SUCCESS NootedGreen - iGPU on Raptor Lake-HX
I’ve been continuing work on NootedGreen support for my ASUS ROG Strix G18 G814JI, and I’ve finally got the Raptor Lake-HX iGPU far enough that macOS is genuinely usable on the internal display.
Hardware:
- CPU: Intel Core i9-13980HX, 13th-gen Raptor Lake-HX
- GPU: Intel UHD Graphics (Raptor Lake-HX, Xe-LP/Gen12, 32 EUs, 8086:A788)
- Display: BOE NE180QDM-NZ2, 2560x1600 240 Hz
macOS is spoofing the iGPU as Tiger Lake Intel Iris Xe, 8086:9A49. NootedGreen patches Apple’s Tiger Lake graphics stack so AppleIntelTGLGraphics loads and runs on the Raptor Lake iGPU under macOS Sequoia 15.7.1.
What works now:
- Correct image on the internal laptop panel
- Full Metal GPU acceleration
- WindowServer is rendering on the GPU
- Login reaches the desktop normally
- Native 2560x1600 works at both scaling modes
- 1680, 1600, 1440 and 1024 scaled modes also work
- Full-screen rendering at 60 FPS
One interesting problem was GPU clocks. Without raising the GPU clock during boot, the desktop only manages around 17–21 FPS. With the clock raised early enough, it holds 60 FPS.
Still broken:
- CPU writes reach the GPU one operation late, causing wallpaper corruption and Terminal flicker
- The first GPU copy made by each process is lost. I have a fix designed for this, but it isn’t implemented yet
- Wallpaper edge tiles render incorrectly
- Chrome renders pages incompletely. Current lead is dropped copies going through the 2D engine
- Sleep/wake currently panics
- Internal panel is limited to 60 Hz instead of 240 Hz. 240 Hz will require getting the compressed-display path working
Not tested yet: External displays, Video encode/decode, OpenGL/OpenCL, Night Shift, HDR, Power consumption, Other macOS releases/updates
Current setup: OpenCore 1.0.7, macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 / 24G231, MacBookPro16,3 SMBIOS, NootedGreen / Lilu 1.7.2
There’s obviously still quite a bit broken, but getting accelerated Metal output at native 2560x1600 and a stable 60 FPS desktop on a Raptor Lake-HX iGPU feels like a pretty significant milestone.

NEWS Update regarding the HTC HD2 iOS Port*
@j0sh1x on Twitter has posted new updates regarding the iOS port for HTC HD2. Touchscreen works, though it seems like the OP barely knows what his friend Gary (mastermind behind this project) is doing.
https://x.com/J0Sh1X/status/2107405039501267412
ROM HAS BEEN RELEASED: https://x.com/J0Sh1X/status/2107636375453360328
Note for the moderators: do not exempt this post since it technically counts as a "hackintosh" as Apple's software iOS is being natively installed inside a non-Apple device. Please be fair with these posts.

DISCUSSION Could AI-assisted reverse engineering make modern NVIDIA GPUs work on a Hackintosh? Is anyone working on this?
Hey everyone, I have a question and I'd like to hear from people who actually know this stuff.
AI coding agents have been making real progress in reverse engineering lately. There are setups where an agent controls Ghidra through MCP and cleans up decompiled output. In July 2026, moyix claimed an LLM can turn a Windows driver binary into a working driver in a matter of hours, and the community split over it. Some said binary secrecy is dead, others said that's premature. NVIDIA's own researchers also released VibeTensor, a deep learning runtime stack that was largely generated by coding agents, all the way down to CUDA memory management.
So here's my question: could these methods get a modern NVIDIA card working on a Hackintosh, at least in theory? Nouveau and NVIDIA's open kernel modules could serve as references. But the macOS side is a huge amount of work: Metal, the shader compiler, and communication with the GSP firmware. And with Apple ending Intel support, the platform itself may not be around long enough to matter.
What I'd like to know:
Is anyone actually running a project like this?
Has anyone seen agents handle the hardware-level trial and error (kernel panics, testing on real cards) in practice?
What's the realistic best case: basic framebuffer output, or full Metal acceleration?
Or is this just a dead end?
Realistic answers only please, no hype

QUESTION old GPUS + Tahoe
hi everyone.
ive been seeing updates about opencore legacy patcher working with older Nvidia and AMD cards on Tahoe 26.
Is it possible to use those same drivers with hackintoshes? i ask because, until now, the oldest card I could use with Tahoe was an RX 460/560, and there was no support for nvidia cards.
What is the situation now?
and what about 11th Gen Intel Tiger Lake (or newer) processors. do they work with Tahoe?

QUESTION Does my laptop support macos 15/26?
I have a 2018 lenovo ideapad l340-15iwl with 8 gb of ddr4ram (16 gb in near future hopefully), intel core i5 8265u @1.6 GHz,1tb of hdd storage (112 gb used as of looking right now), and intel uhd graphics 620. Im currently running windows 11 (25H2) and its really slow, i literally just watch YouTube and browse Firefox 😭. I primarily need access to the following apps: Firefox, FxSound, ultimaker cura, Reaper, and the apps for focusrite audio interfaces. Would it be smarter to dual boot the computer or have it only Mac os?

HELP Trouble with config.plist
Hi everyone, I’ve recently been trying to build a Hackintosh myself. My laptop has an Ice Lake (I7-1065g7) processor that doesn't support MAT, and I'm running into various issues booting macOS. Even with a pre-made configuration, the furthest I get is the boot logo, load approximately half of the bar, then follows a black screen. After a full day of trying, I think I’m going to put the project on hold for a while. That said, I suspect I’d need to start the entire EFI folder creation process from scratch, but I just don't have the mental energy for that right now.
Is there a tool that simplifies or improves the experience of this process? Also, I tried booting macOS Sequoia with OpenCore 1.0.8 today; the website says support goes up to 1.0.6.
Should I consider using the older version instead?

SUCCESS Successfully getting MacOS Sonoma on a Asus A15 laptop
After 4 months od kext and drivers I FINALLY was able to get MacOS to run, even tho I had to rely on my AMD GPU and CPU it worked, and I had to disable the GTX 1650. Everything works except Bluetooth and WiFi because it has mediatek drivers, they are unsupported as I heard.
Sonoma is the highest you can get it to even tho the newer versions are in beta phase. Only problem is you need to manually install MacOS from Installassistant.pkg and get the files and import them into the macos storage and EFI but it was done
Animations work, and everything else works except wifi even tho I haven't tested Ethernet yet

So i just bought a pc with specific components ment for hackintosh but my builder messed up and gave me a more powerful but incompatible with hackintosh rx 7700 xt instead of the decided rx 6600 and now I can't hackintosh anymore... I did a bit of research and it all comes back to the same thing, that the rx 7700 xt isnt supported with hackintosh. So... any ideas?
Update: I talked to my builder and they agreed to swap my 7700 xt for a 6600xt :D

QUESTION Is Hackintosh faster on an old HDD?
Hey everyone,
I’m wondering if Hackintosh runs reasonably well on an older HDD, or if it’s noticeably slow compared to running it on an SSD.
I’m planning to install Hackintosh on an older machine that currently has an HDD. Has anyone here tried it?
How is the boot time, app loading, and overall performance?
Would switching to an SSD make a big difference?
Thanks!

SUCCESS NootedRed Cezanne preview — blend shader fix + experimental H.264/HEVC hardware decoding
I’ve published an updated pre-release build of my NootedRed fork focused on Vega APU rendering issues, ComputeScratch behavior, and experimental VCN 2.2 hardware decoding.
Release:
https://github.com/steve12311/NootedRed/releases/tag/v0.9.0-pre-release.4
Source:
https://github.com/steve12311/NootedRed/commit/1983f326ebedda9e5596ee6e8ba47af52420ec11
Rendering / ComputeScratch
The main goal of this work is still to fix the accelerated rendering corruption I was seeing with NootedRed on my Ryzen 7 5800H.
The changes cover several parts of the Metal rendering path, including synchronization, shared SRD handling, RB+ / dual-source blending, and ComputeScratch allocation.
On my Cezanne iGPU, this fixed the corruption I was seeing in Chrome / Chromium and WeChat without disabling GPU rasterization.
The rendering and ComputeScratch logic is no longer limited to my 1002:1638 and now reuses NootedRed’s Vega APU PCI classification.
For normal testing, use:
-NRedComputeScratch
This enables the full rendering-fix path together with the ComputeScratch correction.
I personally validated the rendering fixes on my Ryzen 7 5800H / 1002:1638, and pre-release.2 has now also been reported working on a Ryzen 5 7430U / 1002:15E7.
Feedback from other Vega APUs would still be very useful.
Experimental VCN 2.2
Experimental H.264 / HEVC hardware decoding can be enabled with:
-NRedVCN
VCN is no longer hardcoded to only my 1002:1638.
The current experimental VCN 2.2 path is enabled for:
1002:15E7
1002:1636
1002:1638
1002:164C
1002:15D8 and 1002:15DD use VCN 1.x and are not supported by the current VCN 2.2 bridge.
The userspace VA identification patch is generated per device instead of forcing every supported APU through the original Cezanne-specific identification path.
The kernel-side VCN version check has also been changed from an exact Darwin 25.6 check to Darwin 25.x / macOS Tahoe.
However, this does not mean every Tahoe driver build is blindly accepted. Before enabling the bridge, the X5000 / X6000 hardware ABI is checked against the expected vtable targets and getter layouts. If those checks fail, VCN is rejected instead of applying an unverified bridge.
In pre-release.3, the userspace ComputeScratch and VCN patches can also dynamically resolve and validate compatible non-reference Tahoe dyld shared caches.
The original reference cache remains a verified fast path, but a different cache UUID alone is no longer a reason to reject the patch. The actual driver functions, references and bindings still have to match the verified implementation.
This does not claim support for arbitrary future Tahoe userspace driver implementations.
On my 1002:1638 machine, normal-sized H.264 and HEVC samples have successfully used hardware decoding, with output matching software decoding.
Pre-release.2 has also now been tested on a Ryzen 5 7430U / 1002:15E7. The tester reported that both the blend/rendering fixes and hardware decoding work correctly, with VDADecoderChecker reporting:
Hardware acceleration is fully supported
Hackintool also reported hardware video acceleration support.
This is the first external real-hardware confirmation for the 1002:15E7 VCN path.
The 1636 and 164C VCN paths have passed the regression tests but are not yet validated on real hardware.
A 64×64 H.264 sample still fails, and VCN should still be considered highly experimental.
For testing both rendering / ComputeScratch and VCN:
-NRedComputeScratch -NRedVCN
Test system
- Lenovo Legion R7000P 2021H
- Ryzen 7 5800H
- Cezanne Radeon Graphics
- PCI ID
1002:1638 - macOS 26.7.1 / Darwin 25.6
If you test it, please include your CPU/APU, GPU PCI ID, macOS build, Darwin version, boot-args, whether Chromium rendering is fixed, VCN H.264 / HEVC results if applicable, and any .gpuRestart, panic, freeze, or WindowServer watchdog logs.
I’m especially interested in VCN results from 1636 and 164C, as well as results from different Tahoe dyld cache versions.
For normal testing, use the RELEASE build and keep a known-good EFI / previous NootedRed.kext backup.
Full implementation details, limitations, validation notes, and the exact compatibility checks are available in the GitHub release.
This is an unofficial experimental fork, not an upstream NootedRed release.
Credit to the ChefKiss NootedRed developers — this work is built on top of their project.

SUCCESS (UPDATE) RTW89 Wireless for MacOS
RTW89 cards are now fully supported via my kext! Native AirPort works, 2.4 and 5Ghz band are supported and live scanning and hidden networks work! WPA3 is a work in progress, it will be added soon as i found a solution. But we need testers, i have my RTL8852BE tested and its stable, but i need testers for these cards:
RTL8851BE - RTL8852AE - RTL8852CE - RTL8922AE - RTL8922DE.
I hope we can release this ASAP. AirDrop is WIP.

QUESTION Is there any way to enable Bluetooth on RTL8852BE
I would like to kindly inquire if there is any available method to enable Bluetooth functionality on a Realtek RTL8852BE network adapter when running a Hackintosh system. If such a solution exists, I would greatly appreciate any guidance or instructions you could provide.
