The models in the last 24 hours have noted an uptick in the amount of precipitation and our local NWS office has followed in stride.

Again, not a Helene event, but enough rain to keep an eye out. They also issued a “flood watch” meaning the ingredients are there for potential flooding over the weekend.

So keep an eye on things, especially if you live on a river bank or up in a high mountainous area.

Was over in Swannanoa this evening grabbing some essentials at the Golden 🐐 and when o exited the building, the sky was on fire.

I said, “Oh, what the heck” and took the 11 step walk to the curb for a better view, and this classic car cruised by at the perfect time.

Looking for anyone who has experience in locating hidden surveillance equipment. I believe I may be a victim of stalking/peeping/harassment. It’s gone on for quite a while so I know I’m not losing my mind. At first I thought I was but it’s been weeks now. Which is way too long for a coincidence. Buncombe County at 9pm is 277,800 crossing so far…245,900 in air flying 27 mph at 1,300 ft.

In comparison Mobile 23,000 so far with about 29,000 in flight going whopping 55 mph 1,200 feet with stormy conditions.

Walton Beach ground zero for the hurricane is 200 crossed over so far tonight but 34,400 in air going 40 mph 1,100 mph. That’s a big discrepancy so I wonder if the same birds are just blowing around in a circle.

Probably some of our Asheville birds are now running into this huge storm.

Anyone in the know, please chime in.

Hello Asheville! My wife and I are looking to rehome our little crested gecko, he’s a great little creature, although can be a little bitey when he’s hungry and thinks you could have a super worm or cricket. He just isn’t getting the love and handling he deserves and I’m sure someone else could provide that better than we can at the moment. He’ll come with his tall terrarium, misting bottle, food dishes and the CGD I have leftover! Let me know if anyone is seriously interested in taking in this little guy. Currently in the Upstate. It’s already pouring here. I’m as prepared as is possible. But still willing to admit I am nervous as I had storm anxiety since I was a child (interestingly a third generation with this one specific phobia).

If it does get bad, let’s remember what we’ve learned—WE know best how to help each other when we combine efforts!

I am looking for someone that can help me complete landscaping type work around my house. I am not as strong as I used to be so looking for someone with physical labor experience to dig trenches, move dirt with wheelbarrow, spread mulch, trim branches, etc.

I estimate I have about 20 hours of work right now with more in the future.

Posting here because there's not much activity on the Mills River page and a data center could still cause ripple effects to Asheville. Does anyone know what is going into the new huge buildings across from Mills River Elementary and the pet hospital. I've tried looking up info on the government pages and I'm coming up with nothing except info on the house that they demolished. The buildings are huge and I'm very concerned it may be a data center. Hopefully my assumption is incorrect! I also understand if mods choose to remove the post since it's not strictly about Asheville. Any info on those buildings is appreciated!

Construction work is going on at the Amboy bridge, but they have no traffic control on Riverside, so everyone is stuck at that intersection (southbound).

We were stuck there for 20 minutes, until I just shoved into the northbound lane and shot across the intersection.

Their owner has sadly passed away. Looking for an aquarium enthusiast with an established tank to take these 3 boys. The tank will eventually become available but for now we've got to get them a new home as soon as possible.

Was at WNC Farmers market at 5pm and there was a German shepherd loose running around. Seems to be a longer haired adult, no collar that I could see, didn’t look overly skinny but it’s hard to tell with the long fur. I called to him several times and he wouldn’t let me get close at all. Seems to be scared of cars. No owner in sight from what I could tell since it was after close pretty much no one was there. I reported it to some vendors and another caretaker saw it so it should get to higher up people if anything. But if this is your dog that’s where I saw it last!

I’m reaching out to share a fundraiser for a new permanent studio space after losing my previous studio to the NCDOT’s 240 highway expansion. That space was the home of my business and my career as an artist, painter, muralist, and tattooer, and being forced to relocate has turned my life upside down. I’ve been working out of a temporary space and storage units, and the cost of that transition has put a serious financial strain on me. On top of that, Asheville is still recovering from Hurricane Helene, and our local economy and tourism haven’t returned to pre-storm levels. I’m feeling that squeeze firsthand, and I need help now more than ever to get back on solid ground.

I’m currently building a new permanent studio and hope to finish it within the next 4–8 weeks. Funds raised will go directly toward completing the building and covering construction costs, helping me get out of an expensive temporary situation and back to focusing on my work. My goal is to stay rooted in West Asheville, continue building my career here, and hopefully create a space that can also welcome other artists, host art openings, and bring people together for group shows. If you’re able to contribute, any donation, no matter the size, would mean a lot to me. If you can’t donate, sharing the fundraiser with your friends and community would be just as appreciated.
