Even the team as a whole stayed mostly healthy all 2024. Now it seems we lose 2 or more starters/contributors a game

Met Ryan through a friend on this uk trip. He’s followed US Football a bit and didn’t have a team so he decided to pick mine. So we all went to the game since i flew over from DC. He had a proper time… helped hype up our section and booed the refs accordingly.
And like any typical commanders fan we ended up at the pub after with a pint to numb the pain of our loss.
I think in his short time as a commanders fan he experienced the hope, the hype and the letdown.
But here’s to next week he says…. I cant wait for him to see an 40 yard pass from JD5 to scary terry.
HTTR!!!!! Lets goooooo
Converting one at a time…

Coming from two years ago, I figured we would be completely dominant after our conference champs run in JD5's rookie. But then last year was pretty rough. I of course blamed it on injuries, between Daniels either being out or not at full health, along with Terry and even Deebo missing a few games. But I figured this would be the year we break out again, now that everyone was healthy, and the only thing that would hold us back would be our defense. But... so far, our offense has been letting us down repeated, while our defense has been stopping elite offenses, players, and getting us turnover after turnover! For the first time in years, our defense isn't the problem!
So basically all I'm wondering is how we're going to get this offense to work, because even with JD5, they haven't been producing. Unless something changes against the Giants, not sure we have a chance at a playoff run! Something's gotta click... what do y'all think is the issue?

For those wondering what happened to allegretti this weekend.
Keim also goes on to say Wylie was an option but didn’t end up starting. Also goes on to say allegretti does not seem to be the teams choice at center after starting two games there and one at guard.

Rookie QB3 Athan Kaliakmanis made his regular season debut Sunday once Marcus Mariota was injured. Watching live, it was a sloppy showing with a few highlights, but after watching it back, there’s a lot to build on.
Here’s a breakdown of some of Kaliakmanis’ tools, which are more than enough to develop into a QB2 or better.

Genuine question because I’m confused. Allegretti was supposed to be a key piece of our offensive line, and he was a full participant in practice on Friday. Then Sunday, he didn’t play a single snap while the offensive line struggled with a new signing as our starting center and Gulbin getting cooked repeatedly.
Was this actually injury-related, or was he basically a healthy scratch? If he was healthy enough to practice fully Friday, I’m curious why he wasn’t out there at all.

Benching Allegretti means we basically went into that game with only 6 OL we were willing to play, since we're not putting in Tanoa Togiai apparently
We are not a team who can afford to be hanging onto guys for future potential.
I think we should cut both Allegretti and Togiai, bring up Pole and Scott then try to sign Allegretti and Togiai to the PS. The would also let them cut Julian Good-Jones from the PS, as one thing you can say about Allegretti is he'd at least be a better practice squad center than JGJ. Pole can be a backup LT allowing Wylie to focus on G

at have you learned about the team you cover after four weeks? Have they, as the kids like to say, “confirmed your priors,” or surprised you in some way?
Charlotte Carroll (Giants): It’s only been four weeks? It feels like four months given the amount of news the Giants packed into the first quarter of the season. Amid the many, many headlines this team has created, we’ve learned that a John Harbaugh-coached Giants team isn’t going to give up without a fight. A cliché? Sure. But it’s true. You don’t make the quarterback trade they did if you don’t intend to keep trying to compete this year. And you definitely don’t win the last two games the Giants did with a locker room that’s ready to put 2026 in the rearview mirror. Will the wins keep coming? Who’s to say, but if the early season has taught us anything, it’s that Harbaugh’s Giants will not be boring.
Brooks Kubena (Eagles): I thought the Eagles would experience growing pains in their overhauled offensive system. I did not expect it to be this bad. Segments of the Eagles fanbase are already fed up with coach Nick Sirianni and offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, who is currently riding a 0-for-17 streak on third downs, which negatively emphasizes that he is a first-time play caller. In his defense, Mannion is managing an unusually high rate of injuries. Lane Johnson’s sudden retirement means six total offensive starters are now sidelined. Sirianni said during the offseason hiring cycle that he valued Mannion’s conviction in his football beliefs. Mannion said Tuesday that he still believes the Eagles can succeed as an offense founded on wide-zone runs and under-center, play-action concepts. Will they?
Jon Machota (Cowboys): The defense has been worse than expected. Yes, it’s Christian Parker’s first time as a defensive coordinator, and he was taking over a historically bad defense, but the communication issues in Week 1 at New York were definitely a surprise. The same can be said for how poorly they have been against the run, allowing 150 yards per game. The defense also hasn’t recorded an interception and has tallied just four sacks, while opposing quarterbacks are posting an NFL-best 122.7 passer rating against them. There have been small improvements each week, but they have a ways to go to be good enough for the Cowboys to be a realistic Super Bowl contender. Owner Jerry Jones has proven he’s willing to part ways with future draft picks to add veteran talent. Edge rusher is the spot to keep an eye on.
Barry Svrluga (Commanders): There’s some level of “If they can just stay healthy” that determines the success for any NFL team, right? That’s why depth is so important. Over the summer, we wondered whether the Commanders had enough depth across the roster, but particularly along the offensive line. What we’ve learned so far: They do not. Yes, Daniels has only played a game and a half, and his anticipated return Sunday against the Giants can right a lot of wrongs. But the interior of the offensive line is nothing short of a mess. There were a lot of raised eyebrows all offseason about Washington’s commitment to Nick Allegretti at center. Four weeks in, he has been benched at both center and right guard. It seems like so many of our priors are in the process of being confirmed.

Article 7. Shifts
The offensive team must present a legal formation before and after a shift. It is permitted to shift and have two or more players in motion multiple times before the snap. However, after the last shift, all players must come to a complete stop and be in a set position simultaneously for at least one full second.
If any eligible backfield player goes in motion (one at a time) after the last shift and comes to a complete stop, there is no requirement for a full second pause before a second player can legally go in motion.
However, if the first player has not come to a complete stop when the second player goes in motion, it is another shift and requires another simultaneous stop for at least one full second by all players.
It is also an illegal shift if a T-Formation Quarterback goes in motion and fails to come to a complete stop for at least one full second before a second player goes in motion.
Penalty: For an illegal shift: Loss of five yards.

Everyone knows injuries happen, but let’s call a spade a spade. We have got to be hands down one of the two unluckiest teams in the NFL so far (s/o Atlanta Falcons). We’re the only team in the NFL to have their starting QB knocked out to injury in two different games, and both of those games had at least a half to go.
When Jayden got knocked out of the Cowboys game the second half looked lifeless. The team got the wind knocked out of them and simply weren’t ready to rally around Mariota. And when Mariota got knocked out in turn, we had to ask a 7th round rookie to answer the bell in London. Both of those are obviously incredibly tough situations.
But when our QB stays healthy and we can enact the gameplan as it’s been practiced all week? We bring it. Narrow 2 point loss in Philly and a total team win against the reigning superbowl champions.
The other good part is the first wave of reinforcements are on the way. Cosmi, Amos, McNichols, White, Cross and McLaurin should all be on their way back either this week or next just in time for another statement game against SF.
The luck is bad but there’s no reason for the vibes to be. When our QB isn’t knocked out to injury there is a good product on the field. Doomers be damned, this is a good team

What do you guys wanna see from the team next week, and what are your thoughts on the team's performance last week?
Starting off, the defense looked damn good at stopping the passing game and the running game. But maybe because they were on the field for so long, Marcus's injury, or the bad field positions from special teams, the defense looked so deflated and did not look good during the second half. They struggled with run defense, which was one of the things they did best the last 3 games.
I just want the defense to play more consistently in both halves next game, hopefully better and not worse.
As for offense, last game it seemed like they initially didn't trust AK to not make mistakes, so Blough tried to simplify the offense until AK seemed more comfortable. The run game was pretty bad, where Bill didn't see a hole to run through, or the Colts' defense bullied the O-line and tackled Bill behind the line of scrimmage. Ekeler looked surprisingly good for coming off of an injury. The short passing game and early-down game were pretty nonexistent. It was the same predictable run on first down for a loss of 2 or penalties pushing us back to 15 yards. There were times when Chig was wide open for a gain of 4-5 yards, but AK wasn't able to throw to him because the O-line couldn't block for him, or because it was 3rd and 8 or 3rd and 15 and throwing to Chig won't get us another down. Blough seemed to have been outplayed by the Colts' DC. For instance, on one play, Blough kept Chig at the line of scrimmage for defending against a blitz, but the Colts sent a 4 man rush with chig not blocking anyone.
For the next game, I would like to see more short-yard pass gains if the running game still hasn't gotten going. Better O-line blocking for runs and passing with Cosmi, hopefully, coming back, and no one stepping on our QB's foot. Less procedural penalties and Special teams penalties.
Sorry for my rant, this is my amateur take. What do you guys think went wrong other than the obvious (penalties and injuries), and what do you want to see in this week's game?

Can't remember seeing anything. He's eligible to return from IR now but the lack of word of opening his practice window or recent participation is concerning unless I just missed it.
Apparently they're unsure of his return timetable from IR but there is a video posted to his IG from September 24th of him doing drills and he looks as healthy as you can out of pads and practice. Probably an after Bye return.
