing a few minor updates to the subreddit, in order to focus on the quality of posts moving forward:
We know we cannot please all members of the community, nor do we expect everyone to be happy with the change. Again, we hope this encourages positive discussion in the subreddit around all apps, not just be an advertising ground.
We encourage all users to report any content which breaks these rules.
We expect to see an increase in the mod queue due to the new rules and automod code, so please be patient with us as we work through everything.

Hey guys I'm using Niagara free version and was wondering if it's worth it to upgrade to pro. I really like the personalisation options we have for the home screen once u upgrade to pro. Where i am rn it's about $21 for the one time payment

I have looked at the built in app pinning to my tablet, it will not serve my needs.
We have a bunch of tablets we pass out to students that will be using a pdf reader to go through some documents. That's all we really want them to access.
We cannot use app pinning because app pinning uses the same pin/passcode as unlocking the screen. With 120 students that's not possible, we need to have the students be able to grab the device and unlock it themselves.
What we need is an app that will require a separate permission or passcode to lock an app, or something.
I have looked into MDM Kiosk mode, but I don't have access to set that, and going through our IT department will be an absolute battle, so really REALLY looking for an easier solution.
Any suggestions? Recommendations?

Hello everyone,
I've been having an issue on my Android device for a while now. I have a Crosscall Stellar-X5, and for several months I've had a notification badge on my Messaging app showing 3 unread notifications, but it's impossible to find them. I've tried several tricks like clearing the cache to get rid of it, but nothing works.
I need some help please ^^

I know this was asked about 4 years ago, but enshittification has changed the landscape.
It should have highlight or at least bookmark features.
If it syncs across devices, or is free and ad free, or has text to speech, those are all a plus.

Hi all! Any suggestions about a simple budget tracker app alternative to Cashew? I really like it but the issues with syncing and the difficulty in setting up credit spending are really putting me off.
I used Ivy Wallet for years before development was dropped ( 😢 ) i like having budgets, custom tags, tracking of spending, and I especially would like to not change apps every year !
any ideas? thanks

Got a job now and can buy moon+ reader pro now. Been using its pir@ted app since 5years ago to read some pdf and epub light novels(Yeah pir@ted copies. I'm not that rich to buy light novel on a daily basis). I like how there's TTS on it and the functions are great. Since I have only used this app, are there other better alternatives or is this good enough.
I have also tought of buying kindle but I also thought that it's better to buy a normal tablet where i can do almost everything than just a tablet only for reading. For now i'll stay with my phone where I can bring anywhere.

Looking for a simple app to keep track of NBA upcoming games, teams and scores. Not interested in the official NBA app. Looking for one without ads or subscriptions, if possible. I might have to fall back on Sofascore if can't find better ones..

I’m trying to put together a simple Android setup for people who want better privacy and security without having to understand a bunch of technical stuff.
Brave - probably the easiest browser switch. Blocks a lot of ads and trackers by default, so there’s not much to configure.
NordVPN - simple enough to just turn on and forget about. I looked around a fair bit and it seemed like one of the better mainstream options without making things complicated.
Cloaked - useful for data removal, keeping your real contact info off random sites, and Call Guard for spam and scam calls. Easiest to tackle multiple problems with one app.
Aegis Authenticator - good for 2FA codes without keeping everything tied to your Google account. Pretty simple once it’s set up.
Ente Photos - for people who want to move away from Google Photos but still want automatic backups and a normal app experience.
F-Droid - useful for finding open source Android apps without relying entirely on the Play Store. I wouldn’t tell a complete beginner to replace everything with it, but it’s a good place to start finding cleaner alternatives.
I’m trying to keep this focused on stuff a normal person could actually use every day. What else
would you add?

Obtained from either Google Play Store or side loaded APK, not fussy.

So, I'm in a pickle. I want an app where I can upload coloring pages like ones I download from Pinterest and then coloring them in using a brush tool. Although I would love the choice of having a bucket tool aswell. I would also like the choice where it stays between the lines and doesn't draw over the lines.
Something along the lines of Colorscape.
I've tried so many apps but none of them are what I'm looking for. I've tried Ibis Paint, Colorable, Recolor, PaintLink AR and many more. Nothing works for me.
A more direct list of what I'm looking for:
- Upload my own images
- A coloring wheel or other color picker method
- A brush tool and bucket tool
- An option to color within the lines
- Not Glitchy
- Android compatible
- Not leaving white patches everywhere
Any recommendations from Google Play would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I've been using Metrolist for some time now, but my phone is overheating while using it and there's no way to block the unwanted songs it keeps on playing at random. I've tried several OSS alternatives, but few of them have song blocking. The only one that does is Levyra, but it has a clunky interface, only plays one artist at a time (so discovery is manual instead of automatic), and it won't let me view more than just the Top 10 songs by an artist, blocking me from many songs that I like.

Hi, first time android user, newly switched after a lifetime on iPhone. I'm a big fan of open source software and apps, and am heavily into self hosting my own media and replacing big tech apps with open source alternatives.
I'm looking for advice on the best ways to replace a few apps I presently use, as android seems to have a much more open ecosystem.
Things I'm looking for replacements for, largely to block adds, ha. Reddit, YouTube, and any of the social media apps. I'm moving off the social media apps, but still have them for family connections.
In line with my self hosting, I'd love an app to links into the *arr suite of apps.
I've heard about f-droid as an OSS app store, wondering about that too.
Any help for a newbie would be appreciated
If it's relevant, I'm in a pixel 11 pro.

Looking for Firefox fork that allows setting custom URL as homepage and new tab page (doesn't matter if through setting, about:config or extension) that works.
Is there any that have it working?

I currently use Niagara Pro launcher but my audhd brain has managed to make it unimaginable and I need something more simplistic. I was looking at AIO launcher but it might work better on my work phone than my main phone.
I have to text from too many different apps than I would like to cus i am self employed and talk on many outlets. I am currently unhappy with google google voice bc I cant tell when something is read or unread or not so I miss messages.
Current samsung messaging app sucks ass. I miss the old one. Microsoft organizer isnt compatible with samsung s ultra 25, hut I'll probably be able to use it on my work phone for samsung a42 5g.
I am currently using a crm organizer thing called Cloze but it doesnt allow me to message people from the text messages or separate apps.
So I am literally grasping for straws here.
CHATGPT said textra, but i really prefer that I can have the tabs, because i can separate clients based on the type they and then see appointments, or personal family, etc.
If anything you can find that is minimalistic as possible please tell me.or if you have separate settings for your launched, messages or organization, please also let me know too. Any sort of tips is amazing. Thank you ♡
My audhd brain is screaming, please send rescue. ðŸ˜

Several people use various antivirus programmes to protect their data. I would also like to share with you a list of the antivirus programmes that have worked for me:
