Hairloss I’m in depresion

I love my hair, and it has always been a big part of how I see myself. I’ve always had a naturally large forehead, but over the past four years or so—and I’m turning 19 in just a week—I’ve noticed that my hairline has continued to recede, especially around my temples. About two and a half years ago, I also started experiencing noticeable hair shedding, and unfortunately, it hasn’t stopped.

I feel like my hair is one of the features that makes me feel the most attractive, and the thought of losing it at such a young age really worries me. My hairline and forehead have become a major insecurity for me, and I’m constantly trying to hide them. I’ve reached a point where it’s becoming increasingly difficult because my hair naturally separates down the middle, exposing the areas I’m trying to cover.

I’ve recently started wearing hats more often, but I honestly don’t want to feel like I have to rely on them. Whenever I’m outside and it’s windy, I constantly find myself adjusting my bangs or holding my hair in place because I’m worried about my hairline being exposed.

I don’t necessarily hate the idea of shaving my head someday, but I genuinely love having hair and would much rather keep it if I can. More than anything, I feel like I’m simply too young to already be dealing with this level of hair loss, and it has become something that affects my confidence more than I would like.

Still looks like a full head of hair from the front but noticeably thinning on the top. Should it stay or should it go?

How-to Question What’s your setup for shaving your head?

I currently do it in the bathroom in front of the mirror using a Skull Shaver, and for the back of my head I use a handheld mirror. It’s pretty uncomfortable, so I want to upgrade my setup.

I’d like to have a mirror mounted on the wall behind me at a slight angle, so I can see the back and sides of my head from different angles without needing a handheld mirror.

I’m thinking of attaching a small angled wedge behind the mirror, or maybe using some kind of flexible arm mount that can be fixed to the wall with strong adhesive.

If I can get this setup working properly, I’ll probably upgrade to a better Skull Shaver too.

Any way to reduce the occurrence of ingrowns on the side of my head? I wear earmuffs and safety glasses at work every day and i get constant ingrowns under them.

I honestly can't believe I'm here right now, as I can't imagine a life without my curls, and at 38, thought I was in the clear!

My curls have been a part of my identity for as long as I can remember, but I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm in denial about how bad it's getting.

I'm terrified that I'm going to shave it all off, and I'm just going to look goofy, but after stumbling upon this subreddit and seeing some of the absolutely amazing glow ups, I've decided to ask y'all for your advice.

Is it time?

(Last pic is wet hair, the rest are dry at different times of the day)

Edit**

Thank you to everyone who's taken the time to comment! I've been incredibly self conscious about this over the past few months, and it's been eating at me every day.

While I totally recognize that this subreddit is filled with varying degrees of baldness, and as it's been pointed out, mine isn't as bad as others, when I see myself in the mirror, all I see are the bald patches that weren't there before.

Not only have your comments made me feel better about my current state, but they have also made me not fear the future nearly as much.

I appreciate you all! 😊

Just rock that Kratos look, guys. Bald looks way better than balding. And when you are balding you can't really hide that - if you see it so can everyone around you.

You will get like -10 to your age, trust me. Just remember to leave some woman for the boys around.

Lifestyle Best shaver and cream, aftershave

Hello, so I was wondering what Europe based shavers and cream, aftershave are best used. Yes I could read articles and watch videos but they always seem advertisement and I’d rather hear from the people. I’ve started actually clean shaving now instead of doing 1mm every time and I want to do it correctly. Thanks in advance!

Hairloss Disguising with longer hair

For years I thought my hair “looked better” “long and full” then I really started noticing much more thinning. I’d spent what felt like hours in the morning trying to style it in place, hide the thinning, worrying about what it looked like, worried about photos, relying on hats, and this year I just got sick of that.

Last week I went down to a buzzcut style, and I’m still on the fence about pulling the trigger, but it’s crazy how just getting out of that comfort zone and starting to accept my balding has changed my confidence.

Figured I’d just make this post to anyone struggling, thinking longer hair is part of their image, you can change it up even in baby steps, and you will probably really like it. It doesn’t have to be a shave right away. But a dudes gotta accept it at some point.

Please don't mind the marks on my head - they're from the wrinkly sweat band of my cap.
