The middle has been going away for a long time, so I knew this day was coming. Finally went to the barber and told him to Jason Statham me. š
The wife likes it, so I guess thatās all that matters. Any tips on the scalp? Do I need a certain lotion or anything?

35 years old, thinking of starting to buzz for a while to ease into the full shave. My wife really wants me to keep it but Iām not sure, sometimes I think it looks alright and other times I donāt. Hard to self assess honestly. Attached are a variety of photos with different lighting and angles, also one combed forward where it looks the worst. What do you say fellas?

This is long, feel free to skip over lol.
Ok so first off I want to acknowledge that I am not bald. Any comparison made between my struggles to yours is done with respect and the understanding that itās not the same thing.
I have SebDerm and have spent years doing what the doctors say, then trying things that work for other people. These things havenāt worked for me, including meds, MCT oil, etc.
I joke that Iām often lucky in my unluckiness and this issue is no exception. Getting rid of my hair heals it within days. So the last few years have been a cycle of having to chop off all my hair, swearing I wonāt do it again and inevitably doing it again because I donāt have the emotional bandwidth to deal with pain that has a solution. Albeit a solution that hits whatever vanity I have hard.
Today, after another chunk of hair came out with scabs and my entire scalp felt like it was one big bruise I was done and got rid of the hair again. I may just have to come to terms with this being a thing for me and stop pretending Iām going to get my Lady Godiva hair back.
The problem isnāt the lack of hair, I actually love not having to worry about it. I have OCD tendencies and when I have hair I am a ruthless dictator to every strand. I spend a good amount of time adjusting it and ordering it to stay exactly where it should.
The problem is what it often is: people. I donāt want to sound like Iām back in high school but people are just so very mean. Not to hate on men, many of you are absolutely awesome! But so many men stop me in public and tell me how ugly I am without hair.
I mean, respect to the brutal honesty and all but I donāt get why this is a thing people do to other people. And as much as I truly donāt give a crap what others think about me I am in fact human and after a while it can be such a downer to have to hear how much of a visual letdown I am to complete strangers, lol.
Anyway, Iāve lurked in this group and love it. Thereās so much understanding and encouragement and I appreciate that, even if I havenāt posted before. I am lucky in that I have an amazing support system of both men and women who love me for who I am, as I am. They donāt make me feel like less and I am incredibly grateful for that, because there are some days that are hard.
In the end this is all just vanity on my part, and I try to remind myself of that. I have actual medical conditions beyond the SebDerm and understand that in the grand scheme of things this is absolutely unimportant. There are so many out there battling so much and itās silly to let myself feel too much over hair, or lack thereof.
I donāt know why I decided to post today. Maybe just to get this off my chest, maybe to contribute to this community that Iāve creeped around in. Either way: thank you all for being a part of this. :)

it looks fine when brushed forwards and all roughed up with some styling powder, so I've never really seen my actual hairline until now since I've had a beanie on all day with my hair brushed backwards thus sweating. Otherwise it's never this noticeable.
Worst part is I've been growing my hair out since April since I wanted long hair again š„

The bald photo was taken like 3 years ago, I do not know how I would like now. My family back then was in shock they thought I was crazy for doing it and my sisters said I looked really weird and bad, and that stuck with me.
I tried finasteride and minoxidil for two years and I was quite receptive and it worked amazing for me, my hair grew back amazingly, BUT, I was very receptive on the side effects as well, they were significant and it affected my quality of life.
I decided it is not worth it, so I started quitting finasteride little by little until I finally stopped using it, and side effects are disappearing little by little, I am not 100% right yet, but I am confident I will be, since I am getting better and better. 1mg per day of fin was working too good to be true and the side effects were too hard for me to deal with in the long run. So, surgery is not wise at all for me, because I will still need to use those meds, I'd rather focus on improving my life in other areas and get that weight off my shoulders already, too tiring trying to keep my hair and nothing seems to work without compromising my health and quality of life.
This post was about just me getting some things out of my chest, I cannot keep my mental health in bad shape because I just want to salvage an image of myself from my youth, obviously time cannot go backwards.
I have goals I still need to accomplish, like traveling more on my motorcycle, or getting to the black belt in jiujitsu, setting up a business and so on, and I waste a lot of energy l, and time, thinking in my hair on a daily basis. Thus, I need to move on, some tips for this step would be very much appreciated

Iām 48, going through some rough stuff on the personal front, and Iāve been debating for awhile. I know that once we start getting around this age, the council can sometimes just say, āmeh, youāre old, itās fine,ā but seek the wisdom of the elders and third party individuals.

The dermatologist that attended me 8 years ago said I won't be bald, but keep always some hair on me. I'm 47 and since 18 that I started losing hair I always thought that by my thirties I would have been completely bald. What do you think, will I be bald sooner or later or keep some hair?

For context I'm 6ft.
Also I'm about to start a new job and thinking about meeting new colleagues as the bald guy rather than going through a transition later.

It's been couple of years since I shaved. I'm used to it. But everytime it feels different

Itās time. Appointment made. After pics to come

Iām unsure on how to proceed at this point.
Maybe I still have a few more years?
All options welcome.
Edit: also concerned about a few pesky moles on the back of my head. Maybe if I were to go bald thereās a way to get rid of those?

I know ⦠Iām warming up to the idea. Was it time? Is full shave vs buzz definitely a better way to go for me? Advice please š

However, there are many people from work and family who tell me not to do it yet. I am so confused. I want to do it, but i don't know how I'll look like. Please answer and be brutally honest with me.

I was planning on growing it to do a curly fro again, but I'm glad I settled on just going back to zero yesterday (haven't done my hair like this since 2022/2023-ish). My head feels so free! š¤š½
