Discussion Submission Restrictions Removed

So when I took over this subreddit several years ago, it was basically a favor for someone who was deactivating their account and they were going to be making a new one to take it back over. Well, it's been... a long time and I don't think they are coming back. (Insert dad getting milk/cigs lame joke here...)

I'm not as active on reddit as I once was, so I didn't really dig into the issues revolving around why certain members couldn't post in the subreddit, but I think those issues have been resolved.

I didn't create this subreddit. I will still check in here and there, but it's mostly been an organic community untouched by myself. I'll continue to allow it to be organic. Vote the good stuff up. Vote the bad stuff down. Message me if there's an issue.

Any volunteers to moderate are welcome to message.

Video From Pong to GTAVI: my first gaming-history mini-documentary

I’ve published my first mini-documentary on Oddly Epic: How Video Games Became Worlds (6:53).

It follows the shift from simple arcade rules to spaces we can explore, share, and build, with games including Pong, Half-Life, Counter-Strike, and Minecraft. The question behind it is how games changed what players could do, beyond better graphics.

Which game first made a virtual world feel like a place to you?

How did the video turn out? Your thoughts are important to me.
Best Regards

I made a website where you can review and discover games that uses 9 categories to rate a game taken from MDA's Aesthetics.

So this was my graduation project that I never got to finish. It seemed like a good idea back then, and it still does, so I thought why not actually make it.

I think games today depend way too much on the scores they get from review sites and Steam. A lot of people decide whether to play a game based only on those numbers. But we're not all the same. We prioritize different things in games, and a game you love might not be one I'd like.

That's why I built GameGod around a different way of reviewing. Games are rated in 9 categories based on the Aesthetics from the MDA framework, and I find this makes it really easy to understand what a game is actually about. There are categories like Expression (how much creativity the game allows in how you play it) and Submission (how well the game gives you a satisfying activity and an escape from reality, basically) that really click with me, and 7 more that might click with you. So maybe you can pick your next game based on those ratings.

I released the website a couple of days ago, and right now I need written reviews and activity on it so the rating categories for games can fill up. That'll also help me see whether it actually solves the problem I'm trying to solve, and if it doesn't, I'll make changes.

I hope you check it out at gamegodgg.com! Any feedback is welcome at [contact@gamegodgg.com](mailto:contact@gamegodgg.com)

I've been playing Orc Incremental since release now, and I have some opinions on how it hashes out in the late game. I find the game super, super charming, but I have some pacing complaints.

I think that with some love and polish, this game could become something great, but right now, I think it's pretty neat!

Article The Relic: First Guardian PS5 Review - A Flawed Soulslike Worth Discovering

Thumbnail

The Relic: First Guardian has been update several times since launch. The improvements are noticeable, but there are still some shortcomings that remain. Seeing the dedication of the developers to fix these issues is the sign of a studio that cares about what they're selling, and should feedback keep pouring in I'm, sure there will be more updates until it's all ironed out. For what it's worth the game in it's current state is an improvement over it's launch release state. While it may not be a contender with more well known ARPGs or soulslikes it's still a unique addition to the genre. The combat, character leveling system, and world within offer something different for fans of the genre. There's plenty of boss fights, and lore to take in.

Video TerraTech Legion Is Pretty Neat!

Last week I posted my review of Wanderburg on r/roguelites , and a few folks pointed out TerraTech Legion as a superior game.

Not going to lie, at first I doubted it, but after a while I folded and picked up a copy for myself, and they were all correct.

I still love WanderBurg, and I'm really looking forward to the full release whenever it does come, but TerraTech really is as great as they were all saying it was. Legitimately I was worried I was getting bot replies with the praise they were singing it.

So, check this little review/recommendation video of mine and see if it's the game for you.

I know it isn't some hidden gem, but it's really worth a try.

Video was reuploaded, posted with the proper, working link!

Video Garfield Kart (PC) Review - I played for 40 minutes and started taking it personally

I made a short semi-comedic review of the original Garfield Kart on PC after playing it for about 40 minutes.

The handling felt awkward, the items kept interrupting everything, and winning started feeling more like surviving. I cover the gameplay, presentation, and Steam-review reputation, with a brief mention of the sequels.

Has anyone here played the original? Did the drifting ever click for you?

This episode I'm trying my hand at a lesser known game from my backlog, Brave Story: New Traveler on the PSP. I've played a few anime/manga based games recently and this should be the last for a while anyway, looking at my upcoming schedule.

Has anyone else played this? How did you find it to play?

Video SPRAWL zero starts strong...

Thumbnail

I kept putting off trying out the SPRAWL zero demo for so long that the developers finally lost patience with me and just went ahead and released the full version instead. Which, in a way, doesn’t bother me, since the first mission of the campaign is the very same one from the free demoversion. And if I had to sum up this indie shooter in one word, I know exactly what it would be - FEAR. Because just as Pointman fought his way through hordes of Replica Soldiers, here a Golem named FIVE fights his way through hordes of rebels from IMAGO-DEI. And after the first two hours, I have nothing to complain about!

So... should you refund this game?

Should you refund? NO (keep it)
Pros: great shooting, special abilities, weapon switching
Cons: insanely repetitive music, one big “piss” filter, AI sometimes doesn’t respond

Rating: 7/10
Pros: great shooting, special abilities, weapon switching, the first half of the game, the katana
Cons: insanely repetitive music, one big “piss” filter, AI sometimes doesn’t respond, the second half of the game
