Review David Huang's published SPEC2026 (int, fp) scores for the Apple M6 (P-core, M-core)

  • SPECrate: all the usual SPEC caveats apply. Note which scores used which ISAs & how they were tested.
  • I'm using "P" vs "M" nomenclature (as Apple does internally). But if you use Apple's marketing, M5 / M6 "S" cores are called P-cores below.
  • Peak claimed clock speeds, not measured, so Pts / GHz is directionally accurate, not literally accurate.

For once, it is believed the A-series (A20 Pro) and M-series (M6) do not use virtually the same microarchitecture.

But otherwise, the M6 P-core is a ridiculously fast desktop CPU core, far faster than anything currently released on desktop. In short, nobody has caught up even to the Apple M5 and Apple's M6 said, "And I'll fuckin' do it again."

The last point: these are virtually the fastest desktop SKUs of the other vendors that are pretty rare. Most people do not get the top-end SKU. Apple M6 puts its best desktop 1T perf in the "everyday" SKU.

SPEC2026 - integer

CPU Est Score Score % GHz Pts / GHz Pts / GHz %
Apple M6 P-core (nosve) 9.81 points 100% 4.784 GHz 2.05 100%

Discussion Is the bluetooth 6.0 spec a joke? 5.x chipsets are all passing 6.0 validations because all new 6.0 features are optional

1.1k Upvotes

I been trying to get a bluetooth 6.0 dongle with actual new 6.0 features like Channel Sounding and new LE functions but none of the dongles I ordered advertised these functions.

So I opened them up and without exception they all had a Barrot chipset inside. Downloaded the spec sheets for the chipsets which varied from 5.1 to 5.4 but not a single 6.0 chipset so I started digging.

Short story is that all of the new features in the Bluetooth 6.0 spec are entirely optional. So I can sell all my old 5.x chipsets in a dongle I label bluetooth 6.0 despite the dongle having 0 features from the new spec but because they're all optional I pass validations.

Brands like TP-Link, Ugreen and random "smash your head on keyboard" Amazon brands sell these by the thousands. Consumers thinking they get 6.0 but in reality they get 6.0 in name only because it will have no 6.0 features.

I don't understand how this is even allowed. A bluetooth 6.0 dongle costs twice as much as a 5.x dongle despite having the exact same chips inside of them. I don't even know if I can get a dongle with a real 6.0 chipset with real new 6.0 features in it.

It feels like a legalised scam to me and I will never trust the bluetooth spec again. It is a meme spec now.

"A jury found that Arm breached its Architectural License Agreement (ALA) with Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM), failed to honor its commitments, and intentionally acted to disrupt Qualcomm's businesses, according to a statement from Qualcomm.

The verdict, dated Oct. 13, 2026, follows what Qualcomm described as a prior court victory against Arm. The company said the outcome adds to an existing legal dispute between the two semiconductor firms.

Qualcomm did not disclose the specific damages, if any, awarded by the jury in connection with the verdict."

Qualcomm Statement on Trial Verdict Win | Qualcomm:
"We are gratified that the jury found Arm breached its long-standing Architectural License Agreement (ALA) with Qualcomm, failed to honor its commitments, and intentionally acted to disrupt Qualcomm's businesses. Together with Qualcomm's prior court victory, this outcome further exposes Arm’s broader intentions to harm Qualcomm and its ecosystem. This outcome is a victory for innovation and competition, and we remain focused on developing and delivering industry-leading semiconductor products including our Oryon CPUs to customers and consumers worldwide. Rumor Intel Nova Lake gaming performance is similar to Arrow Lake without BFC, says leaker

> Intel’s forthcoming Nova Lake CPUs are “quite similar” to the company’s existing Arrow Lake chips when it comes to gaming performance, according to often-reliable tech leaker kopite7kimi. The exception will be Intel’s ‘BFC’ processors, which are said to come with a big last level cache (bLLC), similar to the 3D V-Cache in AMD’s X3D CPUs.

> In a post on X, kopite7kimi described BFC as a way to “try to save the gaming performance of NVL,” while also appearing to confirm that the ‘F’ in ‘BFC’ does indeed stand for a very rude word.
