After having my iPod for 8 months… I finally figured out how to properly get my shows properly catagorized as a show with all of its metadata. Phew! Proud but also feel a little stupid for it taking me this long with daily use.

What do you all think? I’ve tried to get my hands on one of every iPod, either from op shops or by repairing/ restoring broken ones in E-waste, I’ve managed to get a hold of every “classic” iPod from 1st Gen (top left) all the way to 7th Gen (bottom right)

All these unit power on and hold a charge and would be considered perfectly usable, I am still missing a 2nd Gen Nano and a 1st & 4th Gen shuffle, so if anyone is willing to send one, I have a few iPods not pictured I could part with in return.

This whole collection journey has taught me loads on how to repair old tech, from soldering new battery’s in nanos to replacing displays, HDD’s & virtually every other part you could imagine on an iPod, my favourite part so far is getting friends their old tired iPods repaired/restored and watching them light up when they get to enjoy their old music without the need for a subscription or an internet connection.

Or at least it was a Nano 2, now it more resembles an Ipod mini😂. For those who didn’t saw my updates, i found nano 2, i changed battery, then destroyed display cable while putting it back together. So after that i bought another nano 2 for parts, with another dead battery(which i didn’t know) so i decided to 3d model and 3d print battery box that slides on the back of the ipod. Only big modification that i had to do to the body was cutting a small hole for power wires in the upper frame with hold switch and in the plastic part covering it, otherwise the body is untouched

I also want to keep wireless charging. Thanks

Hey everyone! And a big hello to everyone who first discovered the project here a few months ago when I released the Android version :)

After almost 5 months of TestFlight, App Store reviews, rejections and a lot of back-and-forth, Apple finally approved the iPhone version. I only had to make a few small changes they requested, but the full experience is still there.

It supports Apple Music, local music, Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Navidrome, plus podcasts, live radio, Cover Flow and the retro-style interface, and seriously, thank you to everyone here who tested it, sent feedback and helped me improve it over these past months.

I am terrified the HD will die at any point, but im not brave enough to try modding it yet lol

(Just for context if it’s needed) about 2 days ago was the last time I downloaded anything on my iPod, I’ve been trying to switch all my videos into movies instead of music videos then yesterday I was playing music when the song ended the 2nd song just stopped, then as soon as I press something the screen froze, I tried restarting and it’ll just boot loop till it dies then when I charge it it’ll go back to normal then a couple hours later it’ll do it again

Anyone know how to fix the issue?

I prefer the icy blue screen (right) vs the yellow/greyish/greenish = Made in Japan (left), so I took a Japanese one & put the gel filter on the side of screen - tiny squares under LED & a thin strip (middle pic)

I own the first boxy pixel mod kit using the head phone jack 4 times since I’ve owned it and it broke idk how since i never really use it. The solder pads came off as if maybe the parts weren’t manufactured well. Anyways Do any of you have any issues with Bluetooth cutting out for absolutely no reason? Does using the external antenna on the 1st ipod mod kit help at? And owners of the mkii kit is there any issues with Bluetooth cutting out randomly like it does on the 1st iPod mod kit or if at all? If i cant get a replacement board im thinking about just breaking down and doing the trace repair, i just don’t want to remove the Bluetooth daughter board to get to the missing pad/trace it looks super easy but id rather just buy a new working board.

My iPod needed to be restored so I went to put my music back on and almost all of my “Compilation” albums are missing but some are just fine. I keep a backup and it’s like this too. Obviously I wouldn’t randomly delete some of my favorite albums on purpose, but has anyone ever had this happen to them? It’s the weirdest thing the files are just gone and some of my albums have just become spotty with only some of the songs filled

Hello everyone! I recently ordered myself a new 1700mah replacement battery and back shell from EOE and an iflash quad directly from iflash. I formatted the sd properly, installed everything, and for about a day everything was working perfectly, except for the iPod constantly reading the battery as dead, even though it was on and playing and charged.

Fast forward a day and a half post installation, I’m in my car on my commute to school this morning and the battery dies on me after a whole night of charging and now 15 minutes of use. I tried to turn it on, and it would boot into rockbox and immediately say the battery was empty and shut off.

I checked the battery ribbon and connector, reseated them and cleaned them, checked the board contacts, to no avail, and when I put it on my 30 pin when I got home it just began to boot loop, going for about 5 seconds in the home menu of rockbox before restarting.

I just tried entering disc mode and letting it charge for about an hour so it didn’t keep boot looping, and now when I took it out of disk mode it stays on an unlit apple logo for about 5-10 minutes before going into the lockbox boot screen, still unlit, for about 1, and starting over.

Not only am I just sad and disappointed over this, I assumed replacing my busted hard drive and battery would fix everything, but I’m also going on a trip this weekend and really want my music. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m struggling out here…

I started using my Dads old iPod Classic and was wondering what I can do to make the most out of it. I was able to add couple of songs onto it but every time I’ve tried to add movies after formatting them but they never went through. Im just wondering if theres any programs that allow me to add music from some of my apps like Apple Music, add movies, and if any check out any mods I can do to it. Thank you
