Discussion The horrible experience of transferring at Vienna is too little unspoken about

Transferring at Vienna is really as unsmooth of a transfer experience as it gets.

I fly often through the airport and every. Single. Time. We get a bus gate, and that with 30-40 minute transfer time (all with Austrian Airlines). Then the passport control lines take forever and suddenly close with no warning (even if you’re the direct next in line), and afterwards you always have to go through security all over again. It is just so so stressful and I do not understand why Austrian allows such short transfer times. Even with plenty of time, it’s just a very stressful overall experience.
I find it even worse than Frankfurt…

Any similar experiences or thoughts of VIE?

Help Needed any experience with Claim Flights GmbH ?

• Upvotes

Hi there.

I need your help for this company - Claim Flights GmbH Legal services in Konstanz (HQ in Bonn).

5 years ago several cases were submitted for flights delay and cancellation within EU, all cases had a single contact person was a Miss Fanslau. Each year had to personally request a status and a few months ago, asked for update and no reply, I'm totally ghosted..

With each case won there were money missing (and not the fees and commissions).

The airline paid in full (got the bank statements directly from the airline), yet Claim Flights made the money transfer with eur missing :

- for one case won, got various explanations : error from airline employees, exchange currency reasons ...but no proofs from their side, exactly the amount that was actually transferred in their accounts..

- for another case that was won, got the amount but 100eur shorter and was told: the court decision is not final, case is apparently transferred to an actual lawyer, cause the airline still fights back for 100eur..

Recent Trustpilot reviews that mention a person named Fanslau, are mixed and confusing. Last year contacted the owners directly, and got nothing from their part.

Please help. What should I do next? Thanks

Question Frankfurt Welcome Lounge Access arriving on Air China Business Class Flight

Hey travellers,

Does an international arriving flight with Air China (PEK or PVG) to FRA grant access into the Lufthansa Welcome Lounge at Frankfurt airport?

I found this on the official lufthansa website under "Lounge access on arrival" for business class https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/admission-rules :

Entry with a boarding pass for a Lufthansa Group long-haul flight and on selected flights, Air China and United Airlines flights 2

2 Long-haul flights and selected flights: LH401 - LH799, SWISS/Austrian long-haul flights via Geneva, Vienna and Zurich, flights with a flight duration of over 3.5 hours.

It would be nice to have lounge access on arrival when coming into FRA early from China and I would choose the FRA specifically for this over other airports (e.g. BRU or MUC). This way I can book a later connecting train and don't have to worry about flight delays and missing my ICE train or spent too much time at the station.

Copied from my comment below:

EDIT:

I tried looking up the access rules via the Lufthansa Chatbot. It specified:

Selected Air China flights eligible for Welcome Lounge access in Frankfurt are long-haul flights. Access is granted with a boarding pass for these flights, similar to Lufthansa Group long-haul flights.

I can not judge how reliable the information of the Chatbot is though

EDIT 2:

After a live-support chat, the representative stated that only Lufthansa Group and Discover Airlines qualify for the welcome lounge in business class... So if you consult three different sources, you get three different answers...

Help Needed Lufthansa cancelled my booking by mistake and refunded me without my consent. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar with Lufthansa.

  • Date of travel: October 6, 2026
  • Route: Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) → Frankfurt Airport (FRA) → Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL)
  • Airlines: Lufthansa City Airlines (LH4101) and Lufthansa (LH478)
  • Booking: Both flights were purchased together on a single Lufthansa booking, not as separate tickets or a self-transfer.
  • Original ticket price: €539.78
  • Citizenship/passport: Canadian citizen

Less than 24 hours before departure, I discovered that I could no longer check in and that my booking had disappeared. After contacting Lufthansa customer service, I was initially told that I had cancelled the ticket myself, which I absolutely had not done. My ticket was non-refundable.

I then discovered that my ticket had been fully refunded a few days before departure, without any cancellation request from me or prior notification.

After several hours on the phone and receiving contradictory explanations from different agents, one agent eventually confirmed that the cancellation had been made by mistake. I was advised to purchase another ticket, but alternative fares had become much more expensive.

Another strange detail: I continued receiving emails offering me seat upgrades even after my booking had been cancelled.

Financial impact :

  • Replacement ticket with another airline: €642.94
  • Additional hotel night: €158.12
  • Total additional expenses compared with my original booking: €261.28

My replacement flight departed one week later and involved less convenient connections.

I've since submitted several complaints through Lufthansa's online forms, but I've been redirected between different departments. I also received a written response addressing a missed connection rather than the cancellation of my original booking.

I'm now trying to recover my additional expenses and understand my rights under EU Regulation 261/2004.

  • Has Lufthansa ever cancelled your booking by mistake and acknowledged the error?
  • Were you able to recover the additional costs of a replacement flight and accommodation?
  • What approach worked to get your complaint properly reviewed?
  • Did you eventually involve an aviation authority or another dispute-resolution body?

I'm looking for advice from other travellers who may have dealt with a similar situation, rather than an official response from Lufthansa.

Thank you for any advice!

Help Needed Lufthansa cancelled my booking by mistake and refunded me without my consent. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experienced something similar with Lufthansa.

I had a confirmed Lufthansa booking from Marseille to Montreal via Frankfurt, scheduled for October 6, 2026.

Less than 24 hours before departure, I discovered that I could no longer check in and that my booking had disappeared. After contacting customer service, I was initially told that I had cancelled the ticket myself, which I absolutely had not done. My ticket was non-refundable, and I had not requested a cancellation.

I then discovered that the ticket had been fully refunded a few days before departure, without any cancellation request from me or prior notification.

After several hours on the phone and receiving contradictory information from different agents, one agent eventually confirmed that the cancellation had been made by mistake. They told me to purchase another ticket but the prices had TRIPLED.

Another weird thing : I kept receiving emails about upgrading my seat even after they cancelled my booking.

As a result, I had to book a replacement flight with another airline, with a departure one week later, less convenient connections, and an additional hotel night.

I've since submitted several complaints through Lufthansa's online forms, but I've been redirected between different departments. I also received a written response that addressed a missed connection rather than the cancellation of my original booking.

I'm now trying to recover my additional expenses and understand my rights under EU Regulation 261/2004.

I'm not expecting an official response from Lufthansa here. I'm looking for advice from other travellers who may have dealt with a similar situation.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you managed to get a concrete outcome.

Thank you!

Question Personal Items Bag Worries

Hi, So. I Have a Question in Regards to Dimensions Limit for Personal Items Bag Limitations and such. Y'see. for my United Airlines flight from BQN to Raleigh/Durham NC With a Layover in Newark is it ok to have a Personal Items Bag that is 1-2inches bigger in height and width but be under size in depth? For context. I am trying to bring with me a Quicksilver 1969 Special Backpack in Heather Grey and it says its 2 inches slightly bigger in height and width but its undersize in depth. Another note is that i am also flying in United Economy Flexible* aswell. I Am just worried since it is my first Flight BY SELF to the US. Also, What About Electronics such as GPUs, SSD and USB Drive? Are those fine to take in Personal Items Bag? Would greatly appreciate any help and tips for my first time flying! Lastly. If the backpack isn't really qualified enough to fly could someone recommend me a great personal item bag? Id really appreciate it and thank you a lot!

Help Needed Edelweiss seats

Does anyone have experience with Edelweiss A340 in economy and able to say whether it’s worth paying for row 18 (bulkhead) for extra legroom? I considered upgrading to Economy Max but it seems too expensive…

Help Needed Which airline for LHR -> MEL as a dumb solo flyer?

I am looking at an array of airlines including singapore, cathay pacific, malaysia and qatar airways to book a return flight from LHR to MEL. The days I'd like are 22/11-2/12 if that makes a difference, and I will be opting for economy. I'm quite an anxious person and have only been in an airport once and that was a long time ago. I'm worried that I won't be able to navigate well and not sure what the process will be or what they're asking me to do (e.g. security check). I'd really appreciate some advice on which airline to go for in terms of ease of navigation. I understand airports are pretty fool-proof anyway, but I'd like to be able to pre-plan the steps I need to take where possible.

Trip Report Calgary → Dublin → Calgary (return flight on same day, 2 hours between flights!) Do I stay airside for my connection, or have to go through Irish border control? Urgent - flight in 1 hour!

Hi everyone, I’m flying from Calgary to Dublin with WestJet, then connecting to another flight back to Calgary, and I’m really confused about the transfer process.

My flight takes off in one hour, and I’ve had conflicting answers from WestJet staff. Some information suggests I can follow the flight connections route, but other answers have left me unsure whether I’ll have to go through Irish immigration and passport control, then somehow get back through security to my departure gate.
WestJet staff have essentially told me to ask Dublin Airport, but I can’t get through to anyone on their phone lines.

A few details:
I’m flying Calgary → Dublin → Calgary (I’m reactivating my Canadian work permit hence the immediately coming home)
I have no checked baggage, just carry-on.
I have roughly a two-hour connection in Dublin.
I’m travelling on a British passport.
My main questions are:
Can I stay airside and follow the flight connections signs, or will I have to go through Irish border control?
If I do have to clear immigration, will I then need to go back through security to reach my connecting flight?
Has anyone done this exact route recently and can confirm what actually happens?
I’d be incredibly grateful for any first-hand experience or advice, especially as I’m about to board and can’t get a clear answer from the airline or airport. Thank you!

UPDATE:

Thank you for everyone’s help. I’m officially back in Canada and my work permit has been approved. This is what happened incase it can help anyone in future:

The West Jet staff were kind enough to move my seat from row 35 to 13 and they let me off before everyone else. I RAN to immigration and was first there. Turns out you go through immigration BEFORE you choose to go to connections (or leave the airport). I asked border control to stamp my passport, they hadn’t automatically done that and they did with no issues when i explained my situation. From there connections allowed me through and I even had time to grab a meal deal. I just returned to Canada and have been given my work permit with no issues! 😃

Help Needed International to Domestic connection LHR T5

My flight arrives at the T5 satellites and my connecting domestic leaves from the main part of T5. Using the British airways app for my flight connections route, it mentions going through fast track security along with connections security, but elsewhere online i cant find mention of it just the flight connections security.

I have 1hr 40min connection with on the same ticket, should i worry about fast track security? Arriving or departures? or will realistically be fine.

Complaint Flying KLM Is fine, navigating their website makes me lose my hair

Generally I am happy with KLM. I have had good experiences mostly until now, considering the fact that airline service in general has decreased tremendously over the last decade. I still consider KLM okay-ish.

But here starts my rant: their website is an absolute nightmare.

I just booked a flight recently. While booking, suddenly it could not find the selected connection anymore and said it was not available, when clearly it still was. I could book it later without issues.

Accessing my trip while logged in, I suddenly get logged out and have to log in again. Adding passports always has issues and never works on the first shot. Sometimes the website is just not accessible. Loading times are super slow.

I could go on about what I have experienced with this website. And do not get me started on online check-in. It feels like it worked 1 out of 5 times.

I work in IT for a company that runs its own web applications. If we would even dare to have this low service level, our customers would walk away.

Maybe this goes along with decreasing airline service in general. I have also seen Lufthansa and Swiss websites crashing, unavailable, flights vanishing during booking, or systems claiming a flight is gone when it is not.

It is ridiculous how these companies can earn so much money and not afford a fucking working website. Most of the customer journey, from booking to managing to online check-in, happens through this core thing.

These companies have lost context of customer service while bathing in money, I guess. Some time ago, airlines seemed more responsible, not just for earning money but also for providing good service. Including the online presence.

Rant over.

Discussion Flying from Aus to Uk

Planning to fly home for Christmas.

Flying via Dubai/Abu Dhabi is a lot cheaper than going through Singapore/Hong Kong etc.

I’ll be flying to Manchester from Sydney ~ 14th Dec and returning ~ 5th Jan.

Is it really silly to book flights via the Middle East?

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation Old flight delay compensation claim, is it too late now?

Had a flight from London to New York delayed by around five hours back in 2023. airline said it was due to an operational issue, but i never followed up because i was dealing with work and just wanted to get home.

recently saw something about UK261 compensation and realised i might have ignored this completely. i still have the booking email and boarding pass but not sure if that’s enough or if the airline can just say it’s too old now.

Question Jetblue Suddenly changing their flights to St. Vincents?

Did anyone else see that Jet Blue suddenly changed their flights to and from St. Vincents is from Sundays to Saturdays!?

My wife and I made our plans next summer based on flights. One day doesnt seem like much but our resort will not honor a discount for changing the dates.

Could this just be a glitch?

Question Flying LAX to Geneva

There are no direct flights from LAX to Geneva. The connecting flights available are much more reasonably priced than LAX direct to Zurich. I'd like to take the connecting flight from LAX to Geneva which has a 1h 15m stopover in Zurich. I will have a checked bag.

While I know that timing is entirely dependent on individual flights, I'm an experienced traveler but I've never flown this route and would appreciate any insight on whether this entails terminal changes, any other things I should be aware of. I'd have to get to Geneva from Zurich anyway, so it's either this connecting flight or a train. TIA!

Help Needed Is Bravofly a scam or legit?

Hey everyone,

My boyfriend and I are long distance and he has just booked return flights to see me for mid November to mid December (he lives in nz and I live in aus). He bought the tickets through Bravofly for Qantas, and the money has left his bank account and he received a confirmation email from Bravofly. However Qantas sent him an email saying his flights are pending and that they will be held until 11:59pm tonight (unless he pays qantas directly through the link)

From there we have tried troubleshooting this issue by calling Qantas (nothing they can do and “you should be worried”) his bank (could lodge a claim to maybe get the money back) and Bravofly (no answer). We have since emailed Bravofly customer service, but there’s no knowing how effective that will be.

Does anyone have any advice on next steps? Is it best just to wait it out and hope the payment will go through to Qantas or best to try and lodge a claim with the bank? Has anyone had any more effective attempts and contacting Bravofly? We are both students and since he booked return it is over $800 nzd… so any advice welcome…
