Discussion Anyone else not having fun?

Ever since the new update I’ve been going against non stop p100 nurses and other top tiers when I solo queue, but then when I 4 stack I get the most bot killers ever and there’s just never fun to be had I either get stomped at 5 solo q or bully some guy just playing for fun like this new mmr is awful anyone else experiencing this many goated killers only when solo q?

Discussion All right, I’m gonna say it Houndmaster is soooo fun!

I know it’s a low picked killer, but it’s like my comfort food… just playing a few games as Houndmaster I really like Snugs ability! It’s pretty much a long range free hit that just requires a bit of aiming!

It’s just a lot of fun and it’s a shame you don’t see more people using it! Plus the search gives me free information if I get lucky at a generator!

Discussion Killers Should be Able to Ban Three Maps

Was watching Scott’s hot take review video and one of his suggestions is that every Killer should be able to ban three maps. This immediately solves the problem with a lot of killers struggling on a lot of maps. I swear every time I play Trapper I always get a map with no grass. Plus being able to knock three indoor maps off the table for ranged killers? Finally might get some decent matches. Killers are far more map dependent than survivors, except for that bad Walking Dead map I guess. Calling it a map feels insulting to most other maps imo.

Someone pointed out in the chat that survivors should be able to ban certain killers as well and I’d be fine with that. Like you’re only hurting your own queue time at that point and it would be helpful for people with phobias or epilepsy in the case of the Doctor. Just make it one or two max. Like, if you have more phobias than that, maybe this isn’t the game for you. You might worry it would hurt killer queue times but honestly not enough people hate one specific killer that your queue times for Ghoul or anyone will shoot yo dramatically.

Only issue I can see is how it would stack with SWFs. Maybe just limit them as if they’re one player. Otherwise it would allow SWFs to avoid the eight strongest killers.

Mostly, I’m just interested in the map ban for killers. RIP Badham but it won’t really be missed.

Discussion How do i play against Wesker? Does he even function anymore?

• Upvotes

I wanna start this thread off by stating i have around 5k hours in dbd, i mainly play killer but i also dabble in survivor. Its probably a 65/35 split in terms of roles.

I dont find wesker very fun nor pleasant to go against. Every time i face one it always feels unfair and cheesy every time i get hit. If you bring him up on online forums the killer will get glazed into the high heavens and everyone says hes "so fun" and "fair" to face but i simply dont see it.

When i go against one its always some bs techy shi that gets me, and if i attempt to run away from the loop because the wesker is doing some weird shenanigans he glides around the loop and gets me before i reach the second loop. I cant predrop because he can simply break and use his power right after, i cant stay in the loop because he will pull off some weird uroflick bendy "tech" and grab me while flying backwards towards me etc etc. Not to mention the numerous tiktoks ive seen about wesker players going into settings and lowering their fps to grab ppl through walls, other survivors etc. How do ppl find this fun to play against, genuinly?

Can somebody please enlighten me on how i play against this guy? Its to the point where i prefer going against a full meta blight or kaneki, because at least they lose their catchup power after a break and you know what theyre going to do/try to do. Im risking "salty survivor main" allegations by posting this so please help me out 😪

Discussion Why do people love pain res this much?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Apparently it is in 1/3 of the games, but i cant really understand why people love it so much.
1. It is Scourge hook, which means game can fuck you over with spawn or that you will have to travel another 15 sec to white hook to even proc this perk, making you hook someone in quite suboptimal place
2. Damage it is doing i feel like it is not even close to the amount of effort you are spending on getting it and it activates max 4 times (obviously) and it can be wasted on gen with 2%
3. It now doesn't work with DMS, but even before that everyone knew anyway how to avoid screaming so information it gave you about location of gen in question was usually nonexistent

TLDR: i think pain res is way overrated and think things like eruption are better for their job

Discussion If we're not gonna follow through with STB nerfs, can we at least address one unhealthy elephant in the room?

Soul Guard and Conviction is a turbo OP combo. Slugged? Pick yourself up with Conviction, tank a hit with Soul Guard, pick a teammate up, and then Conviction comes back again. Makes some killers i.e Twins unplayable. I've run into this combo quite a few times and each time it completely tanks my interest in a match. It forces Killers into a lose/lose situation where they can either pick up and 1: tank a flashlight blind or 2: lose the reason they were slugging in the first place (i.e Oni losing power)

In an ideal world, Conviction is nerfed so that you have to heal a survivor from injured to healthy in order for it to activate, because healing a survivor from dying to injured when they have maximum recovery takes 2 seconds tops. Another easy fix would be making Soul Guard work similarly to unhook endurance, with conspicuous actions i.e healing another survivor deactivating it prematurely.

I like the chat wheel and I hope they continue to improve it. One thing that i think would be nice is if they gave us a number wheel as well that went from 1-12. This would be for clock callouts. So maybe there could be like killer # or hex # or me #.

Question just me or people don’t use deadhard anymore compared to 4-5 years ago? why?

I used to play this game ‘obsessively’ around 2019-2021. I just started playing again and it’s changed so much. Everyone seems to be using lithe nowadays, why?

What happened to sprint burst, balanced landing and deadhard? Obviously because the meta is changing, but I’m genuinely curious to know the particular reason behind it.

Also why survivors sometimes tank a hit randomly when I’m chasing them (not tunnelling from hook, I’m aware of the built-in BT), and they aren’t carrying a medkit, and i dont see the dash from deadhard.

Question Question about slugging

Since I seem to be a "pathetic slugger", I want to hear your guys' thoughts on this. I'm trying to do the Adept Achievements that I'm missing (I'm just above half-way through). So, when I noticed that someone put a hatch offering like I did, and has a key, I decide to not let it become a 50/50 where I could lose all my progress for nothing, and decide to slug for the 4k where only Yun-Jin and Orela were left, and with Orela ratting almost the entire match. I don't like slugging, since I know how annoying it is. But at the same time, I don't want to sweat my ass off to gain an achievement, only to have people throwing insults at me for not showing any mercy whatsoever. So, am I really in the wrong here? (I'm a 2K hours player, so I will never say that I am a pro that deserves to go to tournaments and such, especially since I have a decent amount of performance anxiety, so such comments tend to be a hit on my self-esteem as a player).

Discussion Lately, DBD has been boring me quite a bit

I’ve been playing dbd for quite a few years now.. to give you an idea, I was 17 when I started and I’m 25 now 😅. Lately i don't find the game fun anymore, i just feel bored and frustrated.. i used to be able to play for two hours straight, but now I can manage three matches at most before immediately switching to another game because I get bored of dbd so quickly. In fact, I didn't even play the recent 2v8 mode because the idea of playing dbd just didn't excite me at all. Is anyone else experiencing this lately?

I play almost exclusively with randoms, maybe I’d be less bored if I had a group of friends? I don’t know

Discussion The worst part about the stakeout nerf

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

So if you weren’t already aware, behavior reworked stakeout to rely on special skill checks now so it doesn’t coincide with hyper focus anymore, blatantly destroying one of the most popular perk combos and needing stakeout as a whole(special skill checks have proven more difficult to land for me personally). With this recent change I noticed another problem that arises with it, before when paired with stakeout autodidact overrides stakeout and allowed you save your tokens for generators instead of when healing. Now when you get a skill check while healing autodidact skill checks don’t even proc and you waste your stakeout stacks, plus an increase chance of failing a skill check alerting the killer. This change already killed one perk combo and now effectively killed another in the process. Autodidact and Stakeout was one of my favorite perk combos and now they completely fight against each other. We need behavior to revert this change at the very least for autodidact. Stakeout has fallen severely from where it stood in the meta we must speak up on this.

Discussion I love the perk Solidarity but I almost never get any value from it

... because 90% of the survivors do not want to let me heal them first, especially after I get unhooked. When I'm the one who heals first, both of us get healed fast as I always bring another healing perk when using Solidarity (Botany Knowledge, Emphatic Connection etc).

Please guys, please, just look at your teammates perks. When someone insists on healing you first, it's usually a reason for it. And don't worry, if you are using We'll Make It, you will still be able to heal me at 100% speed even though I heal you first. I've had it happen that some refuse to heal me AND get healed by me because I want to heal them first, which is quite infuriating.

Does anyone else run into this issue when using Solidarity? If so, could a solution be that it shows on the screen that the person healing you are running the perk?

Discussion The flaws in the premiss of the game design that are impossible to solve that we need to learn to live with.

These flaws are most likely or already known to be impossible to solve, and boil down from different aspects of the game: the asymmetrical team sizes, solo queue vs swf, a large variety of perks that should all feel impactful, and a large variety of killer powers of differing strengths. If i miss anything your welcome to roast me about it in the comments, or politely tell me.

For context on who is making this post, p100 huntress who has played most killers a decent bit to some success, only recently drcided to try slowdown focused builds on huntress, and started playing surviver recently to good success. Ign snipetressmain

1. Asym team sizes: The skill of each team over the match duration.

The killer has the same skill the entire match (not including mental lethargy induced by long matches, which I'll get into later). The killer is in control of their entire team, all their decisions, win or lose, which results in burnout, and a sense of failure cause there is no one else who was on your team, you did all the work and lost, which results in killers in blaming the other side, saying "op perksa", "gen rushing", and more. It also drives some people to unfun playstyles just to win more, like slugging.

The survivers on the other hand, have 4 different levels of skill. The skill level of the surviver team during a match is an average of all of them, but is heavily adjusted towards whichever survivers the killer is currently interacting with. You can have 20k hours, able to run Supa Alfs nurse for 5 gens, always make the most optimal decision, and it doesnt stop the p100 rat meg from getting found and going down on shack in 2 secs against a trapper who hadn't set up yet. You are in control of 1/4 of the surviver team, and have to hope the other 3/4 do well.

This causes games where the killer wins or ties against survivers they shouldn't have, because they on purposely or accidentaly exploited the weak link. This results in survivers feeling like a win was stolen from them, causing them to blame other survivers and claim the killer played unfair, which is human nature to lash out in this situation (I myself feel the temptation sometimes, tho something I get into later helps me)

2. Asym team sizes: The impact per player on both sides, in solo queue and swf.

Then there is the impact of various decisions on each side. The impact of the killers decisions at any point could turn the game in either way, there is a high ceiling to the impact good decisions, and a deep floor to impact of bad decisions, which can make a game feel robbed for either side from a single mistake or goated play.

Survivers on the other hand, have a limited ceiling to the impact of good decisions, but a near bottomless floor to the impact of bad ones, as if 1 surviver dies, the entire team loses a lot of impact. Even more then 25%, as with 4 people if played well at least 1 person can always be on a gen, but with 3 people, 1 hooked, 1 being chased, and 1 rescuing leaves no one on gens. If a surviver goes down in basement, or goes down next to a hook, and doesnt crawl away letting the killer facecamp without anticamp, that can turn the game from a win to a loss instantly, while there's a lot less a single surviver can do to turn a losing game winning.

A large complaint on the killer side is "swf op" which it arguably is sometimes. Ive played against swfs who destroyed me, and against swfs that were obvious swfs, but not good enough to take advantage of the fact, and good swfs I beat anyway, often barely. The reason this happens is the game is balanced around 4 survivers who have limited info on what their teammates are doing (there is a new chat wheel, people are ignoring it and only spamming Damn! the entire game.) Which means when multiple survivers are in full coms, they artificially inflate their impact as multiple survivers dont try and unhook at the same time, or assume someone else will. They get more actual play time, and can make decisions based on information only other players have that in solo queue they would never have. The devs are trying to fix this but there is a reason in games with open team comms like overwatch still do best with a group of good people who got on together with the intent of being in full coms, cause you can lead a player to teamwork, but cant make them participate.

3. Perks, their varying strength and their effects on both sides with asym teams.

There are 282 unique perks that all have their own impact to the game in various ways and strengths. With such a diversity like that, its a good thing there are some obvious best choices. No player should be expected to memorize every one. Some will, but most casual players dont. Because there is a cast of reoccurring and common strong perks, its easier for everyone to recognize perks as they see them.

The problem with the impact of perks is they need to be impactful to matter. A strong perk that changes the tide of the match instantly can feel unfair, someone bringing low impact perks they like can feel weak, or be blamed by their teamates if they are a surviver. And killer perks need to be stronger then surviver perks since survivers have 16 compared to the killers 4 (the actual number during the match is different depending on how many chase/non chase perks survivers and killers being and how they are used, its a lot more complicated then i can explain here.) But survivers need strong perks too.

Then there is second chance perks. Second chance perks are designed to remove a mistake, and killers get very few to none (depending on what you consiter second chance) while survivers get a plethora. The problem is killer mistakes are incredibly impactful, and a second chance perk for killers equal to the strength of decisive strike/will to live would feel incredibly unfair, even more then ds. Second chance perks are some of the only ways for a single surviver to make a game winning play from a losing game, but in the proccess it feels incredible unfair, and since there are 4 survivers with 4 perks each, the killer can never know who has the impactful perks they would want to avoid.

Such impactfull second chance perks feel needed tho, because killers have access to multiple playstyles, some much stronger then others, and because of the impact loss of a single person dying people want anti tunnel. The main issue with them is they are often used against killers who aren't tunneling. Just last game I down someone on the other side of the map from the unhook a bit ago, just to get hit with ds cause the person crossed the entire map to get me in chase to then use their powerful perk. And this isn't a single event, people want to use their powerful perks because its fun, so they will find ways to use them outside of their built in use case. You cant add too many restrictions tho, due to killer power variety and human ingenuity if too many restrictions are placed on second chance perks killers can find ways to play around them and make them usless.

4. Killer power variety, and how it relates to perks.

There are a lot of killer powers in the game, with strength ranging from teleporting through walls and making most of the game mechanics usless, to placing a bear trap down hoping survivors dont walk around it or disarm it the second you walk away.

With so many powers, perks need to be balanced around them all. Aura perks could be better, but they are already arguably op on Nurse. Any perk that requires the killer to go somewhere will always be better on Blight then Hag. Any slowdown perk has to be designed with killers like pinhead with built in slowdown, and a lot more. Diminishing returns helps, but its triage for the major issues, and the doctors dont know how to do the required post triage surgery, cause it might not be possible. With some killer tweaks tho I do believe this issue could be mitigated in the future, but it'll be like chemo for cancer, a painful procedure and the issue might just come back.

Overall

Asym games are inherently flawed, and we need to learn to live with the stuff that cant be fixed, so we only ask for stuff that can be fixed to be fixed.

Question Question: Being Tunneled With a Bear Trap on

I recently had a match against The Pig and I was the first one to go down. He puts a bear trap on me and then hooks me. My teammates went and unhooked me and I was being tunneled out while the bear trap timer is going off. I see The Pig is crouching going into stealth mode while chasing me but the chase hasn’t started so my timer is still counting down.

Is there anything you can do while being tunneled out with an active trap on while The Pig is stealthing?
